Thanks for the replies guys. I checked out RM Williams in NYC. Still can't get with the elastic sides (personal taste). They had a more traditional rubber soled work boot that was okay. The front was kind of narrowed like a cowboy boot, but still a little wide like a work boot. I passed it.

The Costume National boots were sick indeed (actually all their leather soled shoes were quite nice). Should have picked them up in NYC as they have sold out of them in the LA store. Oh well, too hot here to wear boots anyways..

Anyone have any favorite vintage boots they like?

I've been working in Las Vegas and finally stopped into Boot Barn.

Leather Soul's Ultimate Indy Boot would be my first choice for a work boot (that is if you can't stand the neoprene sole on the normal 405). After that my next choice would be something Red Wing.

those are nice but I really don't know if its worth the extra $150... compared to the regular indy 405's
