SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)
Double 0 Soul replied to minya's topic in superdenim
The white / blue is def the best coulour.. the green / yellow, which i assume is homage to Oregon look more like genie shoes or Indian wedding shoes. I don't really get the faux-wear thing, i've seen Autry and Golden Goose do it.. puts them in the same realm as distressed denimz from my perspective. ..but, if that's what you want, go for it.. i don't think there is any tech in them, so you're just paying £600+ for the branding.. they look very much like, German track and field shoes, eBay used to be a wash with old unbranded East German sneaks, you could pick them up for £40.. i used to post them over on DB.. for that^ amount of money, you could get yourself a very decent pair of 70s era Nike from Yahoo.. in 3yrs time when the MMs are worth £50 the Nikes will still be worth what you paid for them.. but it's your do$h. -
The way search engines are performing.. the only things which have a digital footprint are 'for sale' I've never seen them before @redragon .. Can we see some more photos.. buttons, rivets, inner nylon labels, selvedge edge.. ect? If they came out in the year 2000, that's halfway through the 'anti-replica' period but the denim doesn't look like the 98 greenline ? From what i can glean from that one photo.. the stitch colour looks closer to the soon to come SC41947 but the extended pocket stitch was a feature of the M41001.. which you don't see on the 47s..

It's why they're still so saught after by collectors.. Back in the 70s the foam mid-sole was still made from 100% natural rubber, which didn't suffer from hydrolysis so these 70s era Nike runners are still wearable.. albeit, carfully on special occasions.. come the 1980s, the natural rubber was replaced with synthetic rubber which just crumbles to powder with age, sometimes without ever taking them out of the box.. -

Problem is guys, everything was slick af and perfectly balanced in the 70s.. It’s all just shoe-porn Obori Boston ..even the humble Waffle was slick ..compared to how it looks today ..but bear in mind, these shoes are repro’s of pared down running shoes, but folks are not wearing the repros to run a 3hr marathon, they’re wearing them as daily wearers so they still need to be comfortable for the modern day lumox, hence the fatter mid-sole. -

How dare you! .. i love that shape.. it's their raison d'être Ok, let me have a look through some magazines for something slicker than average. In the meantime, the clickable links to the right will give you some inspiration from the last decade of Nike vintage repros.. anything pops out, let me know. https://vntgsneaker.wordpress.com/category/nike/waffle-racer/ -

You came to the right place.. .. are you looking for a modern shoe in the style of a waffle racer or are you looking for a repro of a 70s era Nike running shoe.. in a similar style to the waffle racer? .. something akin to LD-1000? I can help you with og Nike or Nike repros.. i'm less helpfull re- Maison Margiela. -
I think that's^ it.. it'll be whichever version you posted.. back then, i would have just clicked the YT link on the video, taken the url and converted it to mp3.. i've just played the Martin Solveig Vocal Dub and the Club Mix and it's neither of those.. my downloader takes the track name and album artwork from the webz but they don't always correspond to the track. Duke hooked me up with '4K Video Downloader' years ago after the converter i was using became corrupted.. i use it to convert tracks on YT to mp3 format, store them to iTunes and whack them on my old iPod Shuffle for bike rides (which is what happened yesterday with a new track list) alas, after a decade of good service, it recently became unsupported and the update was put behind a paywall so i can only dload 3x tracks/day. Can anyone recommend me a free (and clean) converter where i can just paste a url from YT and it'll convert to mp3 and transfer to iTunes?

I'm a bit out of the FW's loop.. what was on the back pocket? It looks like the flash from the 39s -
In a way, I'm happy to see the price of these M-Series finally creeping up now they're considered vintage in their own right It's about time they had their moment in the sun To put it into perspective.. when i first started looking at these things around 2012 a very respectable 40s era Levi 506xx in a good size was selling for between £600 and £1000 on Yahoo (i remember because i nearly bought one) .. the equivalent would now cost you between £8,000 and £10,000

It was a shite ride last Sunday.. it was windy as hell so i thought i'd just do a quick loop and only took basic provisions.. because of the wind, there weren't many folks out so i was f'kin nailing it.. approaching a loose rocky section in the center of the trail, i tried to ride up the bermed edges towards the outside lip where folks have walked over the years rather than walking over stones.. these sections are only 8-10" wide, you can nail it if you stay on these sections.. but if you go too fast over this slalom course .. your brain can't figure out your route in time for you to react.. my tyre lost traction and slid down the berm into the stones which threw me off the bike.. Ouch! The younger me would have been fine but i think your brain has a better ability to compute quickly incoming trail info when you're younger and give you those crucial miliseconds you need to figure out what you're going to do. I scrapped my frame, my rear derailleur, my knee is all cut up.. somehow my phone in my pocket managed to survive.. i've done more damage to this frame in the last week than the previous owner did over 25yrs The worse was yet to come when i realised i had a front tyre puncture.. like all bike-nerds i always register the tyre branding centrally to the valve but the impact and loss of air was such that it's dragged the tyre around the rim.. ut-oh.. this doesn't look good .. the innertube was toast so i had to push home from Fox House.. back up through Burbage.. walking the section from Burbage all the way to Ringinglow village without any footpath .. it was just f'kin hideous.. culvert on one side.. walking for miles through waist high mother-die and nettles.. cars zooming past within inches.. all the time pushing my bike and trying to elevate the front wheel... it took me 2.5hrs! Today was a little better, albeit..he weather was changable to say the least.. Set off in the sunshine.. f'kin soaked before i even got to Burbage S&M Bikes / Woolpower Pan0rama (click on it) This is a charming little hamlet just outside Hope.. I was looking for the 'Intrepid Brewing Company' Chocolate boxy ..staying out of the rain in Edale Ominous Mam Tor ..had to hide in Odin's Cave to avoid the rain ..back to Hope.. arse wet af because of the spray Up Fiddler's Elbow.. the very worst climb at the end of a very long day.. even by Peak District standards i had to push up the mid section.. i may or may not have shed a tear, it was hard to tell in the rain.. the only thing that saved me was 'Believe Soldiers of Twilight the Martin Solveig Vocal Dub'.. was this one of yours @Maynard Friedman ?.. my god what a fkin tune!.. it got me back peddaling with nothing in the tank ..I'm just having a well deserved beer.. featuring PE beer mat

I've never been to the gym (too much testosterone and HGH for my liking) or really done any exersize.. surely not 00, you're like prime beef? .. i know right, but it's true .. i've just tried to lead an active lifestyle.. anywho, i've never had the desire to be strong or muscular, i just don't want to put on any weight as i get older. I perish the thought of a beer belly although i do love a good beer, i don't really want to revert to 0% it just seems like all of the sugar but non of the fun.. i'd rather have a juice.. so in my quest to alter my drinking habits, i started to drink red wine.. i don't really like wine so i thought i would drink less of it I digress.. because i know fk'all about wine, i've enlisted my friend who lives in France (he basically moved there for the wine) in an advisory role.. i still know fk'all about it but he sent me this yeserday. https://www.messynessychic.com/2021/04/02/hidden-under-a-chicken-coop-the-louvre-of-wine/ The video starts at the 37min mark the rest is just bollocks.. this energetic 80yr old Frenchman has amased a collection of €50,000,000 of wine which is just burried in his back garden in rural France, the story is beyond charming -

Remember years ago @Broark when we’d get a supertrash or techwear cohort trolling the shoes thread, ridiculing our footwear.. posting pairs of Half Cabs with just a few weeks wear on them. Ah, I miss those days of cross forum derision . -

Ooh! do they have the much fabled penis balcony? I think the edgy 'goth ninja' quickly became 'mall ninja' .. alas now 'patio ninja' seems to be the final resting place of that sub-culture.. -
They’re the denim equivalent of The Da Vinci Code around the vintage shops

Certainly not a well washed chore coat.. new black trousers with well worn denim just isn't visually appealing. It doesn't even work as a larp.. it's just not a cohesive outfit.. think about it, clothing back then was insanely expensive, one would have at least 9 kids to support and a wife if she hadn't already died from either tuburculosis or childbirth.. on the salary of a labourer? A pair of fancy trousers would set you back the equivalent of 3 months wages.. so why would one buy them to pull on your chore coat and go work down the old asbestos mine? ..you wouldn't .. if the trousers were beat to fk.. patched at the knee, torn hem, pulled in at the waist.. this would make absolute sense, your wife had probably bought them at market with the spare change she made as a domestic servant and repaired them for you to wear at work. The pants would work better with something like a sack coat.. just a few steps up the working-class food chain.. maybe the look of a factory worker or engineer.. alas, i'm not a stylist, just a contributor to a once great denim forum so what do i know? They do look perfect with the sweatshirt tho.. highwaist, loose pants with short fitted sweat *chefs kiss* 😘 -

Hmm... you might have to venture outside our denim comfort zone and look at brands like EG, Beams, Universal Works, Folk, Norse Projects and such.. good luck with the high rise on a non repro pant -

Wicks it to where tho..? Yep, I’m a massive fan of the merino base, I’ve been wearing Woolpower for years.. just not a fan of sweating my ass off in an N1, it’s less to do with the wicking ability of Alpaca and more to do with the heat they generate when you’re active.. I had the same issue with my Woolrich arctic parka.. great standing still, terrible while moving.
