  1. Damn, just glad you're okay! Crazy stuff.

    Boncoura

After promising to not buy another pair before the WoM contest starts, my willpower broke. Stopped by SE Austin and grabbed a pair of the exclusive wide 34 cut. These feel like a proper pair of straight legged jeans compared to the XX's. My old XX's feel like a slim-straight cut, and the rise is just a bit too low for my tastes these days. So this 34 cut is much more my speed. The Boncoura denim is still great and has one of my favorite selvedge IDs. Also the 34 cut is a few inches longer, so I can wear these uncuffed or with a small double cuff. Might give them another wash to see if there's any residual shrink. It's kinda crazy to think that I bought the XX's 7 years ago.
  3. Let's see some fit pics @MJF9! Denim looks nice, looking forward to seeing it on the Sunny chore coat.
  4. Nah no skiing/snowboarding, too many sports related injuries when I was younger.
  5. Spent a long weekend in the Denver area, enjoyed some proper cooler weather. Even saw some snow! That's a big deal for us. FW watch cap. FW M-1951. FW sweat. FW 1942. Blundstone.
  6. Definitely a bit oversized, I feel like I could've gotten away with a 44 as opposed to my usual 46 in FW denim jackets. There's one on Yahoo in size 42 for a decent price as well: link
  7. Anyone have recommendations for quarter zip sweats? I've seen some from Timeworn that look nice, Warehouse and RMC usually offers some as well. This Boncoura one also looks nice, just looking for options I haven't yet considered.
  8. @FurnitureMaker I think 99% of transactions are made with Hoosier via email or Instagram dm.
  9. Good! I wear them a few times a week. But I'll probably be start wearing the high tops more often if it ever decides to cool off here.
  10. Yup that's correct. Or at least I believe it is correct.
  11. A couple more recent purchases. Rick Owens high top Ramones in stone coated denim. Super comfortable, feel more like boots on foot. I like the side zip for convenience. New Balance x Kith 990v4. Been on a big NB kick the last couple of years. Honestly I didn't expect to win these when I entered the raffle.
  12. I'm guessing the '22 jeans follow the same line as the '27 jacket, which feature the "standard" denim (i.e.: '43, '47, '51, '56, etc.). Think I just read your post from the wrong perspective @MJF9, all good! All that said, FW sure do love some nuance around their denim don't they? I'm back in the '42s, going to stick with them until the WoM contest. Hoping it cools down at some point so I can wear the jacket as well...
  13. At first I thought you were on to something, but I think you're getting things mixed up a bit. The '22 jeans were released in August of 2020 along with the '27 jacket. No idea if these use the same denim or not. The 506xx '33 and 601xx-c '37 were released in 2023, they also released a 506xx '22 jacket with no pocket flap (all three of these models used the same denim). There were no '22 model jeans released in 2023 alongside the '22 jacket.
  14. I am quite familiar with this, should've taken that into consideration when I made my original post. Long story short, Russell make some nice shoes. Do I find them to be worth $700-$800? No, not really.
  15. That's a fair argument, but when something increases in MSRP by ~130% over the course of a few years it just makes me pause. Did every material increase in cost by 100%? If so then they need to rethink their sourcing process. Did workers receive pay raises and / or benefits that account for this cost? If not then I have even more questions about the new price. I guess there's an inherent difference in what is "expensive" and what I see as the personal perceived value.
  16. Yup Yuketen is a great example as well, I hardly look at them anymore given the pricing structure. Unfortunate because they're some of my favorite fitting shoes.
  17. Yeah that's the problem. I've always wanted a pair of the Clays but not at that price. And there aren't really any alternatives out there. At least that I'm aware of.
  18. I know I’ve said this a few times before, but Russell has really gone off the deep end with their updated pricing. They just announced they’re offering the Clays sporting chukka as part of their MTO program, pricing starts at $715 and goes all the way up to $805 for bison leather and different sole options. Didn’t these used to be between $300-$450? I know labor and materials are both more expensive than ever, but it seems a bit excessive. Borderline Viberg pricing.
  19. I feel like this take on WWII models is starting to get a little lazy. "Boss, how are we going to make our WWII jeans stand out from the competition?" Miki-san: "Oh I've got it, just leave about 3 inches of runoff at every possible sewing point!"
  20. I have the ‘42s, I would say they’re pretty much in line with 601xx sizing of other models. Having worn a pair of OA’s for most of this year, coming back to the 601 feels a little oversized. But I wouldn’t size down I don’t think.
  21. Problem with this is that everyone has their own use cases and justifications. What’s “just right” for someone in the UK might be entirely impractical for someone elsewhere in the world and vice versa.
