i actually talked to a marine that just got back from iraq. he was telling me that the people were better off with saddam. at least then they werent killing eachother. but i guess if you think that a nation invading another nation, destroying its infrastructure, and letting the whole place slip into chaos and civil war is a bad thing, then you can go to hell.

Yeah, you`re right, I lived in DC for 3 years and I loved it. Great country you got there.

I`ve met marines, airmen and sailors over here in Japan back from Iraq that were pissed all the good shit they`ve done and achieved there isnt getting reported. I haven`t met one yet that thought the country was better off under Saddam but thats what great about America, even its soldiers are free to have whatever opinion they want.

You shouldnt take what you have for granted. Even in `democracies` like Japan and Australia you soon learn they are more socialist than not. Especially Japan.

And you`re comment about Republicans hating Australians?? Haha. I lived in West Virginia with a lot of retired veterans, current military people etc and they loved my family BECAUSE we were Australians. They`re so interested in our country. First they think you`re English coz of the accent but when you tell em you`re Australian, they`re all like `Oh Man, You Guys are AUSSIES!?! Oh Man, I`ve always wanted to go to your country.`

We`ve also fought with your troops in every major war since WWII - George Bush and John Howard are tight and prolly the firmest partners in the war on Terror, along with Blair.

I think American`s feelings about Australians was summed up when an in Afghanistan in 2003 an Australian SAS unit came back to Bagram from saving a group of stranded, surrounded and cut-off Marines and SEALs. They were lining up for food and were all pushed to the front of the que and givin a standing ovation by every American in the place.

We`re in Iraq with you guys too and we`re not going to pull out early like some pussy nations (Italy, Spain, Philipines) have. We`re in it for the long haul and don`t cut and run, and I reckon you`re republican buddies might have some respect for that.

they wouldnt hate you because youre australian, but because of how you dress. most likely they would lump you in with all of us liberals because you dont look like them. but i could be wrong.

and yeah... i love this country because there are differing opinions, and we are free to express them.
