  1. There’s lots of different 100% cotton jeans that shrink different amounts, so I’m not sure what sort of comparison you’re looking for. In my memory the Hawaii shrunk a pretty average amount in the wash, maybe a little more than average in the dryer
  2. I haven’t taken photos of pants, because I’m currently wearing 1/2 of them. I also haven’t taken photos of tees (2x), a whole big slew of socks, nor a variety of smaller things (shades, watch, mugs, gloves, kerchief, ???). With those exceptions out of the way, finally: jackets & coats. Shown first are the Type 961 Baste Pocket Jacket, in red ochre cotton velvet; the Type WS922 Welsh Flannel Curve Front Jacket (Thanks Austin!); the Type 425 Double Cuff Flat Jacket, in some sort of very soft (felted?) wool. Last but not least are the Tenth Anniversary Edition Type 900 and the standard Type 902.
  3. Next, shirts. Before I tried anything else from Tender Co., I was a big fan of their wool & mohair socks. I thought that the rest of the clothes were a little too out there for me (go figure). At some point in maybe 2017 or 2018, I was in Standard & Strange and they asked if I wanted to try out one of the shirts. It wasn’t for sale—I think they’d stopped even stocking Tender Co., by that point, besides maybe belts and socks—but I guess another regular had dropped it off as a pay-it-forward sort of deal, just in hopes that it would find a happy home. It was some or other version of (I think) the Type 423 Wallaby shirt, and at that point in grad school I wasn’t going to say no to a free fancy shirt. I started trying to work it into my style, and before too long a switch flipped and I “got it”. I’m still really thankful to whomever dropped the shirt at S&S, and to the staff who was working that day and saw fit to pass it on to me (sadly, I’ve long forgotten who that would’ve been). Through them, a long-term appreciation & obsession were born. The shirt in question was eventually joined by 2x Type 492 Bench Shirts, in indigo chambray tote cloth + in henna handkerchief check; the Type 452 Bridge Pocket Square Tail Shirt, in Hadal green Herdwick stripe casement; the Type 445 Short Sleeved Boomerang Shirt, in Prussian blue carding cloth. (Not shown is a Type 420 Long Sleeve Tail Shirt, in walnut cotton tote, which I almost like quite a bit, but rarely end up wearing in practice, I think because of the bright red buttons. I’ve also sadly had to pass a couple others on due to inconsistent sizing.)
  4. Photo dumps incoming! First, sweaters. Shown are the Type 799 Mirror pPanel Double Pullover, in blackberry stitch lambswool; the Type 781 Tube Neck Pullover, in cold felted lambswool; the Type 751 Wide Rib Barnacle Neck Pullover, in Shetland wool blind fair isle knit wool. The Mirror Panel Pullover, in particular, is a long time favorite. (Not shown are both the cardigan and the turtleneck version of the Pop Punch Rap Promoter sweater, the latter of which was a gift from my partner.)
  5. Yes! Reading that now, I do remember the blurb about the cold felted lambs’ wool from when these came out. Thanks so much for digging that up! Anyway, here are some action shots for the archive:
  6. MiUSA 1946 after not much wear and some minor edits (testing out designs for the upcoming Word of Mouth contest)
  7. A question for the Tender Co. historians: Was there ever a Type 781 Tube Neck Pullover? I have something that I’d thought was this, but after wearing it yesterday for the first time in a while I tried looking it up to get some more info and wasn’t able to find any reference to it ever existing…
  8. ^ My post just earlier on this page includes a slew of repeats It seems pretty common for folks to post repeats in their collections
  9. If the standard (non-contest) patch is an option, that will always be my preference…
  10. That’s funny, I feel pretty much the opposite. The S601XX are close to perfect jeans, for me. They fit dead on just like the R01, and like the R01 they’re made to extremely high standards with top notch materials. That’s great, because if I could just keep wearing R01s forever I probably would. The only issue is that the S601XX denim is too artificially slubby & too fast fading & doesn’t seem to rope and pucker as well as the standard 601XX denim, so I’m stuck having to go back and forth between these and my ‘51s.
  11. @indigoeagle Yep, really pleased with it so far
  12. Same same Great Lakes x2 / Power Wear / Cane’s / Russell
  13. @jkbrwn Thanks! Great Lakes Gmt. Mfg. Co. is a Freewheelers label, also responsible for Bubo Sport Togs. Not much info floating around besides what’s here on this forum (largely courtesy of Duke), but generally speaking they’re a [fictitious] outdoors- / sports- / hunting-wear company based in the Midwestern US and operational from around the 1910s through around the 1970s. (The Great Lakes shirt that I’m wearing above is the same that Broark has on in the post below mine)
  14. @bartlebyyphonics Yep, snagged from eBay with some very light wear (uppers creaseless and insoles printless) and this’ll be my first full day in them! I’d love a pair of Knockabouts some day; these are some or other version of the Zephyr, with a double bottom and a stiff heel counter. I guess the leather is chamois or nubuck, fantastically soft on the outside but too early to say much else about it
  15. New [old] boot day + 38 °F out in sunny California Tilley / Great Lakes / Ballpark / Duke / Cane’s / Russell
  16. Better that than putting on $1000 of Rick Owens wares to shitpost about jeans…you’d still be 3/4 naked
  17. This years Jacks o’ lantern found themselves well in the category of Things That Look Better With Age
  18. ^^ Can’t speak for the other end of things, but giving their seal of approval to these weird looking fashion sneakers (& associated weird looking overpriced fashion clothes) was the last nail in the coffin for my ability to take Self Edge seriously
  19. Tilley, Tender Co. x3, Tezo, Hoggs (+ morning Luvhaus)
  20. 2x Type 492 Bench Shirts today, matching pressed buttons = cross-buttoning madness also feat. Achille’s Heel Type 132
  21. Yep, I had an SE for a long time and just switched to a 12 Mini a couple years ago. It’s too big, but less too big than any of the other viable options (emphasis on viable), and all things considered iPhones do seem to hold up great
  22. ^ Why not just ask whoever’s selling you your pants to measure the pockets for you ??
  23. The gusset almost looks after-market??
