  1. I totally understand mate, my son is of a similar ilk. He was telling me and the Mrs the other day about his 'two styles' - baggy streetwear or dad vintage 😂 but would like to extend this to several more 'styles' (whatever they may be) but due to a lack of funds is happy to accept any and all of my old clobber. I've given him an array of t-shirts and tops, mostly old TKmaxx finds from 15-20 years ago. I gave him a levis sherpa and a 70s CWU 45P flight jacket. More recently, after a sudden interest in outdoor wild camping, he inherited the tent before also getting a vintage Berghaus Shadow 60+ rucksack plus all the necessary equipment and a pair of almost brand new but 15+ years old Vibram-soled walking boots so he's doing alright by me. Forgot to mention, also dug out an old, but still great Karrimor hiking waterproof jacket. Despite a long conversation about old clothes, quality decline Mills shutting down and the rise of the reproduction scene some 30 or so years ago, my son can appreciate the quality decline as he's a bit of a thrifter although brings back some dubious items, but otherwise it is information that is outdated and useless as far as he's concerned. The other day he came home with some used baggy bleach wash no name (imo) jeans with some fucking cherubs stitched on the back pocket 🙃 but hey ho.
  2. No trauma for me Neal, simply thinning out the herd of a few pairs of too- small, hardly worn jeans was a blessing. Plus l get to see them being worn and they are getting some much needed love again. The raw lvc 1937s put by for his birthday? - l've owned and worn an identical pair back around 2007-2009 and they faded great but l'm not a great fan of the arcs. I have enough jeans for now 🙂
  3. @vIGGiou riou it wasn't hesitation mate, it was lack of capital at the time. Anyways I have a pair of Csf 41's although they don't have arcs but I'll live.
  4. Looks great! Still bummed l couldn't afford a pair of Hinoya 41's
  5. Yearly update fwiw although l've not bought anything new since my FW'42 tux which is still on ice. 1. Warehouse 1922 (nearly grail already) 2. Csf 1941 s409xxx (garden/yard) 3. Lvc 1963 551ZXX (555) Dark 4. SC47's (with arcs and tab) Darkish 5. Csf 1944 WW2 s409xxx (Almost perfect) Grail rail (perfect pairs) 6. Bootleggers 601xx 1947 7. Lvc 1955 501XX (554) 8. Lvc 1955 501XX (555) 9. Lee 1930 101 cowboy pants (Semi retired) 10. Bartack MiJ 1950s repro 11. Warehouse 1927 (in London now - uncomfortable due to low back rise so hardly wear) 12. Lvc 1880's XX (cosplay only) 13. Lee 1930 101 cowboy pants (too small but too nice to get rid) BNWOT future wearers - 14. FW42's with arcs 15. Lvc 1929 201's (555) 16. Nos OG levis 501 from 1978 Given to my Son as too small - 1. FW47's 2. Lvc 1944's 3. Roy OG's 4. Lvc 1937 BNWOT (not too small, just a bit shit imo)
  6. I've sometimes wished that the spotlight that shines on the niche range of 501XX available during the early 1940s would shine on the niche range of 501XX available during the early 1920s (1915-1921 model, 1922-1925 model, 1926, 1927, 1928-1934 model - l'm guessing here) but at the same time, l'm glad they haven't, at least for my wallet's sake. Probably not as marketable as the WW2 stuff though.
  7. I think there are 6 or 7 denim banners given out to retailers by levis over the years. The first one is from the late 1920s but the second one (shown here) and the third one, both relate to this era of 501XX. This one shows the Copper riveted on the patch also -
  8. Vintage Lvc ephemera, all from the earlier Levis Vintage Clothing era, 1996-2005. Apart from the flashers, waist labels and booklets, there are some early promo/info cards which were apparently available to retailers in the first wave of repros from Levi's back in 1996. There's also a remembrance day promo offer from Cinch in London for this WW2 jeans, tee and duffle bag.
  9. Sorry to hear about your mum @bartlebyyphonics Sending condolences and good vibes your way.
  10. A photo still of Elvis Presley during a break from filming 'Loving you' (1957). I've seen the movie and seen pretty much all of the stills from the movie that are available online but never this particular shot, which l thought l'd share here. 507XX and 501
  11. For sale Bought this jacket about 10ish years ago second hand and haven't really worn it much. It spent most of its life on a hanger. I've always been a bit of a jacket junkie and bought this to replace an MA-1 but nowadays l'm looking to slim down my collection to just regular wearers. So 1948 Buzz Rickson L-2 American Pad and Textile Co model size 42, although imo fits more like a 44, but please go with the measurements listed. This jacket has perfectly working repro Crown spring loaded zippers, no problems or wear with any of the hardware. Even the olive paint on the snaps is without wear. The leather pulls and oxygen mask clip are in good condition. The knits are not tight but aren't baggy, the wrist knits hold their shape well and the waistband, whilst it isn't tight, it drapes well and doesn't grip your waist like a new one (which when you stretch your arms upwards, the waistband stays under your arms even when you return your arms back down). No holes in the knits! The lining is as new, with a clear contract label and US Air force stamp, also the US Air force decal on the sleeve looks like it's vintage because of the general patina of the outside of the nylon outer shell, which just adds to the charm, making it even more of a clone of the real deal. The Nylon used on the shell of this jacket is not thin or flimsy, it's a repro of the very first Dupont Nylon jackets, made between 1947 and 1949. Some watermarks and light wear hopefully shown by the photos provided. Beautiful jacket but time to pass it on. Asking £150 plus postage. Measurements are approximate. Shoulder seam to shoulder seam = 51cm Shoulder seam to end of cuff = 63.5cm Armpit to armpit = 63.5 Armpit to end of cuff = 48cm Collar seam to base down back = 60.5cm (with collar measures 70cm) Collar/neck width (across) = 13cm Waistband (across) = 52cm Apologies as usual for the sufu pic orientation lottery but hopefully they give you a good idea of the condition.
  12. Love those early booklets that came with the first 3 years of production, and the first editions into the UK all had orange labels. So your shirt is a first edition (09/96) - do you still wear any of them @Sympathy-For-The-Denim? I wonder why they had to add the tab to this normally tabless model? Probably for the same reason that they made a few other artistic tweaks, to appeal to a wider audience? I'm thinking of the 1937 201xx as well here.
  13. Early 1990s MiJ Bartack 1950s repro. Bought these raw in the early 2010's for a song. Ditched the patch and modified the arcs, to look more like vintage levis. No hidden rivets but lovely two tone stitching and scoville rivet backs plus off set belt loop. Denim is a greeny blue but difficult to pick up on with these phone images. Photo orientation skills by sufu Ai, not me sorry.
  14. I was like that with the idea of people watching other people play video/console games l mean wtf, just play the game yourself! Having a 17 year old has educated/enlightened me since. Tbh Neal, l only use Instagram for research/info/images of old denim (well and maybe some dodgy reels) and Facebook for entertainment only (comedy mostly but also old lorries). I rarely post on lg now and never post on FB. Like you l only come here now for real world exchanges on the internet.
  15. Looking promising @UkeNo Now we only have 3 pairs of 611 left in the contest as one pair are in the sales thread.
  16. Nicked this from Workwearyears on lg - l'm positive this is an early Lee 101J from the 30s or early 40s judging by the shape of the front pocket and some other details.
  17. Or doobiously shaped 😁
  18. @MJF9 We need more Elizabeth Brices in this world.
  19. Sorry mate l'm editing the post because l misunderstood, no not as far as l'm aware. Single needle arcs until 1935/36(?) I think, then twin needle until 1942. Blank pockets during the war (?) Then Bullhorn from 1944ish onwards l'm guessing.
  20. Correct. This type of arc used on Lee cowboy pants had the 'diamond ' from roughly 1936 onwards.
  21. @beautiful_FrEaK Agreed, they did a good job matching that detail. You must have quite a collection of Sugarcane collectibles now? Maybe time for a How many jeans update?
  22. When l worked for a removal company back in around 2000, l was so hot when doing the job (as were all my colleagues) that it necessitated shorts and t-shirt, even in the cooler months. Obviously my shorts were cut off vintage 501XX 😁 In 2006 l qualified as a drystone waller which l thought would be perfect as l combine my passion for old denim with my passion for being out in nature with my other passion for making things with my hands (l spent 6 years studying sculpture/being a sculptor). Definitely one of the best jobs to enjoy a faded denim tux, unless it's constantly pouring it down with rain of course. The only problem was that my denim wore out too quickly so it wasn't cost effective in the end.
