washing a dry clean only garment

Hey my APC pullover and cardigan said dry clean only but that's quite expensive since I have to clean it like once every two weeks.

I'm thinking of handwashing it or machine wash on a gentle-cycle. Does anyone know what will happen? Like if the fabric gonna get ruin?

The fabric is 70%cotton/30%bamboo.

handwashing it is the safest way to go...

if you want to cheapskate it, wash it less often.

My experience with handwashing dryclean only items has been OK so far. Bamboo stretches like hell when its wet though so make sure you lay it flat to dry and handle it carfully - dont let the weight from the water pull it in anyway.

what happens if i wash&dry my peacoat, i'm assuming nothing much but will it shrink? will it disintegrate? will it turn pink? it's something like 80% wool 20% nylon, and the lining is nylon.

I'm pretty sure an 80% peacoat will get ruined if it is soaked in water. massive shrinkage.

you guys should wash less often. are you wearing these things with no undershirt?

if you really dont want to drop the cash on the dry cleaning bill def hand wash. washing machine will ruin it in a few washes. but if your want quality clothing you should try to maintain it as recommended

Unless your wearing it everyday it probably doesn't smell at all, give it a few good wearings and wash it like every 3 weeks or so.
