  1. To reshape you'd need the pro equipment i.e. a heating box full of tiny glass beads (looks like sand). Even with this you need to be very careful. I've watched my optician manipulate a number of vintage frames I've brought in. He'll get to a certain point & say, 'I think this is as far as I can push it'. He'll offer to go further if I take the responsibility for breakage but I've never took the risk. Regarding sanding off edges, you'd also need a means of polishing them back to a high shine.
  2. Searching the internet tonight I came across this site which I thought was Redcast Heritage, but then after noticing what appeared to be some 'too good to be true' discounts, I examined the URL which reads www.redcastheritageco.com rather than https://redcastheritage.com I hope no one here got scammed. Frankly I was right on the verge of ordering a couple of things before it became apparent that something was amiss. I've sent an email to the real Redcast Heritage. What a pain in the ass for them. The internet is a crazy place.
  3. I rarely make coffee anymore but next time I do I'll be mindful of your number 3). I've erred on that in the past due to impatience...
  4. I'm not as deep down the rabbit hole on this subject as some of you, but I'm surprised indeed that they didn't copy that bit of orange stitching on the originals. It seems crazy considering the amount of trouble they've gone to in general.
  5. I first started seeing people who were generally into vintage clothing, wearing vintage Levis in the mid 1980s. There was already a strong collector interest by that time although the astronomical pricing was not yet in effect. A person with foresight could have salted away a king's ransom-worth of blue gold...
  6. Very decent of you, jkbrwn! I've been following the stray problem in Kern, dumping dogs in the orchards, etc. It's very distressing.
  7. McFly has been good to deal with. They are one of the few who consistently stock FW shirts in 17.5. I actually visited the physical store in Osaka a few years ago (2016) .
  8. Is he unreachable now? I know you guys had been in regular contact.
  9. Slightly off topic but in my experience once the original batteries die you better get used to having old macs plugged into power permanently. Replacements from Apple Store or aftermarket batteries deteriorate very quickly.
  10. Thanks! Acquired on a recent trip to Standard & Strange in Berkeley. As for the weather it was back to coat & hat as soon as the sun went down, but nice while it lasted.
  11. Unseasonably warm weather in our part of California today. Buco, Hollows, FW prospector pants, vintage boots
  12. I recall Mister Freedom having deepish pockets. That may vary by model though. I only own the 44s.
  13. Add me to the list of those who've had good service from Takeoff. Think I've ordered from them three or four times at this point.
  14. John Gluckow Companion The rest - vintage
  15. Just watching a Hells Angels documentary...^^^Apparently true!
  16. Is there a way to add a marker to the map? I'm probably missing something obvious...
  17. The Full Count WW2 model is wider than most. FW WW2 is somewhat wide. Mister Freedom 44 model similar.
  18. Guessing I'm not the only one who follows 'theworkwearyears' on IG They recently posted a nice set of pics with cowboys wearing type 1 jackets.
  19. It's nice to have a new option & not have to be limited to 'mammal-toe'.

    Vintage Denim?

^^^Very interesting & informative^^^ Thanks for taking the time to do this.

    Vintage Denim?

A set of Levis trade cards just sold on Ebay. Interesting to me, the 1st pic guy appears to have his jacket tucked into his pants.
  22. That's a pity. I have a pair of Oak Street, & while I knew when I bought them, they were a bit below the standard of the connoisseur brands, they have held up very well for years now.
