  1. Very, very cool pickup. Their jackets are some of the most appealing that I’ve seen, but I’d never looked much at the jeans before. They seem great!
  2. Don't want to steal away traffic from the M-series thread, but I'll happily repost my The Flat Head S2004. The model number suggests they'd be a war model, but really they're detailed after the late '40s or early '50s, as best I can tell—couldn't say which reference period specifically. The name seems to have been a hold-over from the S2003, which were made the year prior and were a true war model. Otherwise, there's really not much info floating around on these. Here's them when they were new: …and here's after a decent bit of wear: I've said it before, but if it weren't for the low rise these would be way up in the running for my overall favorite pair of jeans. The detailing's great, construction's top notch, and the denim's faded just how I wish all '40s–'50s repro denim would fade. A++, would absolutely buy another pair if one ever showed up, even despite not loving everything about the fit.
  3. Had to get dressed up fancy, recently, for the first time in years, and took it as an excuse to finally try out Django Atour. Picked up linen trousers & shirt and a lovely striped cotton vest. Also grabbed a matching jacket which ended up being quite a bit too small (oh well) and a pair of linen pajama pants that I’ve been wearing most evenings. All the pieces are super cool. Both pants were cut long and serged but left un-hemmed, which I really appreciated as a taller guy. The fabrics are great. The designs and patterns are really well considered, and a few of the details make it seem like they pulled out all the stops during construction (not a big surprise, at the price). Happy to take more photos or give more detailed descriptions on request, as always. Anyway, didn’t actually get any full body photos, but I’m sure I’ll put the outfit back on eventually for something or other and do a better photoshoot. Was paired with MOTO derbies in black shell, and a great vintage bolo. Here’s the one selfie I did take:
  4. MOTO #2121 in light brown Latigo A few weeks ago we were in Atlanta for a family wedding, and my partner’s mom spilled a bunch of laundry detergent on these. Wiped them down with a wet rag and ordered some leather soap and leather cream for next day delivery (wonders of the modern world). Still dry & dirty vs. wet after a wash: Dry again after their wash…plus the view from the suburban front porch (could be worse): Conditioned them right after the last photos, but didn’t have a good brush on hand. Fast forward to today, finally got around to brushing them off and lightly buffing. I’m sure I’ve said it before, but I’m really happy with how these are breaking in.
  5. ^ Of course it’s okay. I’m not sure what you’re basing your statistics on, but it seems like most folks on this forum prefer to get their jeans hemmed to length. Personally, I usually get new jeans hemmed to length when I’m buying them direct from the manufacturer, but most of my jeans are old stock from Yahoo or Mercari, and I almost never bother sending those out to get hemmed
  6. ^ Exactly! I’d forgotten about the 1001 case, but slightly outdated hardware on some models was the main thing I had in mind
  7. I don’t know that that’s true—I’ve been really impressed by how specific some of the early M-series (some of the Lee jeans, in particular) feel in term of seemingly zeroing in on the details of a single vintage sample. Of course we don’t have the catalogs or promotional material or YouTube review videos to confirm the designers’ intentions, but I would go as far as to suggest that it was probably all the more common, back when true vintage samples were much more readily available, to base a model on a specific sample pair than it is now, when we have much less access to high quality samples but much more access to high quality aggregated data about what the defining features were of each era. I agree that this approach seems to have gone out of fashion for a period of time before the current resurgence, but I don’t think the approach is wholly new.
  8. ^ Those are looking great, esp. the creasing around the lap & thighs

  10. Spent a few hours on a ladder this weekend tearing down some invasive vines from the (also invasive, but much less work to upkeep) bamboo lining our side walkway. There was way more to it than I bargained for—probably 2–3 cubic yards, all told—and I didn’t even consider how barren it would leave my de facto WAYWT backdrop. Oh well, bamboo grows back all too fast once it’s not getting choked out. feat. Union Special, Tender Co., The Vanishing West, Tezomeya, Russell In other garden news, the irises I put in a few months ago are just starting up, and the delphiniums are just finishing for the season: (feat. vintage Cane’s x2 in the background) …and we’ve just moved some tomatoes and peppers from their starter pots into the ground out front, plus threw in some marigolds and extra tomato starters from the store for good measure

@Duke Mantee That’s great news—1 1/4” is always me sweet spot. I’ll shoot you a message later to talk details

This is a beauty; I’d love one just like it. Are you still taking new commissions these days? Any chance you have more of the hardware around?
  13. It really seems to have more to do with the settings and with the operator than with the machine itself

  15. It’s not that they feel restrictive or anything—besides the lower rise, they feel pretty similar to the SC ‘47, which have always fit me great as far as slim–straight (relative to my build) jeans go. I just generally prefer much wider and higher jeans, stylistically. After this contest, I wouldn’t be surprised if I spent a year wearing nothing but the M41027 and the M41058
  16. @Thekhan Welcome—what are the sewing machines for?
  17. Thanks folks! Really pleased with how they’re wearing in so far. I do wish the cut was wider and higher, but the detailing is good and the denim is just lovely
  18. Foreman pants Probably not really due for an update yet, but they’re the main thing I’ve been wearing when I’m not in my contest jeans and I’ve really been enjoying them Color truest in the first two shots, ‘51 601xx for reference
  19. Third wash (‘51 601xx for color reference) …feat. pocket bag update no. 1, and another shot of the loom chatter on the back of the right leg

  21. This is huge news! Really looking forward to hearing more details when the time comes to share
  22. I think you’ve got this part completely backwards. All the best fades come from folks who get their jeans dirty as hell and wash as needed. I’d bet that drywall dust, wood shavings, or just plain dirt do more to fade jeans than any comparable amount of walking up and down stairs all nice and clean.
  23. Expensive, but honestly less so than most other Western retailers. Jeans around $300 jackets around $400. Similar to Freewheelers.
  24. I don’t know any of the actual measurements, but TCB and Sugar Cane both tend to make longer jackets
  25. Nope, no flasher for that pair. Good pick up, congrats!
