  1. @chicote It’s the nature of the beast, I’m afraid ... had the same feeling when I had my 1st engineer boots.

U need to tweak your mindset a bit, cuz u’re so used to having things laced up & secured, down there.

Concept is like wearing ur jeans slightly different from how ur used to ... loose & pulled down a bit ... or like, relaxing &  letting your hair down, so to speak :laugh2:

edit: ... & boot socks to boot ;)

  2. @cause4pause To add to @chicote,  hemmed up to a slight break, to allow for residual shrinkage down the line, especially if machine drying.

I was a solid W34 for 8yrs, now forced to embrace my new reality which is migrate to a W36

I’m saying,  if u got something special on hand, hold on to them ... u can enjoy that pair for a lot longer.  Im sharing an experience that recently happened with the Evisu 2000T ... which I initially thought of replacing w/ a size down.

edit: These are my solitary pair of Roys, R01 W36, which felt too big for me at the time ... double hot soaked, then cold washed, set aside & remained unworn ... NOW! Things are looking up :)223C9C4F-FD90-4B46-8526-E312C540E304.thumb.jpeg.b259b348436d09b3f9809832765437f2.jpeg

Initially, double hot-soaked X hang-dried for [this] fit.   They’ve been cold-washed X machine-dried since, to get a bit more shrinkage.

The top block fits much better after 3 washes, IMO.  If I knew [that],  I would’ve refrained from washing,  kept wearing them loose [as shown above] & kept them darker, longer.

  4. @lee porter yeah, u can do the hot wash & just hangdry.  It’s just that when I acquired the W40 I was still a solid W34 on  japs & I was a bit anxious, like u are now, that I may have overestimated the size-up, so I semi-panicked & opted on the nuclear option.

I usually just double hot soak from raw ... not even wash ... but I wanna find out right from the start if it’ll work out or not cuz I don’t wanna waist leg-time on something that’ll not work down the line.

Though the No.1 shrinks like mofo, u just can’t do it one shot ... believe me I tried :P.  It’ll take a couple of washes for the denim to settle & stabilize.  So, initially,  don’t bother ... just wear them loose, better fit will come in time.

I’ll do a fit evo when I get a chance.  Caveat, I don’t have the proportions, like @beautiful_FrEaK ;),  who gets [spot on] fits on the getgo.   In fact, I do a lousy [initial] fit photo ... all the time :laugh2:

    Current measurements: W40L32

    w= 18” , f/r= 11.5” , b/r= 15.5” , u/t= 13.5” , knee= 9” , leg opening= 7.5” , inseam= 31.5”

Yeah I think they probably be the same on me debating on getting the 2000t in a size 42 as the waist seems to be the problem as that what seems to over shrink has anyone else tried this ?

Well I just gone for the w42 theory I’ve pulled the tigger on them I hope it works

    Sound crazy buying a w42

What size are u on other brands?

I’m around W35-36.  I bought my 2000T No.1 at their Ueno store.  I tried the W38 O/W,  but the waist seemed a bit tight, so I went for W40L32 in RAW.  Initially, I just double hot soaked, but they seemed way to loose, so I got them hot washed & machine dried ... which I don’t usually do.

Fast forward 2 washes later,  the denim shrunk like a mofo ... the waist has stabilized at 36”, which fit me much better now. I’m so glad I didn’t go for the W38.

I was interested in the straight jeans but they have super low rises.

The slims, both tapered & straight are basically midrise.  However, the classic straight cut, I agree ... the leg to rise ratio are kinda in the realm of SD-101.

It's one washed already so I think it should be easy to chose, and I think price point is good all things considered

I was thinking in terms of “give” & how the fabric drapes on a classic straight cut.

But, if I go on the narrow tapered route, I’d mosdef size up one to a W36.  I’m guessing ur scoping this cut?!

The Details, Fit, and the Fabric look really nice. Considering that I don't own any Momo and the jeans won't release until August, I might just get these in the Slim Straight fit. Just need to offload a few pairs before they get here :)

More herd thinning ;) ... seem a good momo starter, IMO

Wrangler broken twill..... thats a blast from the past!

Oh yeah, that definitely dates me:smile:

  8. @chambo2008 ‘Was checking that out yesterday.  Their  broken twill denim is something I’d like to experience.  Had it on a pair of Wrangler long long time ago.

Curious to know how the denim behaves, so I can decide which cut to choose.8A685D3F-8D9A-4D8A-9D32-BB8D261DDD91.thumb.jpeg.80f0a21a1caee878f8340143abee0eed.jpeg

Same. If I could change one thing, I would make mine 1-2 inches shorter. But alas, no good hemming service to be found here in Norway. I once took another pair to a store that makes and sells Japanese selvage denim, but they just looked at me weirdly when I asked about the machine and the stitching, and in the end they did it exactly the way I would on my own sewing machine, no better or worse.

Come to think of it, I should’ve asked for a 32” hem on the rigid, instead of 34 . . . I still haven’t washed, though. They’re @32.25” right now & if I can get another inch shrinkage post [couple of] washes, then I’d be ecstatic.

Dependable BiG is a hop, skip & jump away, so I’m not worried  ;)

  10. @chambo2008 Stateside,  the wave is still on the upturn.  Unlike last March, where there were only a handful of hotspots . . . before January ends,  seems it’ll be cresting nationwide.

I work at the airport.  The new terminal opened right in the midst of the 1st lockdown.  I walked inside the new lobby for the 1st time on my 1st day at work &  [this] cold, glaring virus-like monstrosity hangs at the center of the lobby, as if mockingly . . . a constant reminder why life sucks atm :laugh2: 44A93C11-1958-4BE7-BD10-6F611E339024.thumb.jpeg.0ac41a76141636e07207198008c321d5.jpeg

However, I’m fairly optimistic 2021 will be a much better year for most of us still breathing ... normally.

edit: apologies for the slight derailment

  11. @tredd626 Damn! Such commitment & devotion . . . wifey’d divorce me for half that enthusiasm:biggrin::laugh2:

  12. @chambo2008 That was me, furloughed  during the NYC lockdown . . . 4mos mostly indoors in my Evisu & then rendered my legs to the contest TCBSWW2 from September:)

Been back working since November.  I hope we don’t go back to lockdown again:mellow:
