Y-3 Honja Hi Metallics

Hi!

What are everyones' thoughts on the Y-3 Honja Hi Metallics (Gold)? Some claim it to be a Supra rip-off but whatever (style and originality come more from how a person wears it and their level of confidence/attitude). I like the low profile sole and overall refined look of this shoe over other metallics. I'll probably rock them with my usual skinnys bunched at the bottom. How would you wear them?

ps/ on the flip-side, maybe I'll put them away for a year or so and rock them after the metallic trend has gone away. hmmm...

thread shoulda gone in superfashion but whatev

i wouldnt wear them, Y-3 has such a sporty edge its difficult to incorporate into a wardrobe without them looking like adidas running sneakers, with the midas touch or not. as for the ripoff of supra, i wouldnt sweat it. originality is a moot point in most fashion

and wearing them with "skinnys bunched at the bottom" makes you sound like a fashion victim imo

thanx mellowbonsai for the reply - much appreciated. so i guess i probably shouldn't have stated how i was gonna wear it since (i agree) it does make me seem like a fashion victim (even though i've been wearing 'skinny' jeans for ages. i should've just asked how people would wear them if they had the Y-3's. thanx regardless :)

@geekbonchic:

yeah, i considered the black ones but i wanted something fresh (and obnoxious) - haha! i have a pair of black hi chucks with studs; i think they're from john varvatos. get those if you want studs for a lot cheaper!

i prefer the Yohji Yamamoto X Adidas collab for his PH label from ss08. they look exaggerated, cartoonish and not practical for making an outfit that looks symmetrically proper, which is why i love them. the black chunky low tops are comfy as hell and i think would go especially well with the white shirt w/ navy knit overlong sleeves and back and skinny black one cargo pocket pants. kinda mick jagger-ish in its sloppily thrown togetherness
