Hey folks, looking to travel to Berlin on the 17th of this month just basically to get away for a few days and have a look around what I've heard is an amazing city.

Unfortunatley I don't really know anything about it at the moment, I've managed to get a good deal on flights+hotel so it is pretty restrictive as to where I can stay The Hotel Berlin and The Berlin Excelsior seem to be pretty central and seem to be quite good value, does anyone know either of these and whats in the general area ?

Basically looking for as much info as possible, sights to see, places to go, how to get around etc, also how far is Schoenfeld airport from Mitte ?

I'm planning to pick up a TimeOut guide shortly so will hopefully be able to get a bit more info on what it has to offer

I know it's all a bit vague but as I said I really don't know anything about Berlin at the moment.
