for those of you that have these, what's the quality of the leather and metal clips? with what you guys are saying you've paid for them, i'm curious as they are really easy to make.

The quality of the leather is good, and the clips are very durable. I did try to make my own a while ago, but getting good thick wallet chain clips can cost about $12 each and for $60 in Japan, I could get an authentic RM braid, $30 for a copied one. If you are into crafts, etc. and feel you can do a good job, I would say make one.

where did you get the clips? i was looking through the usual bins at home depot the other day and they all of the sudden don't really carry that many rope fasteners/etc anymore

He heh. That is why I "tried" to make a braid, but to no avail. I found some online for the about $12 but didn't want to drop $24 to get two of them; I will see if I can dig the site up. All of the craft stores near me (Ben Franklin, etc.) didn't have anything that would work. They were much harder to find than I imagined they would be.

you can usually find that kind of stuff at hardware stores, but stainless is the best quality material you can find.

Exact same place I was before I just said screw it an bought a RM. I was also very suprised at what the leather woudl cost, nonetheless finding it.
