According to convention a true dress shirt does not have pockets. Then again this kind of shirt is intended to go under a suit jacket so pockets would be pointless in that arrangement.
Personally I like that kind of shirt but I always wear them with a tie, & usually a jacket.
Yeah. Me too. The extra inch of rise outweighs all other aspects for me.
I'm also going for the full inseam in the hope of achieving 'Gary Cooper High Noon pineapple chunk turnups', as one of my school chums described them.
My favorite denim remains the Sugar Cane Lee repros from the late 90s. I've never seen anything to compare with it. And the magic feeling of walking into a store in Japan & realizing these kind of jeans existed...Priceless.
I also rate highly the custom pair I had made by Iu of Companion Denim in Spain. I chose a heavy denim, 18 or 19 oz. It's aged really nicely & doesn't come across as a trendy slub-monster.
So I got a reply.
2 sizes = 2 inches (as most would tend to do with raw unsanforized.
I was confused. Because I'm 36(ish) I thought S was suggesting going up to 40...
It all makes more sense now.
I dunno. Might still go for 40 😝
So the organizers have kindly allowed me to squeak in as a contestant & consequently I won't be judging.
I'm leaning to the 50s model because of the higher rise.
Still trying to figure out sizing. Simone's advice on going up by 2 sizes vs Tilmann's sample pair stretching back to the raw waist measurement is severely testing my decision making capabilities...
In any case I'm very happy to be a part of this with you all!
Yes. Still one of my favorite fits. High rise but less hip flare than most of that style.
I sometimes consider having mine repaired by a chainstitch expert.
Didn't some of some of the Japanese brands used to sell jeans pre faded like that?
Supposedly they were replicas of vintage examples worn by cow ropers who I guess spent a lot of time in a deep squat stance, bracing against the cow they had lassoed, hence the heavy creasing & fading on the backs of the knees.
Oh dear! Sorry to hear that Shredwin. Hopefully it's not some sort of emergency on Mike's part. I can't imagine him stopping communication like that unless it was something serious.
I was considering a jeans/jacket combo in that fabric, but got cold feet, thinking about the pile of denim already existing on my closet.
Of course in the meantime I've bought more jeans/jackets...
