  1. *Toyo Enterprises was previously called Kosho & Co, a fabric import / export company. During WW2 they were selling souvenirs to American soldiers, kimonos and such via a market stall.. Tailor Toyo was established to make souvenir jackets with a soldiers name embroidered, which they could take back home. In 1965 Toyo Enterprises was established to supply western sized clothing to the US military bases across Japan.. they would make denim jeans upon request. *source Double 0 on DB Toyo became a domestic clothing manufacturer in 1975 after the end of the Vietnam war when all the troops fked off back home.. I'm not sure if they were making repros during this time, i expect not, based on the fact that i haven't found any.. Japan's love of Americana followed.. by the 1980s demand outstripped supply of the Levis left behind by American troops which laid the foundations for enterprising Japanese pickers to visit the US with empty suitcases, demand still outstripped supply so by the mid-80s Sugarcane was producing repros for the domestic market but i would love to know what repro jeans if any were produced in this 75 - 85 (pre MP) era.. In 1978, Hitoshi Tsujimoto was one of these^ pickers.. he took a road trip around the US collecting vintage jeans and sweatshirts which he sold around vintage markets under the name 'Nylon' (which would later become McCoys) opening his first bricks n' mortar vintage store in the mid 80s.. this all helped lay the foundations for the golden era denimboom of the early 90s.. so when we consider the birth of the vintage repro, we need to be looking at the early-mid 80s
  2. Laurel button, no rivets.. looks like a war model
  3. My wardrobe is probably 70% repro, 20% vintage and 10% new but out of that 70%.. i would say 90% of which would now be considered vintage in it's own right. I'm not saying repros peaked in the 90s but i am a bit disalusioned with how relentless the repro game has become, i'd like the SC Collectables but i'm fooling myself if i think this will be it, we all know something else will be just around the corner.. it's just a never ending persuit
  4. Vintage / deadstock Nike mesh back.. .. the fat belly swoosh dates from 1978-85, it's printed on a Made in Korea CardinaL.. 'Cardinal Cap & Jacket Co' was established in 1975.. it's clearly got age due to the yellowing of the foam but like we see from a lot of 70s era Nike.. although the company was producing clothing and footwear lines in USA, Japan, Italy, Taiwan, Korea ect.. when it came to event promo, pulling together a couple of 100 caps or tees was done through a third party. Nike tees given away at 10 or 15k road / trail races were printed on Hanes Fifty-Fifty or Russell rather than a Nike label.. I found the Cardinal phone number on a job vacancy for an experienced sewing machine mechanic in an archived page of the Virginia Chronicle so everything tracks.. ..but unlike this one on Grailed, i paid less than £40..
  5. Vintage 1978 - 83 Nike Single Stitch Baseball Shirt I know we all like to wax lyrical about MiJ loopwheeled tees, they are nice, i wear them myself but old single stitch tees are something else.. the material is thin and stretchy giving it a unique drape and softness which you just don't get with heavier gsm..
  6. Deadstock 1978-85 Nike Meshback Vintage 1978 - 83 Nike Single Stitch Baseball Shirt CSF-46s Nike Elite Repro
  7. Morning Charlie.. Takahashi-san, (the guy who owns Junky Style) owns a deadstock pair, if you check the blog http://style.junky.co.jp/ There is some info and photos, i posted about them on Pg1 of the M-Series thread, alas, the links were lost in deletiongate but if you pick through the blog posts using the search, i'm sure you can dig it up, the blog is pretty well archived.
  8. Don’t forget Mother’s Day lads.. I’ve just splashed out at Tesco.. one card for my own mum, one for my kids mum because he’ll probably forget and one for the cats mum because he’ll forget too... 🐈‍⬛
  9. Wow.. seems like an expensive way of working, make a very niche product then alienate 95% of your market. No wonder they went bankrupt first time around
  10. Looks fabulous! Am I reading that right.. only available in a XXXL T back? .. what, why?
  11. Crap! It might be just me then.. I've always resisted wearing a balaclava with deely-bobbers for the same reason but if you guys are saying it's ok?
  12. Sweatshirt cuffs we’re getting a bit threadbare.. ..much better
  13. Cap and glasses, throws off the balance of an outfit, makes it too top heavy.. If i was in Doc's position, i would have to wear boots, gators and crampons to balance it out or maybe even ski's ..
  14. Both.. it's too much going on for one head. Like triple denim, it's just too much!
  15. Hat or glasses but not both! Makes me feel like a character from 'Guess Who' .. just too much head adornment Is your character wearing a hat and glasses? .. "Yes" is it Double 0? Problem is.. i sometimes need both, i wear reading glasses for studying drawings / precision at work but through the winter, i wear a watch cap or wool beanie to keep me warm.. the hat makes the arms of the glasses rub my head behind my ears.. also if anyone calls in, i take the hat off to avoid the Guess Who vibe.. also tennis, i could do with wearing a ball cap and sunglasses to avoid glare from the sun and sweat running into my eyes.. but again, it either has to be one or t'other.. never both Can anyone pull this shit off or is cranial frippery something to be avoided?
  16. The weight of the patch is so incredible, it's pulling the back of her jeans down
  17. IKR.. i despair for the deminworld.. i love this place, it's one of the last few genuine communities on the interwebz but pop your head out from under the sufu rock and the denim world is just fucking hideous.. from comical Instagram fakery to superficial denim blogs to click-baity youtube vids to .. well i wouldn't even know how to describe Reddit .. it makes me ashamed to be part of it. There is no wonder that^ shit sells
  18. During lockdown 2020.. i was still popping into work during the day while my wife and kid were doing homeschool.. he would have been 11yrs old at the time, one cold January evening, i took him on a night hike in the Peaks.. it was Friday night so no school the next day.. he'd done the Joe Wicks workout but still had lots of energy to burn off.. We left the car in the carpark at the end of the Burbage valley and took a route i've done 100s of times in the past.. it was around 7pm but pitch black and icy.. on the home stretch we were climbing up some rocks (a section he loves) he was up front carrying our massive search and rescue light .. i was behind him just in case he slipped with a poxy little torch.. when we got to the top, he shouted "Wooo! Parkour" and started jumping from rock to rock while i climbed up the last section.. when i got to the top, i could see his torchlight was way off in the distance so i shouted "stay where you are" and i made my way to him cutting through the heather loosing the path in the darkness and completely lost our bearings.. i could see a road in the distance so i thought.. it'd be safer / easier to figure out where we were from the road than waist deep in heather .. this was a period when i didn't have a phone and he'd left his phone in the car.. Whoops! .. familiarity breeds contempt thought i It was so dark that even from the road i had no clue whether we should turn left or right.. one way is the road to Sheffield.. the other is the road to Manchester, i was 80% sure we should turn right but i spotted a light from a remote farmhouse in the distance and said (mainly to try and teach him a lesson) if you ever find yourself in this situation never wander off into the Peak District.. especially when it's -10°.. anywho.. we got to this farmhouse.. this was the era of peak covid paranoia.. and knocked on the door, the farmer was quite surprised to see a 40 something year old man and an 11yr old boy at 10.30pm.. he drew us a map to get back to the Burbage carpark.. (and gave me a bit of a lecture about being more responsible in future ) .. surprisingly it was the complete opposite way to where i thought we should be going (lesson learned or so i thought) .. and off we went .. any other time, i'm sure he would have just given us a lift.. we were following his map but nothing seemed familiar.. i saw no other cars on the road.. then all of a sudden the carpark came into view and it was the carpark at the opposite end of the Burbage Valley.. Oh Fuck!!! ..but all was not lost there was a car in the carpark and it was all lit up with what looked like studio lighting rigs? when we got there, it was a freelance photographer with a drone and a sexy model.. they had the car on loan from Audi and they were filming a promo... she was stepping out of the car as the drone flew through the Peak District.. i asked him the time.. it was 12.30am, we explained the situation and they agreed to drive us around the Burbage Valley and back to our car.. We got home muddied and exhausted to a greeting of "where the fucking hell have you two been?"
  19. Here you go @Hopethisoneisnttaken https://www.dofe.org/about/our-story/# https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Duke_of_Edinburgh's_Award It's a bit like the Scout movement but with less penetration
