It was -10C when I got in the car this morning.. I had to take the car to work because it was the 0’Soul’s annual family trip to the dentist. I had the forethought to do two things.. I cycled to the car on the way home from work yesterday to scrape the snow off so I didn’t have to do it at 6am .. and at 6am, I took Wham’s Greatest Hits from the CD rack. .. so although I have ice inside the windows because the heater doesn’t work.. I was banging out Wham while singing.. “Let Me Take You To A Place Where Motherships A Smiling Face.. Rubbing Shoulders With The Staaaars...” All In the interest of balance of course.

Nope... at 15 he's long outgrown kids clothes, he's my height..5' 11" and wears a size S in hoodies, tees, jackets and such but if these are slightly too big, it matters not.. but i bet his waist is something like 27" (maybe less) because he's yet to fill out.. we went shopping for jeans just because it's impossible to buy jeans online when you're in this sizing no mans land.. anyway, i said to him, if you see owt else you like, make a note of it.. we'll go back and pick it up before we go home.. we didn't find any jeans and the only other clobber he found was a hoodie from KirshKicks but it was £285 for an unremarkable hoodie with some hype shit printed on the front.. he doesn't seem to have any concept of cost so i said you could buy 2x Stussy hoodies for that with cash to spare so he decided against it and we left with nothing.. enjoyed the day mooching around Manchester though -

It's because there is nothing as lame as old people.. i was in End** last month with my 15yr old looking for jeans, i pulled a pair of Edwin's from the sale rail and he said "hell,no.. they look like something you would wear" When i was his age, i never saw any young folks with tattoos, just the occasional darts player in the pub with a patriotic forearm tatt.. polyester shirt, Farah sta-press and slip on shoes.. not exactly the steeze i wanted to emulate.. if you check out any old (c1988-1992) rave footage, not one single person has a visible tattoo.. from my memory, it was when Blood Sugar Sex Magic came out that the Chilli Peppers culturally questionable tatts became de rigueur that i started to see young'uns getting tattooed again with anything other than a regrettable Yosemite Sam. This kind of biz usually goes in cycles.. we don't want to do what our parents did but that doesn't seem to be the case with tatts.. my 20yr old cat sitter has hearts on one earlobe and stars on the other.. there is an attractive young woman working as bar staff in The Broadfield pub and her tattoos are so sketchy it's like i've drawn them with my left hand.. 4 or 5 small (5cm) outline tattoos but terribly drawn.. she's dressed well and wears clothing to accentuate them so she's obviously proud of the way she/they look and as a young woman she pulls it off.. but what i don't understand is she obviously wanted them to look badly drawn because it looks like the same person did them all... are young folk reacting against artists now? In other news **I pre-booked a parking space in Manchester's Northern Quarter to take my kid clothes shopping.. got back to the car and i had a parking ticket.. due to my dyslexia, i got a couple of the letters jumbled up.. i appealed the ticket explaining that the VRN looked exactly the same to me so i had paid for the parking space (I attached proof of purchase) .. they accepted my appeal then said "but don't do it again because next time you might not be so lucky" .. wtf! i can't help it? wankers! -

I remember a time when folks were having amputations at the tattoo parlour.. "grandad, did you lose that fingr in the war" no i just had it amputated because i thought it would make me look cool Or branding, tongue splitting, bead insertions or thick ball closure ring inserting under the skin.. Has all this shit been made illegal or have we just come to our senses..? -

Morning Paul, Can you see a future where customers visit a tattoo parlour.. Select a digital image, put their arm in a machine, image is scanned onto their arm.. click ‘yes’ and it’s tattoo’d.. a’la 3D printing method.. with no need for tattoo artists? -

My city used to be really vibrant with an eclectic mix of people, there were places in the city catering for the not so well off (Castle Market) and there were retailers catering for the very well healed (and everyone in between) ... all of which were very busy with folks spending what disposable income they had. Then we had a perfect storm.. an out of town shopping center opened in 1990 (Meadowhall) which offered free parking and a roof over one's head.. this coincided with massive unemployment as companies outsourced almost all industry to China.. 1000s of people were put out of work while the company owners / shareholders got rich by cutting labour costs, everything that used to say Made in Sheffield now says Made in China.. but hey! at least net zero is within reach The city had to re-invent itself as a university / service city, with the big bucks coming from International students, the dependents of those students are the only ones driving investment in the city, they're creating businesses but businesses which mainly service the population of wealthy Chinese students.. a tragic irony that the descendents of your typical unemployed working class Sheffielder are often the previously mentioned homeless peeps.. -

We have a neighbourhoods thread in need of a bump.. take a few photos, do a li'll write up.. I live in a bit of a S10/S11 bubble, the shops and bars around here are doing really well, folks have cash to spend, whereas our city center is some kind of boarded up dystopian nightmare.. littered with homeless peeps, beggers, crackheads, god-grifters and Deliveroo riders .. there was a fked up sex worker having a shit on the doorstep opposite my work this morning.. she wiped her arse on a towel and left it on the floor along with her knee length puffa jacket.. she'll regret that tonight, it's currently 1C and snowing heavily. -

Nice looking premises too -
You're forgiven You've been here long enough to know how we roll Jared.. it only takes one or two to start posting about something and we all bandwagon it.. the FWs thread for instance, lay semi-dormant for years till Duke came along, now we all love FWs .. if someone starts singing the praises of cowboy-crocs for example we'll all start wearing those and you'll be left reminiscing about the long lost loafer days

I rode up to the old Ski Village yesterday from Kelham Island It was built on the land which used to be Parkwood Springs where folks would live next door to the heavy industry where they worked .. you'd pop out your front door and into the foundry next door.. "see'ya toinght love" kids would play on the slag heaps, you'd be lucky to live to 40.. ..the land was flattened in a slum clearance and folks were relocated to places like Park Hill or Kelvin Flats, it's still toxic af and constantly monitored. When i was a school kid, i did a 24hr ski- (well snowboard) -athon at the Ski Village for Comic Relief.. i say 'did' we just got stoned and fked around for charity. It was the largest artificial ski resort in Europe at that time.. our freestyle Olympians trained here.. when the business hit hard times, it was torched.. by 2016 it had suffered a further 50+ arson attacks.. you'd often see the hillside in flames. In the early 2000s it was just wasteland.. i used to go to allnighters here, namely NY Sushi or Phonetics, watching the sun rise over the city while the ground shook with base was a sight to behold Last time i was here in 2015 it looked like this.. Then a traveling community moved in for a few years (unofficial trailer park) till the council evicted them.. the gates are missing now, i think they got weighed in for scrap... just massive boulders keeping vehicles out ..and now, it's been given back to nature.. a 2km urban MTB trail has been dug around the perimeter.. zero help from council funding, just goodwill of the peeps.. local boy Steve Pete shows us how it sould be ridden ..and us mere mortals ..looking down the last remaining bit of dry ski slope, keeping it on theme.. sleeve of a Full Count sweatshirt ..iphone 4 pano over the city ..

It is all very tongue in cheek but then.. it is the general nonsense thread I'm glad nobody gets annoyed .. I was going to say i'm glad we're all adult enough to not get annoyed but that's probably not the right choice of words. Have a good weekend everyone! -
Glad you're well I'm back after a hiatus over the summer.. i'll probably disappear again when the sunshine comes back Are you still darn sarf?

Sorry for the late reply.. missed this Absolutely, but you've also got to appreciate that people can make a style look bad.. ie- a cheap suit can look amazing on a sexy M&S model and an expensive suit can look terrible on a silicone valley tech-bro, buying an expensive item, isn't enough to make it look good.. i'd see this all the time in the MF thread over on DB, folks would spend a kings ransom on an ill fitting CPO shirt.. then turn the cuffs back so they'd have these massive mermaid cuffs flapping in the wind like Paul Hollywood from The Great British Bake Off.. whereas other forum peeps with a bit more style made them look dope! JJs grandma (previous pg) looks like a middle aged Primark shopper (i'd guess at Susan or Deborah) Friday night, Dove & Rainbow, couple of pints of Carling and blackcurrant, bit of Whitesnake on the jukebox.. flirt with the kebab vendor.. i'm not sure this is the image he was trying to project when he was spending £1000s on his RO outfit.. Tragic really.. yet someone with a bit of style could make it look good... Same story with the oiversized RO boots and tucked jeans which you previously mentioned. -

I used to have a collection of vintage Air Jordans.. when i posted them here, maynard didn't like any of them! but i wasn't going to spend days trying to convince him otherwise or justify my reasons for liking them.. i just accepted it *deep inside tho, im still very angry about it -

I think you've forgot to take the coat hanger out @youngofthesoonest .. but i get it It's a good looking outfit for someone working in the fashion industry, no good in my leaky workshop (lifestyle is the driving force behind everything i wear) what i get less is is the grey RO flannel which could work for me but it's $1335 and looks no different to a vintage Woolrich flannel i bought for £18, i think, if you're going to splurge, you might as well buy a statement piece if you can pull it off.. unlike the dude on the previous page.. his outfit just screams intervention order I also appreciate that SE is a retailer, your success depends on the sale of your goods, we wouldn't expect any SE staff to be entirely objective.. like the car salesperson who uses words like fun or quirky when what they really mean is unattractive.. it's lucky that you like RO clothing because you have to believe in it to sell it.. something i could never do... I'd get sacked from SE in no time
