I'm in the same boat myself with some of my older and thankfully worn pairs but am still having difficulty getting rid of some of them, but as the old saying goes, if you love something, set it free.(They probably weren't talking about jeans when they came up with that phrase, but anyway...)

And I'm sure it's been posted before but it's a classic...

Even more definitive proof of the tailoring... Looks like the outseam was given some serious pressing as well.

    Vintage Denim?

I'm guessing they were some kind of accident or else a custom order(???), something like that anyway, seems odd they would go from 501xx->501ZXX->551ZXX->505 and then stick another button fly model in there for good measure.

Great post @Flash, and one good bizarre Levi's post deserves another. I spotted these on Marvins a while back and forgot to post them, they must be some of the rarest jeans Levi's ever produced, the 551BXX, a button version(???) of the short lived 551ZXX, which is one of my favorite cuts... No offset rear belt loop like the 551ZXX... You can see the how great the old school thread colors were... 551BXX.

If the cut and denim is right I would join the contest in a heartbeat! The 1702XX from the last contest is by far my favourite pair of all time

    The Flat Head

Hello folks. Recently got myself a Flatty and have been pretty obsessed, reading through a couple of hundred of the pages on this thread. A quick question about Flat Head Balder jeans, on the off chance that anyone knows. Can anyone comment if they were ever produced with non-selvedge fabric, or if for whatever reason some runs of this model had a plain, white over-lock seam on the outseam near the cuffs? I Found one going for a steal and it could possibly be a good fit for my wife, but it seems to have that aforementioned overlock stitch on the outseam (instead of an expected pink line selvedge) and lacks that little brown label on edge of the back right pocket. I've seen examples with and without this label but never with a non-selvedge outseam. Gut feel tells me it's a fake, but as to why anyone would want to make a fake Flat Head Balder is beyond me. Unless it's just a poorly tapered boot cut Balder...appreciate any insight. Thanks.

thanx [- and srs respect to yr style innovations] the most serious shoe investment I have made yet into the only brand I have seen recommended by swat instructors alongside dearest eastern hipsters and also biblical trump-ish hunters (and I thought I was going for relaxed summer style to replace poor options of chucks, desert boots, birkenstocks...)

Wonder how many guys are still active? Denim land seems so barren the past few years, I miss the good old days lol Ooe is still by far and wide my favorite "brand"; You just don't get the same level of hand crafted love and warmth with the bigger brands. Enjoy my TCB's of course, but they're getting a bit tight and I can't wear any of my older Ooe's due to those same waist issues lol

Loved the jeans from the last Ooe contest — one off #17 denim and the 02 fit, if I recall. My favorite pair of jeans, bar none.

I was under the impression that 3sixteen’s stitching was strictly poly. Has there been indication that it’s a blend?

I'm a bit lazy and posting this 60's Lee 81-LJ here instead of the Lee-thread. Not at home at the moment so I only have a few detail pics. Will sort out more once I find the time.

Yes and no. I don't have a desire to accumulate more but, when needed I have a short list of what I would buy when needed. That said I'm looking forward to sending in a pair of jeans to indigo proof for a second repair.
  25. I'm okay with everything about the selling interface, but the pricing's not great for two reasons: 1) their commission is higher than average and 2) the average Grailed buyer seems to expect high discounts / a lot of bargaining. If you're fine with going back-and-forth on prices and you don't mind the commission, then yeah, the overall experience is pretty smooth.

I don’t see a brain on it. Am I missing a photo somewhere? To me it looks like a large x-pac duffle—possibly those backpack straps can be stashed away. The lack of visible hip belt also indicates to me that this is not a dedicated backpack. Could be totally wrong though.

Kinda looks like a travel pack, would not be surprised if he had made himself one considering.
