designer books

Recommended Posts

From Hedi Slimane to Raf Simons, every designer seems to be putting out an art book of sorts. Avant-garde or utterly pretentious? Either way I'm a sucker for them. Anyone have good recommendations? Reviews?

A magazine is good.

I've been looking for the margiela issue for a while.

It's impossible to find one now.

I just got intermission by Jun Takahashi.

Amazing book but shitty ass price tag.

Well, if you wanna spend, you can go cop the Rick Owens book. Only about 4 bills.

Slimane's Stage book isnt bad. Its terribly overpriced (like most art books IMO) but his photos are decent. Sometimes the subjects are pretty bland but his exposure is pretty interesting. I wish he wrote more captions or essays but I suppose if he gives too much insight he might loose his "mysticism".

Alec Soth's (not a designer) fashion magazine is neat.

reux by raf simons is pretty good and can be picked up pretty cheap on amazon,im a sucker for books but tend to focus my buying to photoraphers rather than designers at the min.least with books as well when you spend money on them they will tend to hold thier value within reason.
