Any measurements for the ballpark sweat?

@Jeef1 I've worn it all weekend and love it to death. I may pick up the gray or oatmeal one in the future.

@goodrain Like you guys recommended, I went for a medium.

@JDelage They do! However, for me, there is an appeal to the studdy feeling of the sashiko pocket bags.

i'm roughly the same weight/height and have a medium; depending on what kind of jeans you're wearing, it might be a crop top, but these kind of sweats are always short and the large will likely not be *that* much longer and just too big overall..
I usually wear a pair of SC Okinawas and TFH 3009s. I'm assuming they should be okay considering their rises.

I've been scouring this thread for the fit advice on TSG sweats. I'm eyeing an oatmeal one from the Tenryo shop. How did you guys size them?
I'm eyeing the medium at the moment but the shrinkage makes me consider the large; I like my tops on the shorter side but I don't need it to be a crop top. I'm 5'10", weigh ~150-lbs with a slim/average build.

Any updates?

Nice pickup Ben! I was considering them the second they popped up on the warehouse sale but I'd like to see how my 3009s look after some time before another denim purchase.
I'm surprised how relatively "high" is the rise on them! I thought that, at least according to the measurements, it would be ~10".

Thanks for hosting Felonious Monk! I live in the northern Chicago suburbs to be more specific and am interested in both the Roys and Boncuras for the tour.

@ironhorse the '47s look GORGEOUS especially with the marbling. How many washes?

The upshot of these jeans is that both pairs have almost identical fit. The major difference is that the top block of the Roys tapers slightly above the hips to a trimmer waistband.
Ed, this is what I meant by "tapered waist."

Considering the measurements, I can work with both but would prefer Roy's tapered waist.

Depending on the fit of either, I'd be happy to join!

@unders - here is a photo of them from @MileHighEvertonian in the Sugar Cane thread.

I thoroughly enjoy the wacky texture of the sashiko fabric in my SC Okinawas. In addition to that, they're easy to stick my hands in and what have you with no fuss.

What to wear on your wedding? I'm torn between keeping it classic and looking like you would expect from a groom on the one hand and between my love for vintage stuff on the other Hand. Some must have been through this already - what did you do?
What do you mean vintage stuff? For my wedding last June, I kept it classic with a charcoal gray suit. I'll update with a picture.

I believe the 105/106BSP have straighter cuts using the SExFHxRJB denim. However, the shorter rise is killing it for me.

I know it's a mundane and small detail but I've grown to be borderline obsessed with the rolled back pocket edges on my TFH 3009s. What other brands (outside of RJB) have a similar detail? I find myself fondling them every now and then.

I think denim is whatever we want it to be... A strict sense of reproduction when it comes to military or workwear has lost its appeal to me.
I'm stuck in the middle of this existential argument. One one level, I drool at how some brands can fine tune every detail to a pair of jeans from a specific year in the last century. At the same time, I do like innovation and playing around with the template of a 5-pocket jean.
Case in point, my TFH 3009s. They're for all intents and purposes an extremely rough interpretation of pair of 1966 Levis. I know that the 1966 had a paper patch, no hidden back rivets, a generally higher rise, etc. than what TFH offers in their 3009. It's not 100% loyal to (what I believe is) the inspiration but close enough with some tweaks to make it new and different. One can also make the argument with my SC Okinawas.
I have no idea where I'm going with this but mikeech's comment inspired me to comsider why I like some jeans and not others in consideration to repro vs. modern interpretation or whatever.

Don't care much for most of the indigo x indigo jeans either, at least when cuffed. Remind me too much of dress pants or khakis when you cuff them and there's the same color. And other than PBJ's jeans, I've never cared for how the indigo x indigo jeans fade.
I'm in the same boat. However, I do like the electric blue contrasts in PBJ's and 3Sixteen's indigo x indigo offerings as an idea but I'd never wear them myself at least for now.

@joe_poww I forgot how much they bleed indigo! On one level, I appreciate how fast it fades but, at the same time, a slower fading process is more rewarding. I could only imagine what it'll look like when the DWC is all said and done.

So it won't be a 50s fabric in a 60s fit?
