  1. I had to get rid of my last APC jacekt as I gained a few pounds and the size L wasn't going to cut it. Picked up this unworn closet (barn) find in XL for under $100. First time wearing it today. APC denim is so damn good.
  2. First time on post-wash and thread cutting. I have a pretty thin sweat on, however, I am planning on wearing a lot heavier one during winter with this jacket.
  3. Agreed, how long is that @Alec Leamas?
  4. @beautiful_FrEaK will probably chime in, too, but I got 2.5" in the waist shrinkage. If I were you, I would get the 33. Remember..."Buy 'em big!" 😉
  5. 25 pairs at ~2.5 hours a pair, plus cutting, equals ~2 week production...
  6. Probably not much help but an old friend of mine (he started Rag & Bone) used to spec mil-spec parachutes for jackets he was making, among denim for his other project too. I know he used to travel to Vernon in Los Angeles, and I have heard from others too, that's the area to source that kind of stuff (rolls of headstock japanese denim, custom made tees et al) but I have no idea where you'd start to gather that info.
  7. I believe the 1 in the 108 is the 15oz, the 5 in the 508 is the 12oz. SE had the SD-507...
  8. Maybe they weren’t selling as well as they hoped? In saying that, bought them for a joke to see how crazy they really were but it’s kinda fun to customize them in a way that usually you don’t with anything denim related.
  9. Definitely, it's pretty impressive how many strands there are! I am going to leave all the ones on the inside as is. The buttonholes are the true thic bois, lopping them off for sure. I am probably going to leave a few more than the SoaS pictures, though; I kinda dug it when I put it on. Thinking I will shorten a fair few but keep more on the non-pocket side to balance it out a bit. Fit-wise, I think I could have gone for the 44, but it would have been perfect as is, with a tee. I wanted something I could fit a hoody under (but look good in a tee too), so these fit the bill. I'm doing a warm wash and a dry right now. Will post a fit pit when I'm back stateside.
  10. I have been to BEARS, and that place is so packed with jeans that you can barely fit in there. There is no way they are doing any additional washing. As @Alec Leamas said, I would imagine you got a pair that was sitting on the heating element (mostly), and the other pair was probably protected by a few pairs in the dryer. When I was at Fullcount in Tokyo, I noticed that each patch was different too, didn't really think about it until then but I'd imagine that's why.
  11. I purchased one this morning from Bears so will report back on the silly string. Both FC and SoaS show a lot less than Bears. Will trim mine to look similar to the above.
  12. 3XXX has gotta be one of my all-time favorites. The verticals 👌🏻
  13. After a few years of wear, the threads turn into dreadlocks.
  14. I realized today that I have never washed a denim jacket before. I usually button up my jeans and turn them inside out. Same procedure? Or unbutton everything like I would a flannel shirt?
  15. It doesn't help that Kapital has a fairly tight limit on items produced, which I think is a good thing, but not when you are actually vying to get one.
  16. I saw one dude on Reddit showing his 4-year old pair of lot 470—many washes, "clubbing," et al—and they weren't that far along IMO. Then again, my SE pair are worn a couple of times a month max, so I wouldn't see any fading for a very long time.
  17. Sure, I meant non-fade as in very black—being both warp and weft being dyed—but also, it's like a 5-year feat to fade compared to something like the SC42460 (or something like the Samurai 710BK), which would show significant results in a year.
  18. What's the best way to order Kapital stuff from Japan? I'm looking for a couple of pieces and looking in NA, the prices are crazy!
  19. It's the 101, actually 😆
  20. Not quite the same; I have 1947 from SE, and they are the non-fade black—Blk/Blk. The ones from Bear are more like indigo—fade to grey in reality.
