  1. Send it down here when you've done with it @MJF9 👍
  2. My missus got this msg from one of the lads at 1am To be fair.. pasta doesn’t look bad, they’ve got a can of Poretti too.. goodness knows where that came from?.. This was before the heavily expletive laden txt messages when she got up and saw the kitchen
  3. When i got up for work this morning there was a hand written note from my kid on the kitchen side "Hi Dad, We're making pasta.. mum knows" At some point in the night, my kid and whichever friends were staying over decided to make some pasta, the kitchen was an absolute bombsite, sink pilled high with pots and pans, some of the ingredients they've used (mince and such) we didn't have so they must have been to the shop at 12.30am.. there was half an onion on top of a kilner jar of flour.. chopped face down, olives on the floor, remnants of roughly chopped garlic on the chopping board and a tin of kidney beans they'd opened and not used? .. they'd used 4 pans to make a sauce ... it was total chaos, i just left it and went to work..
  4. It's a 'poor-mans' mahogany.. inasmuch as, there was an embargo put on mahogany in (i think) 2001 to stop illegal logging in SA.. after this time the timber merchants were looking for a replacement with similar characteristics / availability, eventually settling on poplar, i do have shit-loads of 20+ yr old mahogany in stock but i can't provide it as a material without documentation to prove it came from plantation sources.. I like poplar too.. it's a little less stable than mahogany and a little more prone to movement but it doesn't turn your hands purple when you're working with it... When we went to Brazil.. years ago, all the cheap hotel rooms are entirely furnished with mahogany, solid mahogany bed, wardrobes, doors, even the walls were clad with is, it was just the cheapest most abundant material
  5. Thanks.. the green is poplar / tulipwood, when i buy it, in rough sawn planks it's mainly a sandy colour with veins of green and to a lesser extent purple running through so i cut those 'character' bits out and save them for something special.. the other woods are mahogany, american white oak and ash, there is a construction post somewhere on the forum? .. but i can't find it
  6. Yes, i made this wooden bowl.. incorperating Hollows logo so he could put all his nick-nacks in there at the event..
  7. Here's another blast from the past @tg76 2015 Denim Bruin Even i got a mention The bandana was a gift from Mr R .. same design as the blanket Masterson's Circle A. & Roy's 14/25 ..and a random postcard which Mr R sent me from his holiday in Honolulu 😍 I think Standard & Strange have the rights to hold future Denim Bruin events..
  8. Good luck! Just avoid the Dremel, heat will soften acetal which is why you can manipulate glasses in a heat box, but any kind of fast rotating friction (even with a soft polishing pad) will generate a lot of heat and risk melting them. Slowing the Dremel down just makes it ridiculously hard to control.
  9. A year off work!? How will the kids cope without you? I got one of those LVC bandanas too.. cream and red with a bowling ball hitting a set of pins Anyone remember that English guy from DB.. he contributed a lot to the Circle A thread, from Tyne & Wear, worked for a brewery, rode a scooter, he was a really nice guy, migrated over here then disappeared soon after.
  10. Circle A was a great thread over on DB.. was that pair only available through Denimbro / contest pair? i can't quite remember.. Not really my cup of tea with the square back pockets but it was still a great thread with some great fades.
  11. I do this quite a lot.. not usually with acetate but with most other resins.. polyurethane, polycarb, acrylic ..ect Forget the Dremel, one false move and it's fked. If i was you i'd unscrew the arms and mask off the lenses front and back, then use 100grit sandpaper to create the desired shape, if you want it to be more of a chamfer than a rad, wrap the piece of sandpaper around a small block of wood.. bit of 1/4 ply or summat (1.5" long) .. get the shape right, then move to 320g sandpaper to remove the sanding marks, then 1000g wet n'dry, use it dry.. then 3000g wet n'dry keep dipping them in a bowl of warm soapy water the soap acts like a lubricant.. finally 6000g grit.. you can polish them back up with Brasso or T-Cut and for a super-polish, i use whitening toothpaste, keep them wet while doing so.. if you want a finished shine some resin car wax/polish works a treat. I wouldn't recommend any polishing machinery. If you find the acetate quite soft, use 240g instead of 100 and 600g instead of 320, you'll only know this by trying it.
  12. Aaah!.. where is the sample from that comes in at 1.19^.. sounds a bit like Mr Oizo Flat Eric but not quite.. fk, gunna drive me nuts now.. thanks bartles, happy new year!
  13. I got a little care package from @CSL .. No, not nylons, corned beef and chocolate but rather a bundle of CDs from Discogs .. Oh and some bike goodies from SimWorks

  15. More denim in the cuff than the inside leg
  16. I could tell it was sound advice by the lack of alamist slogans pasted here and there
  17. Candid xmas day at mum's house .. Butter Goods McCoy's tee Junky belt TV Choice SC47s .. +arcs obvs M&S socks
  18. I don't think those type of tv programms are real maynard.. folks who sign up get a free holiday, folks who's houses are showcased get paid. Erm.. we need more time to decide before we make such a big decission...ect Tune in next week when Gino De' Campo looks at 3 properties in Italy
  19. I wasn’t looking for ‘how to make coffee’ per se.. I was looking for suitable coffee making apparatus bearing in mind that it would only be used once or twice/wk at home.. I battled through the excitable, bearded, tattooed, under shaved, selvedge apron’d click baiters.. to a realm of pseudoscience minimalism with digital weighing scales and atomic clock timers.. ”fk, it’s gone 1second over, shits ruined” I bailed at this point.. what a horrible world it is.. imagine the sub-reddits ..anyway, I thought pourover would be best for my situation, low cost and more importantly, low clean up time.. I can drip it into a glass flask, fill my cup, fill my canteen and head off for a bike ride..
  20. Woohoo! fixed it.. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  21. Yes, it's a double walled stainless flask which holds 400ml of coffee.. i made the coffee at 10am and it was still hot ...ish at 3pm when i finished my ride. As i've mentioned before.. when i was in my late teens - early 20s, i started to suffer from really bad insomnia, to the point where.. if i woke up at 1.30am after 2hrs sleep, i would lay awake till 6am and be exhausted the next day.. so i started going to work when i woke up, even if this was 1am.. While trying to sort this shit out in my early 30s, i stopped drinking coffee for pleasure and just started using instant coffee as wake-up juice.. i ride to work at 6am, make a horrible coffee with 3 of 4 heaped teaspoons of instant in a pint mug.. browse the webz for an hour while i'm drinking it, make another and start some work.. after this second cup, i'll only drink water for the rest of the day.. which means i drink loads of water through the summer but not nearly enough through the winter because it makes me feel cold .. My insomnia has been under control for a good 15yrs now apart from the occasional flare up in times of stress but i still don't drink caffeine after 8am.. The house we stayed in Sicily had a Bialetti pot so i was using that which made my shitty instant taste a whole lot worse when we got back.. i tried to up my coffee game back then but my sense of repulsion towards the online coffee influencers was overwhelming (what a set of fucking wankers coffee peeps are) i couldn't bear it so went back to instant.. ..anywho, family bought me a K6 Kingrinder for xmas along with that^ Velo Canteen and some swanky coffee from https://foundrycoffeeroasters.com/collections/coffee-beans .. i've had a low value parcel of bike bits waiting to be shipped from Zen for some time.. so i'v tagged a Kalita copper dripper onto it.. (they retail for £80 over here, it was £22 from Rakuten) with 200x Kalita filters for £7.19 They're still in Osaka but i'v been making coffee with an old french press this week.. i can't imagine i'll go back to instant after christmas so when the pourover biz arrives, i'll probably take the french press to work.. Next step will be drinking coffee again after 8am.. as any insomnia sufferer will know, it's not the caffeine keeping you awake, it's your brain telling you that you can't sleep because you've stepped out of the parameters you set for yourself..
