Yeah it’s the same denim. I think it’ll look really nice in jacket form. The denim ages on the faster side with good contrast. I washed my jeans a lot and it still shows a lot of contrast.

I’ve been wearing these D111 LHT jeans most days the last 3-4 months. It’s got a lot of vertical lines forming and fades are coming pretty quickly.

oh yeah I forgot that Birkenstock was owned by them. sucks. I'm probably close to needing to get a new pair after years of wearing my last pair. I'll have to look at alternatives.

nope. I've contributed to probably 5-6 kickstarters over the years esp right when kickstarter was really getting going....all of them got funded many times over the initial goal and I think only 2 of them were fulfilled.... one was for an album that actually got made and the other was a board game that got very delayed but at least delivered....the unfulfilled ones were a some kind of physical product where 2 years after funding, the founder sent an email out that it was never going to be made and that we could file a dispute with our CC company, another was a cafe that actually opened up and is still open but many people never got their coffee orders nor do they ever respond to questions about it....I also contributed to some musical projects where nothing came of it and the musicians just went on making other music. After the last ones where the updates stopped, I stopped contributing to any unless they were for someone I knew.

Yeah for the most part. I first sew the edges of the hole to clean it up without the patch and then i do another pass to sew the patch on around the hole. Then i just finish it up with a design to sew down the rest of it. I’m working on cleaning up the backside but generally this is enough to have the repair stay on with repeated wear and wash

It's interesting how the love/hate for leg twists comes in and out with style/fit trends. When slim tapered jeans were very popular, I remember having to have this conversation constantly about leg twists and some people having an internal crisis when they discovered their jeans twisted after some wear and wash. in recent times, it's been a lot less...

My kid keeps destroying pants. I’ll have to sew in double knees at some point. Some 80s Levi’s with some serious leg twist, nippers that prob shouldn’t be worn much anymore, wranglers and some modern carhartt that didn’t hold up nearly as well as the other pants. I used some flat head and roy denim scraps as well as some canvas and flannel fabric swatches from Seuvas.

I don’t wear these 1947 jeans as much anymore but they’re looking great. I’ve the last round of repairs on the fabric and stitching fixes, i leave them as only occasional wear so they don’t get too messed up.

Looks like someone needs more time in the chamber of dark tears.

it's that high priced Rick Owens type of humor.

any employee who speaks poorly of Rick Owens publicly or privately is made to sit on a metal uncomfortable chair in a dark chamber listening to music that alternates between romantic era classical music and abrasive industrial music until they come out looking like a ninja alien. we do a similar thing if someone speaks ill of Toyo except they're made to sit in an almost period correct 1950s bedroom complete with asbestos in the drywall and made to listen to rockabilly until they come out wearing a full denim tux. we take things very seriously.

It took me a little bit to understand the humor in a lot of Rick Owens' stuff but it's one of the more fun brands where a lot of the designs are intentionally humorous in all sorts of ways. I mean how you can create this sweatshirt and not think it's funny? Coming from my experience where I haven't really change the way I dress in the last 15 years and I still tend to lean more towards the simple very "normal" looking clothes for the most part, it's been really a eye opening experience to learn more about brands outside of the ones I knew well. I've been fortunate enough now to have spent the last 5-6 years going to showrooms for all the self edge brands and it's really interesting to spend days looking and discussing SDA, flat head, samurai, iron heart, etc and then (often times on the same days) go into showrooms with brands like Rick Owens, devoa, rigards, the viridi-anne, motiv, etc. While obviously atheistically they seem like that they have nothing in common, they actually all share very similar viewpoints in how much they pay attention to fabrics, treatment or lack of treatment of the materials, and the really intricate understanding of how something should be constructed. I think of it like two sides of the same coin where you have one side with brands that are more conservative and/or rigid when to comes to deviating from the source material and the love and passion for what they do comes from staying close to the originals and just making their best version of that and then flip over to the other side where you have a group of brands that understand the source material and history but find interest and joy in deviating and pushing designs in different ways. Like with all genres of clothing brands/styles, there are a lot of brands that I think are no good and are actually shit but I think at least for me, I've got this reinvigorated love for this stuff and it's helped me feel less serious and defensive when I see styles that deviate from the norm. While I still love seeing another version of a Type I and straight leg jean in a deep indigo denim, it's a nice balance to then also experience brands that make something a little more out there but still made as well as the stuff I'm used to wearing. Some would say this is the Rick Owens of burgers. (it looks delicious)

oh shit. that's really scary. glad you came out mostly ok. fucking up the jacket on day 2 of wear is rough. with a hole like that, it could look cool with a more ornate sashiko repair? an aesthetically pleasing souvenir of surviving.

hems take way shorter than repairs! hems generally are 3-5 days but sometimes you get lucky if you drop off right when the tailor is there working on hems so the turn around is quick. repair times will vary...generally around 3-5 weeks but can creep up if we get bombarded with repairs.

whoa, I've never seen this fabric from FH. very cool. you're right...the wear on the thighs looks like there was a decent amount of wear but everything else looks like it was pretty unworn.
