Buying electronics in singapore

i'm in singapore and i'm planning on buying a Nikon D80, which I guess costs around $1300 us for the complete kit. i went to this one electronics place in vivo city called Best and the price was about $2288 sing dollars, which is about $1,500 usd. and then i went to this smaller, camera oriented place on orchard road near far east plaza and the guy said they sold them for $1600 sing dollars for the complete kit, and then lowered it down to $1500 before gst, brand new and original. is this shop near far east a trustworthy place to buy a dslr?

outside of the shop, this guy sitting on a bench told me to go to simlim or something like that if i wanted to buy electronics, but a friend of mine told me that they only sell cameras for cheaper there because they've taken parts out of the camera and replaced them with older or refurbished parts or something. true?

Don't know how reliable SLS is, but have you checked out the Funan IT Mall? I bought several items there and have never had any problems. Make sure the shop is a licensed/authorized dealer of your particular brand.
