question - quality of "sample" pieces

i picked up a jacket for my girlfriend on ebay...it's a LVC repro of a 30s "rider's" denim jacket

the only jackets like this that i'm familiar with were really weathered with various wear marks...this one, however, is relatively clean with no wear. it also seems to have an authentic "conmar" metal zipper. however, while the viscose label is there, there is no care label sewn on the inside, only a tag with a "#5" written on it...i'm assuming this is a sample produced by levi

my question...in general, how does the quality of sample pieces generally stack up with products that make it into stores?

hit or miss,

the reason for samples is for the brand to approve of the product,

if its all good to go, then they start producing more,

if not, then the items go back to be remade.

and being remade doesnt always mean, that it's shitty quality,

but could just mean directions of what was meant to be done we'rent followed right,

or they didn't like what they originally planned out.--aesthetically.

grimey retarded
