  1. "Worn denim while raw" I remember folks buying raw denim, wearing them to set very crisp combs, washing them after 3 or 4 months and the combs would be half way up the back of the thighs.. "aw! bollocks" This^ was the trend i was alluding to.. did anyone do this and regret it? I'm not much of a washer at the best of times.. i've had jeans which i've never washed but i've always got the shrinkage out first, I've never worn them raw. I had a pair of SC47s which i didn't wash for nearly a decade but they did have a few agitated soaks in the bath tub.. i didn't want them to show machine marks.. marbling, fade lines and such.. The caveat here is, if my jeans were stinky, i would wash them for sure but i don't tend to produce body odor.. (like prince andrew) i don't even need to use a deodorant I just spray a bit of tree huger citrus essence.. i can wear socks for days, even my shoes which i wear all day at work have zero smell.. The fancy detergent trend for me was the Sugarcane sachets which are quite good but very expensive (i was given a box from Hirofumi at Vari) the other washing trend for me was Dr Bronners pure soap.. but my jeans always felt a bit greasy to the touch as though the soap hadn't been fully rinsed out in the machine, i would often run them through a second rinse before bagging it off and going back to Fairy Non Bio...
  2. Yes.. this was the instructions i printed out from sufu back in 17/06/2008 on how to fill out the old Rakuten order form before they started to accept PP and it was still written in Japanese

  7. Not sure.. there was a dedicated thread where you could buy it.. it was 2 guys who produced it, they showed short excerpts, it was the first time i'd seen the mysterious figure of ring x ring amongst others in the denim game being interviewed.. (like Banksy) i was surprised how deep his voice was..
  8. @mlwdp .. worn denim while raw? what was going on there @julian-wolf .. the 'sleeping in jeans' thing was to stretch them out..ie- get a couple of buttons fastened, maybe on day 2 fasten button 3 and don't take them off till you can get the top button fastened If i remember rightly the coffee wash thing was around the time certain threads were obsessed with natural dying techniques, persimmon, mud, grass and such. @smoothsailor they were MiJ Hedi Slimane era What was that early denim documentary called? not the one Paul T was annoyed about.. it was pre-kickstarter.. you had to buy it on DVD, they interviewed ring x ring in silhouette, to protect his identity like a crime victim.. Did anyone here buy it? i almost did but UK shipping costs ruled it out.
  9. For the sake of clarity ‘Resolute wash / fit having not previously’ ..is increased wash routine with a goldilocks hem length .. leaning towards a mall jean look, having previously only opted for contrast

  12. If you'd been wandering around a desert of distressed bootcuts and found the oasis of sufu in 2010 there is no doubt that you were the coolest kid in the Georgia burbs .. don't be ashamed of that superiority complex! I was never down with the sufu fits back then but this place was still without a doubt the pinnacle of the denim world..
  13. My initial thoughts when i clicked on that^^ link was that was beatle I suppose.. that's the thing with forums.. it only takes a handfull of prolific posters to shift the entire look of the herd. I'm not sure i'd even describe that^ look as 'general hipster' i'd describe it as 'sufu 2010'.. it was a very particular aesthetic.. i never saw anyone in the wild dressing the sufu way back then.. we had plenty of hipsters who wore skinny-ass jeans but it was a world away from the 2010 sufu uniform. The aesthetic here has obviously changed over the years.. it's down to the contributors rather than fashion influence.. all it takes is a few of the regulars to start wearing something different and within 12mths we will all be wearing the same shit.. in the world of the normies, we're individuals but in the microcasm of sufu.. wees just sheep In 2012 when we were all on shore leave the Mister Freedom thread got bumped by the minute.. it hasn't been bumped in over a year.. all it would take is a couple of enthusiastic posters and the CPO shirts will be back up to a thousand quid!
  14. I'm down to 2x pairs at the mo.. a pair of Waffle 2 and a pair of Elite's.. the 1978 vintage repros from 7 or 8yrs ago with the slightly washed out suede and the purposely yellowing midsole and tongue .. I think i'll bust them out of storage for my summer shoe.
  15. No.. i love vintage Nike runners.. 70s / 80s era anything with a waffle sole.. Pegasus, Tailwind, Daybreak, Internationalist, Oceania, LD .. ect
  16. Dead pair of Stars & Bars after a year or so in the workshop
  17. I watched that Wim Wenders film 'Perfect Days' earlier.. i really enjoyed it, it's an ode to unpretentious Japanese minimalism.. a story of Hirayama, who cleans toilets and finds pleasure in the simple beauties of life.. listening to old cassette tapes, riding his bike, books and photographing trees. It's lovely.. i like those slice of life films where nothing actually happens. In stark contrast.. i'm currently at Unit with the boy I've ordered fried chicken & canadian bacon.. served on a freshly baked waffle with maple syrup.. ..outside, is some Bladerunner-esque, lit brutalism
  18. If you look closely .. the hammer has child proof caps over the business end..
  19. You sure? (thanks aho) Depending on body shape.. I think opening the bottom button just makes them look more flattering / fit the body better.. ie- if you're a very slim build and the jacket is wide and boxy, fastening the bottom button has no effect on how the fabric drapes .. but if the jacket is a little more fitted or you're layering up.. the hem measurement is a lot smaller than the chest measurement so if your body shape doesn't follow the same taper from pit to hem, then fastening the bottom button pulls the waistband in causing the jacket to open up elsewhere, usually between the bottom two buttons.. (made worse by sitting) the pleats are not always enough to allow for this. Often looks worse with with the spacing of a 4x button jacket..
  20. If i'm at work.. i always fasten my top buton because workwear isn't always about posing / fashion / style.. you have to take practicality and function into account aswell.. if i'm working on my planer, lathe or milling machine, the last thing i want in irritating wood shaving going down the neck hole of my sweatshirt.. meaning i have to strip layers off to get them out.. not favourable when it's 0° .. therefore i fasten the top button. If you look back at period workwear photos.. you'll see the same approach depending on trade.
