Denim Blunders, Reflections and General Nonsense.

Congratulations!!! -
Got a shipment email today for the Cat's Drive jeans. Earlier than expected, looking forward to seeing other's impressions!

Welcome @ChemProfJSpencer! Great to have you here! I can't speak much to the qualities of the different denims used and their numbering/naming system as I'm pretty new too! On the arcuates though, I believe Warehouse aim for as close to an exact reproduction of vintage pairs as much as they possibly can. Circumventing the copyright / IP lawsuits by putting the double arcuates on to sell their jeans, then giving the customer the choice to remove one and make them look exactly as intended, is part of that aiming for exact replica. I actually totally missed this at first (like didn't even clock that was a thing and you could unpick one side and make it like old Levi's - I'm the kind of person to not even sense a plot twist coming in a movie, so it tallies), and only noticed once I saw @yung_flynn share his DD-1001XX on this thread. Since then I have done this to both of the Warehouse pairs I currently own. I will say I'm steadily becoming a Warehouse megafan, like a lot of people here, I've a few pairs of their denim and some T-shirts, shirts etc, all very nice and getting a lot of wear. They do indeed make jeans for Burgus plus, not sure on the other items though. They also make clothing for John Gluckow, Heller's Cafe and currently produce Denime as well.

(Photos partly nicked from WAYWT) It’s been touch and go on the fit of the 1101 Big E’s for me. They are absolutely as slim in the thigh and top block as I could possibly go. I did have them hemmed to 29” assuming they would shrink straight away to my ideal 27.5-28”, which didn’t happen, much to my horror. Thankfully they’re getting there after 4 or so washes and I reckon after another hot wash I’ll be able to get rid of the turn-up entirely. I really like the fit of these now after much deliberation and almost regret. The fabric is still a lot rougher than the banner denim but is looking amazing, lots of speckles and rough waste cotton flecks, should fade amazingly and due to the snugness around the top half, should continue to form into a perfectly fitting pair.

Took measurements as I realised that might be more helpful than rambling on. My size 34 DD-1001XX were listed as having a 16.5” waist when purchased. After many washes and dries, the waist today measures 16”, they’ve been worn since the last wash.

My pair did not shrink massively in the waist. I have put them through washing and drying numerous times, shrinking in all dimensions, but usually stretching back out in the waist - which has been perfect for me. I took a 34, and I am usually a 32, 33 or 34 in Warehouse depending on the initial state of the fabric and the cut. Is this your first warehouse pair? Or what’s your usual warehouse size? I would say that they continue to shrink throughout the first few washes, inseam shrinking the most. The only way I fit in to any jeans through the full leg is to have the waist slightly too big!

Roundhay is a lovely spot! Bit of an oasis in what is a very un-green city, though I suppose on the North side there's a few green areas!

SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)
Alec Leamas replied to minya's topic in superdenim
That's a lovely jacket at a lovely price. Shame they've not got much in the way of sizes left. Not looked on Klaxon before either, thanks for the heads up! -

Never picked up any Sugar Cane stuff but the fit pics on all the jeans and the jackets on here are whetting my appetite for sure!

I’ve been going for Den-eeem as I assumed / possibly heard it was French inspired?!

Post-first wash, wearing in a bit while waiting for another wash, before sorting the arcuates and sending off for hemming - the 1101 1970's Big E's. Granted the light has made the photos well dodgy and the cuffing is making the lower leg not sit quite right, but hey, happy to contribute anyway. You can see the bright blueness of the fabric the most in the 3rd photo. I'm pleased with these, I can't usually wear a tapered jean of any kind as they grip my calves like they're trying to strangle my feet. Looking forward to seeing how the shape drapes and wears in over time once they're hemmed.

Tried to capture the colour of the raw fabric here, it's very "light blue" with an almost greyish look, not one I've seen on any other pair in my very short experience. No chance to wash them this weekend so @CharlieMike I'm keen to see your post-wash measurements, I'll be throwing them in at 40 as soon as I can do.

Ahh no! Makes you wonder about the sheer numbers of jeans in cargo depots at any one time! EDIT: Have arrived in the UK and seem on track for tomorrow.
-
Absolutely delightful reading - just the kind of numbers I was hoping for! Mine are currently sat in a DHL hub in Leipzig due to "adverse weather conditions" so not mega hopeful for them arriving tomorrow.
-
I wondered when it would pop up, I'm glad there was a 33 available for these as I've often thought it would be just the ticket - 32 runs tight for me and 34 leaves a bit too much spare, for their one wash versions anyway. Would love to see them if they have arrived! I'm expecting mine Friday.
-
Ordered mine from Hinoya too - they took me on an emotional journey. Emailed after I ordered to say they would not be in stock until Wednesday 24th, but have emailed me again today to say they're ready to ship! Great little Monday message!

The used wash do fit very small indeed. Inseam is ideal for me but I had to size up to a 36 to get the thigh room I need (usually 32/34 in Warehouse). I was also confused by the fit on the Big E’s. After comparing a few wildly different size charts I went straight down the middle with a 33. Excited nonetheless. Not bought a raw pair in a while so happy about having a good faff around with washes and hemming.
-
Great tip, checking their measurements now!
-
👀 I think they might have snared me with these too. I think they are indeed the raw version of the second hand series - oddly enough on Hinoya they seem to have left the used wash version product info up on the page - perhaps intentional? Unsure, but yes, I may have to grab these, I have the used wash version already and while it might be a bit of a SuFu sin, I love them.

I realise this is 3 years late but yes, I've got the lot 203's - I like em, pretty solid rendition of a WWII model jean, in their distinctive style. OD green herringbone twill pocket bags, no frills 5 pocket style, no rivets on the coin pocket, donut fly buttons - I like how "plain" these are. Mine are still very unworn as I went off them a while back and also had a bad do with hemming, now sorted and that has refreshed my interest, so getting some wear. Picked these up from The Vintage Showroom a few years ago when I was on a frenzied search for anything TWC, got these and a lovely chambray work shirt. This was after the brick and mortar store closing but they were still very obliging and kind over email, photographing all the pieces they had and posting some out to me.
