For my 70s, I put in a slightly larger shoe tree for some time and they fit much better now without hurting my pinky toe. Even so, it could be because I broke them in more but that's the story I tell myself.

@theguywhoknewthatguy Thanks a million! I'll have to compare it with a size 40 and go from there. I'm ~5'10" and 160 lbs and usually go for a 38/40.

Anyone have any experience with the 16.25 oz Okinawa denim Type I? There's a size 42 on Grailed and the measurements look good. However, I'm apprehensive considering the usual measurements of size 42s in SC jackets such as the Type II with the Okinawa/Hawaii denim that are markedly different.

This exact video of Andrew Chen of 3Sixteen/SENY darning a pair of Strike Gold's in the summer of 2011 brought me to raw denim. Akin to @nycsurfer530, I started with a pair of Samurai S710s thinking they were my "grail" pair. Now I am more than happy with my SC1947s.

I got the white 4601 loopwheeled tee and gave it a wash, I couldn't discern any shrinkage from the wash and hang drying.
I'd love a review/fit pics sometime soon!

See I have some that last, but most of mine have stitches that are fraying at the bottom along the body. Hoping WH is my new go to for tees.
Good news: I recently emailed Kiya asking if Self Edge will stock more of WH's slub tees and maintained they're getting some in the Spring and Summer in a range of color ways.

I've been on the hunt for some short sleeve sweatshirts and am wondering if anyone has experience with the Todd Snyder + Champion short sleeve sweatshirts? I'm a big fan of the fit from the recent iterations of the loopwheeled sweatshirts by RMC; i.e. short hem, high armholes, thick ribbing on the hem, etc.

Do the 50s have a tapered hip like the SC 1947s?

Although it's not personally my thing, the "fade" of the HBT is ridiculous.

I'm watching a pair of Yuketen Angler Mocs in 9.5 (they're labeled Ranger Mocs but, judging from the detailing, they're the Angler Mocs) in eBay and am wondering about the sizing. I've done extensive research on Yuketen sizing heard that the Angler Mocs can be TTS, a half size down, a bit large, or anything in between.
Thanks for any advice!

They don’t shrink in the wash at all.
You are definitely a size 38 or 40. Since you want a 24.5” length I would say get 40, although even that might not make them long enough... according to some measurements it looks like flat head might have made the newer THCs a little longer though...
let me know if you want any more help! The tees are awesome if it’s not too hot!
IIRC, you went 40 on them, what's the length on yours? Honestly, anywhere between a 24-25" length should be fine.

I'm in the market for a THC shirt or two from the Flat Head and have a few questions about fit. First, how do they shrink in the wash? Second, how do people usually size on them? At the moment, I'm somewhere in between a size 40/38 depending on the size charts.
My main concern is the length; I'd like to keep it around 24.5-25" length from the base of the collar to the hem. Just for fun, I'd like to keep the chest width anywhere around 36".
Anyone with experience want to chip in? FYI, I'm 5'10 and ~150 lbs with a slim/average build.

@beautiful_FrEaK Alright thanks for the advice. The rear of my 3009s are a bit saggy but it's more to blame on the present over sized fit than anything. IIRC, you went true to size correct? I've seen people here go one down (to account for stretch) or TTS depending on what they're looking for.

I've been on the hunt for a pair of Warehouse 800s (on the cheaper side) for some time and, yesterday, found a pair for $130 on Grailed.
I'm presently working on a pair of size 33 TFH 3009s. They're beautiful pair of jeans in every way but my gripe is that the seat and waist (when shrunk are ~31" and stretched to 32") are looser than I'd like after stretching out with some wear.
On the other hand, I have a pair of size 31 SC Okinawas that I've worn in a few years ago that fit tighter in the top block. The waist stretched out to ~31" and the seat/rise feel comfortable. I think the "tapered" seat/waist and higher rise makes it more comfortable.
In essence, what kind of seat do the 800s have? Does it have a slight taper like the SCs? What kind of stretch should I experience as well? I've heard that they can go to raw with some effort. Just for reference, I'm 5'11" and ~155 lbs with a slim/average build. I usually go for a 31 in most brands.

Thanks guys! The amateurish pictures don't do the scenery justice. Iceland's landscapes are so dramatic and feel prehistoric with all of the geological activity going on. I'll drop one more set of photos and post-wash (they've really developed an interesting texture) before I send them off to @wolfofthesea this week.

Sorry for the lateness in my updates! But the rest are a series of photos ranging from basalt columns in the southern coast, empty roads, lava fields by Lake Myvatn, and a final evening hike to Glymur (Iceland's second highest waterfall).
The trip was the most exciting part of my leg of the tour (I live in a quiet suburb north of Chicago) and it's near the end of the month so who is next?

Hi all, my wife and I are back from our 8 day trip to Iceland. We took ~2k photos (of varied quality) in order to vividly remember the trip. We rented a car, took the Ring Road around the country, and stopped at various spots we found interesting. For example, we didn't stop by the Blue Lagoon (far too pricey and overcrowded with tourists [an issue Iceland is presently facing]), Geysir, waterfalls (Gullfoss, Godafoss, Detifoss, etc.), and others.
From Chicago, we took an evening flight from O'Hare to Reykjavik and landed there around 6 in the morning. Because we didn't want to be jet lagged, we decided to power through the first full day by quickly checking out the city and a few other spots before our stop to Skogafoss in the south. Among many things, we passed by the Hallgrímskirkja Church. After seeing a few sights in Reykjavik, we stopped by Þingvellir National Park about an hour outside of the city. This is where the European (?) and North American Plates split and where Iceland's Parliament during their early settlement period. It's also where, I believe, they filmed the Bloody Gate from Game of Thrones. Then we headed south on the Ring Road. We stopped by Bobby Fisher's grave in Selfoss; my father-in-law came with us and is an avid chess player so he wanted to pay respects. We also stopped by the Seljalandsfoss waterfall off the highway. It's supremely gorgeous and you can take a quick 15-minute walk around and behind it. We then camped out at Skokafoss.
On the second day, we spent the entirety of this day on a long day hike called Fimmvörðuháls hike. It's a 9-12 hour hike that ascends ~1,000 meters in between two glaciers and near the Eyjafjallajökull volcano that last erupted in 2010 that disrupted flights in/out of Europe for some time.
On the third day, we left Skogafoss, headed South, stopped by the black beaches of the south coast in Vik, checked out the glacier lagoon of Jökulsárlón, and camped in Hofn for the night.
More pictures to be added soon.

I just received the Roys from @Hendsch! This is the first time I've ever worn or fondled a pair of Roys but, as everyone else had said, the construction is impeccable. I find myself staring down the inseam looking at the SPI more often than not.
With regard to fit, they've made me realize that I've put on some weight in my butt/thighs making them much tighter in the seat than the 3009s I'm used to.. :/ Nevertheless, I will soldier on and plan on wearing them as much as I can on my trip to Iceland next week!
Below I attached some quick fit pics; they're actually lighter in person, borderline Wrangler-esque in comparison to the inky blue of the 3xxx denim.
EDIT: Below are some comparisons of the Roys with some of my more worn jeans. They're from left to right Samurai S710xx (worn for ~2 years [essentially retired]), Sugar Cane Okinawa (worn for ~1.5 years [infrequent rotation]), The Flat Head 3009 (worn for ~8 months [mainstay in rotation]), and the Roys. The bright Summer Sun washed out their true color so they're a bit darker in real life.

@FeloniousMonk That's right! Thanks for remembering. I'll be there from July 8th to the 17th with my wife and father-in-law. We'll be going in and around the Ring Road hiking, camping, etc. Any recommendations for anything out of the beaten path for those that have been?
Also, @Hendsch I'll PM you my address.

@marcusV2, the fit looks good! I have two TSG sweats (black and gray) and they have shrunk, mostly in length, with subsequent hot washes and spins in the dryer.

@itsbenhere They're a 33. Honestly, they're mildly loose in the top block/waist (I could have easily gone down one size). The fit is great everywhere else but the extra fabric in the seat lends to a pronounced moose-knuckle in the crotch unless I'm wearing looser fitting boxers to help fill in the space.

Ever since I saw @itsbenhere's RJB 105BSPs. I've been itching a pair for myself. There's a Grailed listing for a size 30.
How have people sized them? According to the seller, they're TTS at the waist right now. Is there some give and stretching? I know that they should have been a 32 pre soak.

@FeloniousMonk When do you expect the jeans to be back in your hands? I know the're headed to the west coast of North America soon. I'll be spending a week in Iceland early July and wonder if my leg of the tour would allow me to take them along.

@Broark Although this guy's style is more #menswear, he does incorporate classically ivy/preppy styles with milsurp and vintage styled repro clothing into his outfits.
