  1. @Broark Thanks for digging around. Yeah, that’s about where I’d landed, too. The price doesn’t seem fair compared to what it cost in 2015, but then again it’s probably about what FW would charge if they were to make another run of them now, so…it’s hard to complain. Still might go for it, especially with how weak the yen is staying
  2. I don’t know anything about Alden, but I’ve never had anything besides good experiences with Topy-style paste-on soles…
  3. Are they rereleasing the Kingfisher bag this season? Saw one pop up on Yahoo and Mercari with a nominal 24 product code, but not having any luck finding reference to it elsewhere
  4. @Graytrain I’ll keep you in mind. I think they’re on the smaller end for their tag size, and are tagged 32 or 33 (I’m sure I’ve posted better info somewhere or other…)
  5. ^ Good buy, my pair have been some of my all-time favorites for the past few months
  6. Trying out the untucked shirt look for summer Tilley / The Flat Head / Cane’s / White’s
  7. Old jeans new knees M41200 feat. Union Special cap, Tezo tee, Hollows belt, old Cabourn kicks
  8. And some interior photos, which I think have been lacking from previous updates…I'm a sucker for the 2x-spliced-together selvedge lines down the outseams, and for the oxidized–bleached spots where the front rivets hit the back yoke, when the jeans are folded.
  9. Had some time to kill w/ a needle and thread this week while out of town, so I put some more time in on the old M41200 that got their seat replaced earlier this year. Knees were wearing dangerously thin all the way out to past the outseams. Did the topstitching around the edges of the denim by hand, then closed everything up on the machine after getting back home. The patch fabric is leftover from some SC40302 Okinawa jeans that are now cutoffs, I think the grass-dyed version (whatever that means). Throwing in some general wear photos, too, while I'm here: the seams where the new denim from the last repair meets the old are starting to see some nice puckering!
  10. @shredwin_206 Really liking them a lot. Mostly only wear them off road to save the honey soles (this was on the way to the beach w/ the dogs). I like the finishing on my Frank's better but these are built like tanks, plus they're a lot lighter—and the leather is my favorite of the "work" leathers that I've tried, super supportive and not too bad of a break-in. Couldn't ask for anything more in a pair of (what I think of as) hiking boots. Will probably go for a second pair at some point. I think I did a quick write-up on these in the Shoes thread not too long ago, with some photos & some further thoughts.
  11. When I was a kid, we spent around a week each year at a family friend's cabin up in the mid-Sierra, off of the 108. It's on a (dammed) lake, so plenty of swimming, fishing, exploring, etc. Over the span of the 2010s, the lake got more and more crowded, and I focused my spare time less and less on frontcountry. Around 10 years went by without me visiting. Anyway, this summer we got an invitation to go back. I'm taking a few months off from work, so time isn't as much of a commodity for me; and, anyway, there's something going on with the connective tissue in one of my knees, so backcountry hiking is off the table for the time being. Cabin trip seemed perfect. Spent last week laying low, playing board games, sitting + swimming + fishing by the water, working on fixing up an old pair of Cane's…lots of fun through and through.
  12. Tilley / Great Lakes / Power Wear / Duke's / The Vanishing West / JK
  13. ^^ Yeah, I had to get rid of my Jesse shirt for the same reason—fit good through the body, shoulders, neck, but the forearms were a definite no go
  14. Dang, you all must wear jackets like I wear pants… For me, as far as I can remember, it's just: Levi's Rigid II Trucker, size L, now a vest Kapital Century Denim No. 7s rider jacket, size 44L (could probably have gone 46) Sun Surf SS14450 Okolehao Ranch Blouse, size 42 Tender Co. Type 900 10th anniversary edition woad overdye, size 4 Tender Co. Type 902 sans overdye, size 4
  15. New Warehouse tee, plus first time wearing sneakers in like 2+ years Union Special / Warehouse / Tightly Stitched / The Vanishing West / The Flat Head
  16. @AlientoyWorkmachine Really really really big fan of Tezo tees. (Not sure if you keep up w/ the fancy T-shirts thread, but I did just post some nice photos of a well-worn example a week or so ago.) Their sizing is a little funny but also pretty forgiving, as the fabric is on the loose / stretchy end. I’m generally an L / 40-or-42 / 16.5-or-17 in Western brands, and an XL / 44 / 17-or-17.5 in Japanese brands. I have two Tezo tees in 185 cm that are much longer than I’d like them to be in the body, but that otherwise fit very well; I have two in 175 cm (and two more on the way, as it happens) that are trim and pretty flattering, if maybe a little narrower than ideal through the shoulders. I think my perfect size would be somewhere between the two, but I happily wear both on a regular basis. Hope this helps—plenty of other WAYWT pics floating around, as points of reference, if you care to search (the green and yellow tees are 185 cm; the above-pictured and the purple henley are 175 cm).
  17. Tilley / Kapital / Tezo / Hollows / The Vanishing West / Russell
  18. @Josh'N'Roll Around how worn are they? Potentially very interested
  19. ^ True, the @bartlebyyphonics look could def. do it justice
  20. This one's too utilitarian for me—or rather, I guess, too utilitarian while having a strong focus on small game hunting, which is not at all relevant to me. In particular, the way that the cut balloons out so much towards the bottom makes a lot of sense from the perspective of wanting to fill up all of the pockets, but makes a lot less practical sense from the perspective of just wanting a vest to wear around for fun and not look too silly in the process.
  21. How’s the left pocket configured on the Blythestone? Hard to tell from photos
  22. ^ I think a lot of it connects to the history of what was available around the middle of the last century, when jeans were starting to gain traction in Japan: my understanding is that most of what they had access to was leftover stock from US soldiers, which would have centered more around the “golden sizes” typical to US men of the time, making them fairly oversized for most Japanese folks. This caught on as the way jeans were expected to fit, and I guess it sort of just stuck.
