  2. Hello supertalkers... Yes. Just got a relatively astronomical Bandwidth bill for August and we are getting way beyond normal views from China. Still investigating what's up. How has it been this week?

  5. There is a lot for sale on JP auction sites.. https://zenmarket.jp/en/mercari.aspx?itemCode=m18513113493&q=fullcount%2bbrown%27s%2bbeach&p=1 https://zenmarket.jp/en/yahoo.aspx?q=fullcount%2bbrown%27s%2bbeach https://zenmarket.jp/en/rakuten.aspx?q=fullcount%2bbrown%27s%2bbeach It's also worth searching beyond FC to FW's, RMC, Anatomica, RRL.. and so on
  6. Thanks @Double 0 Soul! Unfortunately I can only get to the first 3 pages and the majority of the pictures are lost. I've only been able to find a few odd stock on odd sites, and not much secondhand. Perhaps they haven't been produced in a few seasons.
  7. With OA’s recent Amoskeag denim release, for example, once the proxy fees were combined with the expected import fees, roughly I think pre-ordering from S+S as opposed to Barnstormers would only cost an extra $30 or so, as opposed to maybe over $100 previously. For me, it wasn’t worth it to do the proxy route anymore, even though I have in the past. And since you’re in my region - neither are close by you and both differ in selection - but Today Clothing and Dant together have a lot of bases covered and offer the possibility to buy from regional small businesses - that’s worth something to me. Hard to quantify but worth something at least - enough that I’ll even try to adjust what I’m looking for based on what they stock as opposed to searching all over the world for the specific thing.

  11. Yes I agree. I was curious how the math would compare. Japanese retailers (at least in this case) would only be 10-15% cheaper than the current listed price for a comparable product at Selfedge for example. Since I live nowhere near anyplace to try on denim, it always made sense to buy direct from Japan previously because the price delta was so high. For only a 10-15% difference, the convenience and lower risk (e.g., easy returns) of a US domestic retailer would make a lot more sense for me even if I still could not try on in-store
  12. This has always been the situation in the EU with tariffs and fees for the shipping companies (besides the shipping fee they charge 8 to 15 EUR for doing the customs payment procedure), whether you buy from Japan, US or UK or anywhere else outside the EU.
  13. Me too, worse than before.. I think the elastic band has snapped!
  14. ^ remains to be seen what happens with US retail prices, but I think I’m pausing overseas ordering for now because in the few situations I’ve priced it, it’s not very different from US anymore. That said, usually it’s more about availability or something else than strictly price anyways, but if US retailers can keep their prices in place (presumably they paid some fees already - though probably not as high as now - because they are not de minimis orders), they may do a little better. I don’t know. That’s probably stupidly optimistic. Also, Sufu is painfully slow for me again.
  15. I’m about to find out because my package was delayed. It looks like it’s pay at delivery at UPS. Government fees are about 25% of the item + shipping cost. There is an additional $12 broker fee too. In total, it’s quite expensive

  17. Wayback is just archived internet snapshots.. it's ok for revisiting the way web pages looked in days gone by but you can't use it for recovering chunks of deleted data which is what we needed it for.. i think the mods just told us to use it so we'd shut the fk up while they figured out whet the hell they were going to do.. which was inevitably nothing.
  18. This is exciting news!
  19. ^l tried it once (redline Levi's, post Big E era thread) but couldn't make it work. Then just got pissed off with the whole business thinking 'why am l doing this ffs, l didn't delete the damn thing'. Ended up just leaving.
  20. The WW2 will be released tomorrow/any day now
  21. I'm sad I missed that, Double 0. Did you ever try that 'wayback machine' business whereby one could magically find deleted threads, supposedly?
  22. You could have found an entire 'Beach Cloth' thread over on Denimbro until someone saw fit to delete it.. it had fit pics, fabric comparisons, thread structure, period magazine adverts, original garments from the 1920s, 30s 40s and so on I don't have the energy to do it again but i've got some Brown's Beach.. it's nice.. get some! Best i can muster nowadays...
  23. I have a Brown's Beach vest, and a jacket. The vest is easy to wear and comes into rotation most Winters at some point. The jacket, for some reason the fabric seems a lot heavier and stiffer and perhaps I just need to wear it enough to break it in. I can say however, having seen original BB garments, they are not heavy and stiff.
  24. @julian-wolf really cute photo of you two in the garden, warmed my heart! 😄
  25. Yesterday
  26. I have recently become very interested in beach cloth. Couldn’t find much using the search function, does anyone have experience with the Fullcount Brown’s Beach products or can recommend something else?
