Good fit on your purchase but you’ll need to go on my diet if you want to get the full ‘Tony look’ -
That’s my old FW jacket! Dunno why he’s sold for less than he bought it from me

Denim Blunders, Reflections and General Nonsense.
Duke Mantee replied to cmboland's topic in superdenim
I really don’t care how quickly or how slow denim fades - too many factors involved to really make sense of it anyway ( @chicote touches on this) As with a lot of this stuff, there’s a certain po-faced approach to the scientific appraisal of train tracks, roping, whiskers and whatnot that makes for good forum debate, but I wonder if it kills the joy of wearing nice clothes just for the fun of, well … erm, wearing nice clothes? I posted a pair of FW jeans a few months back that were very heavily faded, in certain areas, within a few weeks - they were used for work, they got dirty and sweaty and one knee (the one I knelt one while working) is almost worn through. Not the ‘classic’ fades (there is no such thing anyway) and I still wear them with as little thought as any other pair of jeans … and I think that’s my point - I wear what I want on any given day and I’m not bothered about investing too much thought into that process. -

What’s your budget? There’s Cheaney at around £400, Trickers have a sale on some styles down to £325, or what’s wrong with GH Bass - cheaper and (I think better) than those Horatio shoes?
-
Did you use that Spectracide ‘One Shot’ first?

Strange how your mind and memories work. Having a look at the Horatio shoes website and being already bored shitless by the most obvious new trend in the rugged world - loafers (loafers in themselves are great btw) - I remember buying a pair of GH Bass ‘Weejuns’ from a shop in Glasgow’s Princes Square about 35 years ago. I still have and wear my Church’s loafers I bought, I dunno, a decade ago maybe. Anyways, I mentioned this to the duchess and she said ‘don’t you remember (penny) loafers were a big thing in the 90s - there was a band we saw who wore loafers and jeans rolled up above the ankle?’ It was this crew who don’t use the video to champion them so you’ll either have to be old enough or just take my word It’s all part of the cycles of fashion - I remember weejuns being popular with the 2 Tone movement, mods and punks … and I’m sure @Dr_Heech will remember the original Ivy League thing too

I don’t, but they don’t look particularly good looking at their website and media info - what drives your interest?

@Geeman Goatskin is such an underrated leather in these parts - and the range of temper, grain and colour is fantastic … this red is really nice and it was actually part of the skin I bought to make some overlays for a belt

Thank you mate

The duchess wanted a new purse and she liked the long wallet style pattern I’d made … kinda. So a few changes, a wrist strap and chain added, she now has a purse/clutch that fits most iPhone models too Badalassi Carlo ‘Pueblo’ in prugna cowhide shell, with Alran SAS ‘Sully’ goatskin in red, and 24k gold plate stainless steel hardware

Another ‘western’ style for a customer on IG … similar to the one above for John B … but a different silver plate buckle and a black strap with the protective tallow left untouched (as best possible)

You should be ok with the 47s - that’s a permanent product. M-41 chino might be tougher but there’s usually a few hanging around -

They more or less take the same approach but I’ve found the ‘more or less’ part can impact those who might be more sensitive to getting the right measurements (I tend not to bother too much - if it’s about right, then it is right … we’re not dealing with bespoke tailoring) I’ve had and have dozens of FW denim items - they don’t shrink unless you boil wash them (I tried) -

It’s only strange because the Japanese shops are very inconsistent with how they measure (if you look at Speedway’s size for the lined jacket it’s actually smaller than the unlined jacket) - and that’s a one wash isn’t it? It won’t shrink. -

I’ve found that FW non-wash 601xx will always shrink to the wash size I’ve also found the waist measurement to be as tagged I’m not a 38 but I see no reason to think they would be any different
