  1. Incredible handy-work there JW.. where did the new denim come from? is it cut from a roll or another pair of jeans. They remind me of the old patchwork Levi's of the late 60s early 70s.. just need a few Robert Crumb patches.
  2. Its good kit.. i bought a SC down vest back in 2009 before i realised the Calafornia range was MiC.. sent it back and replaced it with a CDW vest.. i was nice, good fit and great quality, i'm not sure what happened to it? i think i lost it on a camping trip... i quite like their range of colours, i like the dark red, i like the tan, i like the olive, my down vest had a blue outer and a tan inner.
  3. Oi Polloi used to stock them.. also plenty of variations on the theme but this was 10.. maybe 15yrs ago so my memory is pretty hazy but i think their blog is still supported.. it's as good'a place to start as any (try and find their outerwear stock lists) .. the 60/40 design has been very popular around the UK/Eu for decades.. here i'll get you started https://www.oipolloi.com/blogs/the-blog/18181523-sierra-designs-from-the-archive/ https://www.oipolloi.com/blogs/the-blog/18181507-cool-in-the-movies-2/ https://www.oipolloi.com/blogs/the-blog/18182499-carleton-watkins/
  4. Actually, they were one of only a couple of pairs which i saved from this fate.. i put probably 18mths of wear into them and shelved them before they started to disintegrate. I pulled them on last month for the first time in a decade.. they're a great pair of jeans! i'm glad i didn't completely destroy them but then again i've got no idea why i'm saving them? they're too delicate to wear with any kind of frequency.
  5. During lockdown we used to do the shopping for our 103yr old neighbour.. he used to make his own marmalade out of this stuff called Ma Made.. we’d never heard of it.. it was a large tin can of sliced Seville oranges.. he would spoon some out into a pan.. pour on sugar and water.. cook it down and pour it into jars... he ate it every morning on toast.
  6. My missus eats a lot of marmalade and she buys Frank Coopers Oxford Original
  7. I’ll keep my social commentary much less topical in future 😁
  8. There isn’t a typical US or JP way of measuring clothing, different stores measure garments in different ways.. for instance BiG have always measured differently to SE.. Most stores around the world just copy/paste the sizes recommended by the brands but if any store measures a specific way, they usually provide a ‘how we measure tab’ showing the garment being measured.
  9. God.. i hope he's intending to fabricate a perfect pair of jeans with hinged knees out of mild steel plate.. just as a final f*ck you to @shredwin_206 Wear these out m*ther fkr!
  10. Dipping into some Stones Throw this morning.. ..rap music has come a long way
  11. Don't pay over RRP for it.. it's not that special, you'd be disappointed.. See what you mean, £32 sold out at Waterstones or £457 on Amazon You can have mine for half that 🤣
  12. A little digging.. they were used by German tennis star.. Wilhelm Bungert This pair was made in Austria in 1964
  13. They pre-date both (1960 ish) .. in fact the 'tennis' was the inspiration behind the superstars... it's pretty much the same shoe give or take, just slightly more minimalist.. mine are from an adidas era's pack or repros.
  14. Tennis shoe update after 2yrs ..only worn on the tennis court
  15. I listened to a podcast about the life of John Aspinall last week.. which lead me to Adam Curtis's 4 films on the Mayfair Set.. equally fascinating as it was tragic.. how a small group of the uber-rich caused the collapse of british industry. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/p073k9s0/the-mayfair-set https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=the+mayfair+set Only bit of tinsel-escapism i've had...
  16. Yep.. that's a classic.. in a similar ilk, Mark Cohens Grim Street I bought it from Magma Books in Manchester around 20yrs ago Photos of ex mining town Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania where he grew up in the 60s and 70s
  17. Her daughter was being interviewed last week on CH4 news about it.. i had a browse through her mothers photographs she has for sale in her online gallery.. check it out, it's a really good interview.
