Rather horrible smell

something similar happend to me. i wore a pair of jeans and a belt into the ocean. the thing is i left the belt in the trunk and it smelled horrible! i tried washing it but it didnt do anything, once it dried it smelled the same. so i just left the belt in the closet for over a month or so and now it dosnt smell.

i think all you need is to let it air out. i know what you mean though, i cant stand that smell!

Hahahahaha^ I did that exact same thing with a pair of STFs. Basically I washed it twice on hot then dried it in the dryer. That did the trick but I didn't care about those jeans b/c they were too big anyways. I wore my shoes into the ocean too and had to wash those for a while.

I've heard that spraying vinegar on fabric helps get rid of mildew.

Of course you'll then smell of vinegar.

Put some sodium bicarbonate in a little box and put your jeans near it.

i think all you have to do is to flip your jeans inside-out and let it sit in the sun all day. it's like what the japanese people do with stinky futons -- sun will take care of a lot of crap.
