SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)
yung_flynn replied to minya's topic in superdenim
I think that the standard/classic fit may be a bit longer, but I only have a classic fit broadcloth from them. The trim fit is still plenty slouchy though, but presently I would prefer the classic -
Wow that almost looks identical to the WH DD-47 in photos

SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)
yung_flynn replied to minya's topic in superdenim
Here are measurements from base of collar to hem for a range of shirts: 15.5/36 1970s BB - 31” 15.5 Kamakura Ametora - 31” 16/35 2010s BB Milano Fit - 30” 15.5/35 Recent J Press Trim fit - 30” 16/35 2000s BB trad fit - 32.5” range of chest widths in these is huge though too from 20.5-21” p2p for Milano to 25” p2p for 2010s BB trad. Roughly (based on vibes) chest width in increasing order is: Milano, Press Trim Fit, 70s BB, Ametora, BB 2000s-2010s trad fit. Kamakura Vintage Ivy is closest to Press Trim Fit based on memory. However, Vintage Ivy doesn’t fit me well (too constricting in shoulders) so my memory may not be precise -

SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)
yung_flynn replied to minya's topic in superdenim
Dick Carroll might if you contact him. He's usually responsive. The shape and depth of the hem is one of the more telltale sign for dating shirts along with number of buttons and chest pocket (at least for Brooks Brothers). Style & Fashion Drawings: History of Brooks Brothers' Iconic Button Down – Put This On I actually have a 1970's Brooks Brothers ocbd and an Ametora model from Kamakura which is supposedly based on 60s/70s BB in design. I can take a closer look at their lengths sometime this weekend if you are curious. I've noticed that the part of the yoke where it meets the sleevehead is much narrower on the real vintage shirt, so even though the shoulder-to-shoulder distance measures the same as the Kamakura, the vintage BB effectively is more constrictive (but still easily wearable for me). -
In case anyone else is interested, Rockets is now taking reservation orders on Instagram for their VB-41 and VB-42 models which according to Kato-san can be modified to support models from 37-42

Same for me. My feet are super flat and oddly shaped so the wide toe box and lesser arch support sounded appealing. I like my 55 lasted pair of boots and find them pretty comfortable but the level of support and weight isn’t really needed for me while just walking around town. Even for distance running I prefer my less supportive Sauconys to my previous pairs of higher stability Hokas

I decided to snag the RW 9060 flatboxes since I rarely see them in size 13 for my 13.25 Brannock larger foot. Franklin & Poe still had a wide range of available sizes last time I checked. I like them so far. The fit kind of reminds me of barefoot shoes

Again veering off topic but I’m super curious to see how the TCB 1890s roping develops since the hems are not chainstitched but rather super tightly lock stitched. From my single wash post-factory, they seem like they will still develop nice roping. It’s a slight bummer that FC moved away from the L34 and L36 inseams because it means that newer releases will be far too short. I’m perfectly happy with the available options that are long enough for me though

A Yahoo Auctions item? Or did they re-release?

There is also Black Excalibur which is used on the new Beckman (9423), Black Harness used on the 8074 moc toe and 8084 Iron Ranger, and Black Prairie used on the 8849. I do not know much about RW and SB Foot leathers so I can't give much more detail than this. I do believe that the Black Prairie is tea-core black with a brown core like the Black Chrome and Klondike, while the Black Harness is struck through. I do not know about the Black Excalibur. I agree with @Alec Leamas though that the Black Klondike on the Beckman 9060 looks really nice. I've been going back and forth on grabbing a 9060 flatbox for myself since I found a rare pair in size 13 from a US stockist or going with the non-flatbox Cigar Excalibur 9422 (or I may pivot completely and go with a Whites SD). I always deliberate over these types of decisions ad nauseam.

Looking at it again, that size chart is pretty strange too. My 31” waist would need a size 35. Inseam is too short for me anyway

I read the subsequent comments first and still had a good chuckle when I opened the link. I honestly can't decide if they're a winking self-parody or taking wonky self-seriousness to its extreme.

@aho How do you like the new RW Beckman's one month in? My trip back to MN a few weeks ago made me nostalgic and I've never actually owned a pair of RW. Also like you, I've been letting some loose feelers out for an in-between type boot that's less heavy and arch supported than a PNW boot for more casual use, but a little different in vibe than an Alden

Noppasan33 on Yahoo Auctions has another pair of these for a decent price in a good size (W32/L32) if anyone is interested. They look to be in good condition too. https://www.fromjapan.co.jp/japan/en/auction/yahoo/input/u1132235579/

For those with larger feet: Lucchese Tanner ropers in chocolate in size 12. I’m asking $250 shipped but I’m happy to work with you to find a fair price. CONUS is preferred but I can figure out international shipping if anyone is interested. These were my father-in-law’s but he doesn’t wear them and they’re too short for my 13B feet

After living about 10 years in the Twin Cities and Chicago/Evanston, I've missed the lifestyle of walkable cities and public transit my last few years here. I really enjoyed being able to read while riding the train or bus in to the office or lab. In my present location there is no public transit at all and the city is very bike unfriendly as well. I'm just glad now that I only have to drive 10 min to the office without needing to hop on the highway. Our next car most likely will be an EV, although we are not in the market in the near future. Our present location is relatively ideal for owning an EV because space is abundant, and we rarely need to drive more than 15 minutes to a destination on the daily or even more than the 2-2.5 hours to a bigger city (or airport) or deep nature (UP and northern MI). I work tangentially to the EV industry too so there is some personal investment in the technology.

I've been wearing about 50% of the time since July and they're pretty stubborn. Even the knees, crotch, and belt loops are holding color strongly. I don't really mind though because they have a nice depth of color. They did lose some a decent amount of indigo in the wash though based on the tonal contrast with my jacket.

Denim Blunders, Reflections and General Nonsense.
yung_flynn replied to cmboland's topic in superdenim
Haha maybe they had to raise their prices and control export pricing in anticipation of the legal fees to come for their 30th anniversary pair -

I have the standard 232 from last year and like it. I also figured that I’d rather have the 232 than wait indefinitely for the 2002xx to be restocked in my size. Measurements were identical to 2002xx and even the denim feels like Warehouse

It was about 85 F I. Mid/northern MI when we left which was bumming us out along with being cooped up for 6 months after our sons birth. Thankfully it’s been much crisper here.

We’ve been at my in-laws cabin in Minnesota this week and I figured it would be a good time to get some good wear into my Kyotos LL Bean flannel and Denime my son’s first boat ride. Same as above - Denime not visible Warehouse flannel/Denime in less than ideal lighting found my father in-laws shearling coat so I did my best Marlboro Man impression

These have been in and out of my mind along with other pairs that catch my gaze, so I finally looked around for the sizing out of curiousity. The YAMANE website has a pretty detailed size chart. https://yamane.industries/products/lot-1991-no-1-classic-straight-fit-jeans-washed
