  1. ^ didn’t some of the Champloo SdA jeans do the same, too?
  2. @blooming has it stayed intact? I remember when they first started doing this a couple folks tried picking the stitches and their tabs ended up disintegrating over the next few wishes, I guess just from the damage done by the bar tacks. I never wanted to risk it with mine. Maybe they’ve changed how they do it?
  3. Tilley hat / Ooe cossack / Tender Co. tee & trousers / Hollows belt / Russell mocs
  4. @rodeo bill That’s really neat! I guess even without the surrounding cells still alive, the chlorophyll’s able to do its thing. I might try and reproduce that little experiment—seems like a fun one to show the younger students (“bet your socks can’t do this!”)
  5. Home sick, xxxtra cozy Tender coat & socks // Ues waffle knit // SC40300 // Birks
  6. Thanks! No, no reasoning behind the orientation of the patch besides having had a piece of scrap denim around that was the right size & shape if I oriented it like that…
  7. Recently patched over a knee blowout on the M41119 that I use mostly for climbing Did it all by hand, which I had never actually tried out before for this sort of repair, & I’m really happy with how it’s turned out
  8. M41119 also coming along well Good looking, good fitting, well made jeans, but the pockets (front & back both) are too small for me to ever want to use them day to day—so these will forever just be for climbing & yard work too Just finished up a fun knee blowout repair; meanwhile, I left them outside to dry one night after a sweaty day & an enterprising squirrel made a meal out of them (I guess it wanted the salt) so there’s still a bunch of little holes around the thighs & seat that I need to patch up. Besides that, plenty of life left
  9. M41057 I’d had an old stock pair of these in the closet for a while still rigid. Could tell they were going to be absolute favorites, but I guess I was just saving them for a rainy day? These showed up on Yahoo for a steal, washed & hemmed short but otherwise like new. Snatched them up w/ the intention of using them mostly for climbing & yard work, since I knew the legs would be too short for regular wear. Really happy with how they’ve been wearing in, and the fit is just about perfect. Makes me look forward to the dead stock pair all the more.
  10. They both look gorgeous, but don’t you live in Texas? I can’t even imagine getting wear out of that thing in Northern California…
  11. Bronson Mfg. / Pop Punch / Orgueil / Hollows / Tender Co. / Russell
  12. Perfect fits all around. Would love to find one of those jackets in my size in good condition
  13. @indigoeagle I think the rivets shown there are indeed the round / chubby kind—compare to, e.g., the ones used at the front pocket opening As far as I can tell (someone please correct me, otherwise??), there’s no historical precedent for the extra extra chubby backs that The Vanishing West use for the backs of their buttons & hidden rivets
  14. @l13902733261 Ironing will flatten it out no problem, but if the creasing is caused by the pants being tapered enough towards the hem that the cuff is bunching up the fabric above it then it’ll likely come back before long
  15. For a more formal look you shouldn’t be wearing Paraboots…
  16. Really excited to hear your impressions on the Limmer boots; I’ve been admiring those as a possibility for a long time
  17. Took the dog for a jaunt by the bay this morning & threw some sticks Picked some fennel flowers & fluffy grass while we were there for a little front porch display feat. old Bronson cap, Tender Co. shirt & socks, natty Cane’s, Moto blutchers
  18. I’d say a 34 in standard Cane’s is about the same in the waist as a 33 in Freewheelers, although maybe borderline They seem to have pretty consistent sizing across their main offerings, but the MiUSA run very small, so it wouldn’t be too surprising if this new line was sized differently too…
  19. Trying out possible selfie spots @ the new digs Ooe / Okolehao / Tezomeya / Tightly Stitched / SC40300 / White’s
  20. What about the 13MWZ doesn’t work for you? Are you just looking for a fancier alternative?
  21. Thanks, all! @beautiful_FrEaK Yeah, all repairs done by me so far
  22. Couple action shots of the M41057 from yesterday, since it came up…
  23. 1001XX still going strong List of repairs now includes front left pocket bag + pocket opening, rear right pocket, right side of crotch (both panels), & lots of replaced stitching; next on the list will be front right pocket opening, rear left pocket, and button holes Saturation and contrast are about right, but the color balance is way off in most of the photos; they aren’t nearly so gray looking in person. The closest to true are the photos looking up the legs from the hems and the full back shot.
  24. @beautiful_FrEaK No, didn’t get a chance to take any photos before I started wearing them, but planning to after their first wash More and more over the past year or so I’ve been feeling like the M41058 are my favorite jeans I’ve ever worn, and really really wishing that another pair would show up in good condition—& last month they did! These are 2 sizes larger than my other pair, but I’m around 1 size larger than I was when I got the others, so it evens out okay… The comparison between old and new is stark: this denim takes a while to show wear, but really ages aggressively after a certain point
  25. @Hopethisoneisnttaken The crotch & butt tore through on the M41200 in 4 places just a couple of weeks ago. I’m planning on doing pretty comprehensive repairs (they’ve treated me too well for too long for me to want to just let them die), and will try & post some before and after photos I’ve also been putting a good amount of climbing wear into a pair of M41057, which are absolute favorites (I still have a dead stock pair that I’m saving for a rainy day, but found a good deal on a second pair in my size that had been hemmed short & very lightly worn and I couldn’t resist), and a pair of M41119 that are midway through repairs right now for holes on the knees They work great for it
