Good choice @PrettyBoyTony they’re a great cut. The denim is ace too, yeah I think the ever so slightly yellow hue is from the unbleached cotton, the faded areas certainly look a bit browner than any other pair, and true to the Denime / Warehouse era fashion, it faded pretty quickly!!

Thanks and yeah 10 OZ. Sweet in the summer. The denim is a lot darker and rougher in texture than the 1937s I picked up last year. I am going to hold off as long as I can on washes.

You are absolutely right. I went on a nice evening walk last night to try and loosen them up. Did some lunges and squats for the passerby as well, and that helped get these stretched back out. Measured the waist afterwards last night and I'm back up to a hair under 36". It's definitely a great modern cut. I have some Naked and Famous/Unbranded in weird guy/tapered fit that measure really close to the 54s, but the nice addition to the 54 compared to these modern cuts is that the rear rise is a full 1.5 inches taller, which is imperative for not having your ass fall out when crouching or bending. A++ Heading off to my local raw denim shop to have them chain stitch hemmed with the ol' union special. I'll try to post pics when I get them back

Legend! Thanks a lot @Alec LeamasI've decided to go for the 47 then due to the higher rise and smaller leg opening. The denim looks very comfortable and love the faded thighs on your 47s. Almost has a turquoise tint to the fades, maybe because of the added brown cotton? Unless it's just my phone screen. Thanks again 🙏

This also reminds me, that there should be a WW2 pair coming out at some point soon. Hopefully that does get to happen before the mill closes down! Would definitely still pick up a pair if it does.

(Both size 34 by the way!)

@PrettyBoyTony Hopefully you can pick out the numbers on the tape there. More faded pair on left is the 47. One detail I prefer is the rear pocket design on them. Overall I think I prefer the 47, but I do like both. Basically, waist is slightly bigger on the 54’s front and back rise lower, and have less taper than the 47’s (23cm vs 22cm at 70cm inseam). The thigh is actually the same on both, but the rise makes the fit different of course. If you’re in the market for a 47 cut my honest recommendation is the WH DD1001XX 47’s. However, these do come in a close second.

Pulled the trigger on some orizzonti era Denime. Been on the hunt for a while but it was hard to find something in good shape. With the help and advice of beautiful_freak I was able to find something. size 31 measuring 15 laid flat the inseam was advertised as unhemmed which is also rare, measuring about 33 inches. there is crazy leg twist, and shorter than 36 inseam so I’m going to guess these have been washed. They look like they’re been worn for a week. I always wondered how these would fit me, never found a reliable size chart before warehouse took over, never really much information to me. They have baggy thighs and an 8 inch opening and a high rise. I’m guessing these are a relaxed taper. I assume they’re a 501 replica, just not sure what year.

I‘ve got this 1954 too, same size. It‘s for sure on the smaller side but it will stretch. The 1954 is my favourite cut besides the 1967 505. This jean is perfectly made, a real highlight in the newer LVCs- every detail is correct and the denim is extremely hairy and soft after the presoak. A pleasure to wear.

SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)

I went same size in both. The toe box in MIJ is rounder and slightly wider than the 70s - Yesterday

Post soak - waist - 17" FR - 11.5" RR - 15.9" thigh 22.75" hem - 8" inseam - 29" I definitely have to get to work on getting the waist to stretch out here. Was not expecting this at all.
-
Also @airfrogusmc gorgeous pair of '22 you have there. I am guessing those are ~10oz? Would make a nice lighter weight pair.
-
Anyone know when that J58-LP is coming out?
-
I was trolling the old 'bay looking for a more modern cut of LVC to wear for this winter since my 1890 are only 9 oz. Found a pair of '54 rigid BNWT, so made an offer for 175 and was accepted. Just took delivery of them and build date is Week 52, 2021. 36 x 32 pre-soak Waist - 35 (!!!) FR: 12" thigh - 23" hem - 8.25" inseam: 31" (!!!) I am pretty shocked at the dry measurements. Considering my 1890 were so *oversized* I wasn't expecting these to be so *undersized* About to place these in a hot tub of water! post soak measurements will follow soon.

We're all getting up there I guess ha. I used to be a decent enough casual runner, I would try to clock a sub 5 mile as my sort of annual check in. But now I am always training around some sort of injury and I've had to add 30 seconds on to that baseline and be happy with it. Sore achilles for the past 6-7 years (gets better then I overdo it), elbow tendinitis for the better part of four years (trips to PT, gets better, then I overdo it), IT band pain (when my achilles isn't hurting). Sprained ankle every once in awhile too. I wish I could climb but I'm at a strength/conditioning gym 3-5 days a week and just can't add anything on top of that - but I know enough to know that I need that to keep some baseline functioning. Total recovery has seemed to be sort of a pie in the sky notion since I turned 35 (which is some years ago now), lol. But when something is hurting at least there is always something else to do that avoids it! I was just telling my wife though that I need to recalibrate my routines for my current age. Less high intensity and more yoga and walking I think is in the cards. It's just hard for me to "slow down" so to speak, moreso recently than in some years, which is all the more reason that I need to.

Wait till you hit your 50s JW, recovery takes an age.. i've only just recovered from an achilles injury from June 2024 I'd had time away from tennis while i'd been working on the bathroom project.. then i played one of the neighbours on the local clay courts.. i'd never played on clay before and wans't used to the loose powdery surface.. maybe Chucks wern't the best choice of footwear either? At the end of the match i limped home, elevated / iced but by the time i went to bed, i had to go upstairs, backwards on my arse... i couldn't play tennis for 6weeks although cycling was fine. @MJF9 is sick of hearing about it First match thereafter, post-physio.. i strapped my ankle up tight af but tore the calf in my left leg (typical tennis-leg injury) i heard an audible POP! .. I was trying to put less pressure on my injured achilles.. to add insult to injury, i had an allergic reaction to the lycra in the strapping so my lower leg was covered in what looked like burn blisters.. for 6mths after just carrying bags of shopping from the car would hurt my heel.. i couldn't even put my feet up on the footstool. 14mths later i'm now pain free again.. 10am this morning, waiting for the offspring. Do you think Taylor Fritz has to bring a brush to sweep the court..

Bought a Bay Meadows Sweater in dark grey from a sale today. Very very nice. Not quite the quality of Buzz Rickson but similar and a class above Merz B. Schwanen. Perfect fit and very soft quality.

@julian-wolf generally in the same boat as you. after having a baby last year and starting a 9-5 after some time in academia I barely squeeze 2 sessions a week if I’m lucky. It’s mostly the one session on Saturday morning where everyone’s still asleep for me. I’ve sort off switched to climbing mostly on moonboard since I can’t really have projects in the “regular” gym sections, since they change fully within a month. And I can only do 4 sessions a month. Been mostly trying to maintain the same level rather than improving. but hi, at least I don’t have to buy new climbing shoes every 10 months now 😅
