quick question about AA's tee and hoodie sizing

i already did a search before asking this

For those peeps who have the 2001fine jersey short sleeved shirt, how bad's the shrinkage? I've read some people say how it went a size down but some didn't experience any.

I'm 5"7, 138 pounds. Chest of 38+, waist of around 30.. definitely not fat but also not dior skinny.

Tee qns:

Would a size M be ok? I know the length would be way too long for me but tightness-wise? If it fits ok prior to washing, my only concern is that it'll shrink to size which would cause my nipples to show, which i HATE.

Hoodie qns:

I'm looking at the cali fleece zip hoody. Again, would size M be ok for my size? I definitely want it slim fitting but not tight. Not planning to do alot of layering as well.

input greatly appreciated. thanks

Shrinkage, believe it or not, seems to depend on the color. I bought a few mediums in different colors and they all shrink differently. Grey fits perfect, white a little bit more slim then the grey, pink shrunk a lot and the light green is pretty much unwearable. The organic "sustainable" tee didn't really shrink at all. But by the sounds of your measurements, a medium should be ok.

I can't imagine that color has anything to do with the variable shrinkage of AA 2001s, but I've also found that they shrink in a way that's very difficult to predict. I have probably a dozen of them. Generally they shrink the most in the length, and if you put them in the dryer they take on a really boxy look. Several of the lighter-colored ones I've just had to give to my girlfriend, because they look so idiotic after coming out of the dryer. I think you might want a small, honestly. I'm 5'11", 180 lbs., and the medium fits me in a way that's trim, but not tight.

Also, just a side note, I find that their "summer shirt" is ridiculously long despite its nice weight and feel, and no amount of drying makes it lose its nightshirt-ish character, so, you know, caveat emptor.

All my AA tees fit completely different, in my experience the darker colors will shrink less and the lighter ones will shrink the most. My black/navy have hardly shrunk over the past 6 months, but my heather grey/light orange are bordering on skin tight.

Ditto with the sz. S suggestion, I'm 5'9",130 and I fit into a S with some room to spare ( they're pretty long length wise as well ). As for the nipple-showing thing, I don't think it can be avoided with AA shirts, because of the fabric.

I'm only afraid that the S will shrink until my nipples show more than anything else.

more hoodie input please?

Im 5'8" 145 pounds, and I generally buy XS and S and they fit snug and I even have a grey thermal that is XXS and my nipples dont really show unless they are completely hard. A small will most definitely not shrink to your nipples.

On the hoodie. I suggest just buying your typical size. The hoodie from there I got forgot the model but its the one with thermal material inside and regular hoodie outside, and it hasnt shrunk at all.

hmm so what size did you get for the hoodie?

thinking of going with M like what some people suggested, a size up from the tee.
