^ and that makes me think of my "photographers'" journey from discomfort to a way of life
-
haha that could be a matter for @Maynard Friedman in his esteemed capacity to address 😉

We're all good with the size of the judge panel and good to have you on it OO... having such a number of judges voting independently should end up in a balanced and fair result when all added up... well that's the intent I took it that your message that you'd quite enjoy judging was a yes... the only thing I never provided (yet) was that golden buzzer... but look you can have a virtual one !! And yeah for sure you can judge it from the final shots alone... that's what all judges can base their final decisions on, irrespective of how much thread action they've seen (which may be lots or may be little)... Finishing in around June 2026 is some time off, but we have a plan... what could possibly go wrong??!! 😉

With a combined experience of nearly 5,000 years denim-wearing and denim-scrutinising experience (give or take a few years 😜), I’m very happy to introduce the contest judges… @Maynard Friedman @Bobbo @chicote @CSL @Double 0 Soul @Dr_Heech @Duke Mantee @Flash @oomslokop Simone @smoothsailor I hear you - it's the mother of all judging panels!! Thank you judges for signing up to play a part in the competition. I think we can safely say the winners will deserve it 😀 … to anyone inadvertently missed from the list - mia culpa, our apologies - we’re getting older, busier and more forgetful… please continue to join in along the journey... So… how will it work? Here's the outline... Each judge will pick their 1st, 2nd and 3rd places Each place will be worth points. Points make prizes. 1st place = 4 points 2nd place = 2 points 3rd place = 1 point There will be no sharing, no conferring between judges. They will make their own choice, without influence. Maynard will be the lead judge. He’ll consolidate all individual judge’s scores and total them up to give a grand total… and the winners! NB - we need to work through what we'll do if there is a tie for places (we have a little time to decide that 😉) Maynard will announce the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places Game on!!

We're gathering momentum nicely here... and something more to whet the appetite... An update from Simone on the 1942 model ... choices choices choices... I would like to do the 42 this way: 411S/611 Fit No buckle back Crotch rivet Standard yoke Denim pocket bags (Ooe amoskeag fabric) no rivets on coin pocket WMJ Buttons No tacks on back pocket Inspired by pair #24 in the Levis book. I'll post another exciting update soon

^ Tezomeya - certainly for the larger size called 185cm these are longer and good for tucking - the link has chest/length sizes to see if they'd work for you
-
Looking forward to the fit pics 😂... the old ones are the best ones

@PrettyBoyTony sounds like you need to contact our resident belt-maker to the stars @Duke Mantee!!!

Interesting question @bartlebyyphonics - thanks for this... Ooe x Bandanna Almanac v FW 'double' leg Both 10oz, both dungaree denim though sure they will age differently Fit-wise... FW is more voluminous and is heavier simply by virtue of more fabric (750g Ooe v 900g FW, weighed them!) Ooe more fitted in the hip / top block and straight leg, akin to stovepipe. But still plenty of space. FW are wider in hip by c5cm Both have same FR (35cm) but FW have much bigger BR by c7cm (a whopping 52cm for FW v a sizeable 45cm Ooe) In terms of the legs... Ooe 'double' leg starts at the pocket. In fact, at the large 'coin' pocket there are 3 layers of denim (see pic). Notably though, they don't feel 3 layers worth of heaviness. Ooe 'double' leg ends at the row of stitching above the hem and, interestingly, at that row of stitching only part of it is stitched to the denim underneath (see pic) FW 'double' leg starts at the thigh but runs all the way down to, and including, the hem The back of the jeans both have a cinch but have differences e.g. Ooe single pocket, FW double plus. Let me know if anyone wants more info and photos and I can post that in an appropriate thread.

Talking of curtains... We all know the (metaphoric) curtain we'd really like to see behind In return for a full WAYWT pic from @Maynard Friedman, I'd personally be willing to let him pick the contest denim!!! 😀

@beautiful_FrEaK you're too kind... happy to provide ein bisschen Hilfe... (though important to say now right up front that... I was not involved in, either directly or indirectly, the provision of any advice, opinion or data that was subsequently used by any contest participant in the sizing of their contest jeans e.g. any decisions to 'size down' for a proper Sufu look were entirely the participant's choice... this disclaimer is currently with my legal team 😉)
-
Makes sense the start date is driven by the reality of the production timetable - gives us something to look forward to at the end Jan! This is still moving forward at a reassuring pace - thanks to you b_F and Simone I think we've got enough pairs of jeans to keep us going until then 😉
-
^ cool with me, given it's more likely we get critical mass that way 👍
-
Interested! 40s or 30s cuts with good sized rises and volume would be cool
-
Thanks @beautiful_FrEaK
-
@Dr_Heech Junior has brought out the very nice hues in that denim 👏
-
Just been chatting on this Small scale maker to suit small scale comp, limited to Sufu members Methinks better if we agree on a cut and everyone has the same jeans full stop, perhaps a choice of cinch or not would enable easier consensus 😉 The easier we can make decision making from Sufu and the maker, the more likely it is to get off the ground WoM could be the way forward here...

Continued... Cable car up Mount Trebevic, site of the 1984 Winter Olympics in Bosnia… and the abandoned bobsled Watched FK Sarajevo win 3-1, more than my own club could muster It was the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival so we watched a few films, documentaries actually… recommending The Sky Above Zenica and a striking short documentary called Pain (intense) We were back row, the projector was behind me and Junior MJF9... perfect for casting shadows at the credits!! Then onto the next stop (Mostar) via Sarajevo’s beautifully brutal railway station
