possible to shrink waist only?

my friend bought me a pair of uniqlo jeans in japan. I warned her that i am a size 34 and she got me a size 36... since she thought you have to get 2 size bigger in japan.. but the jean she got me was a low cut, so they are like half a inch too big.

i was wondering, is there anyway of shinking the waist only? the rest of the jean fits fine, just teh waist is a bit loose right now and i need to really tighten my belt to the max which sucks...

if i have to alter it at a place, how much would it roughly cost?

I'd say just tailor them, it will run you maybe 15-25 dollars? It won't be much.

Only a half an inch? That's not too bad. If anything try washing them to see if they shrink up; if anything, just dip the waist in water and dry it.

Or wear a belt.

they're probably going to end up going to big regardless. they'll stretch as you wear them.

how would a tailor do it? would it look wierd if they just shrink the waist? or would they shrink the whole upper jean area?

Well that depends eddyz. A good tailor wood do a good job! Just be sure that you and the tailor communicate(d) very well. Just take em there and tell em what you want done.

Get waist wet + hairdryer can work... not my own idea or experience, just something I've read on here.

Go the tailor route. Think about it. Even if you were to shrink just the waist in 2 days of wearing all your shrink would have stretched back out.
