Hello in there (echo)
Anyone know if Eternal is still kickin? Seems out of stock or low stock everywhere.

Haha great. I think that’s where I’m finding some personal discourse; when I put them on, I feel like I look too “in-costume.” But such is any kind of clothing really.
Honestly I did buy them with the intention of wearing them over the top of warmer layers while working in the (bike) shop. It’s not a customer facing sort of bike shop, but I do work on bikes as well as take photos recreationally!

Is there an overalls thread I’m just not seeing? Need to see some good overall fits to get hyped on these baggy joints I got myself into.

Diggin those tracks coming in @chantheman.

The area of concern. It’s nearly threadbare, and the tear in the knee goes all the way through. I don’t own a sewing machine but am thinking of hand darning the individual small holes, then putting a larger patch underneath and using a sashiko pattern to reinforce it. I’m having a hard time deciding what to do about the knee hole though. Maybe a patch on top would be worthwhile.

Here’s a nice little interview with Matt Rho about boro repairs. It’s from a while back but still an interesting read. He sort of vanished from social media platforms after that, and I think his plans never happened which is a shame. I wonder why was that.
Old quote here …
This was a fascinating read. Anyone have any cool boro or other antique mending inspiration they could share? Blogs, photo series, etc?
I’m lookin to do some major hand repairs to an old pair I have and I’m struggling to make a plan. The above article really makes me feel as though I’m overthinking it, so maybe I should just slow it down.

Snagged a pair of the S140SXJ-GRK from Self Edge. Pics to come soon, some initial thoughts.
Would love to see these!

@denimondenimondenim yo yo! Thanks for the reply. I’ve been afraid to try the 5000 cut because of the more narrow thighs and I’m even more afraid to spend the dough on those persimmon dyed joints only to have them be too tight. They look good on you tho!

Rediscovered these old Eternal joints from ages ago. They suffered a crotch rip that I had repaired and promptly ripped again slipping on wet grass. It’s in a spot that looks difficult to fix adequately, but let me know if you can think of solutions. They have so much life left tbh

Okay okay sorry for the frequency/quick succession. I also just washed these old as fuck S0500XX lot 10. My first real Japanese pants from back in high school, and my first taste of how interesting this fabric can be. Some diy repairs, and some from a local spot.
crotch patch is old APC and newer Eternal scraps.

Slubby 18oz tapered joints
No idea how long, I just wear them when I wear them.

I'm fixing to get these 211VX repaired soon here. The crotch has def seen better days, so I figured I'd take a few pics before giving them their first machine (probably) wash. Still not sure if I should send them to Self Edge or wait for Indigo Proof to open her books.. Thoughts?
I go through phases - wearing them often, then maybe once a week, so I have no real figure of how much wear they've gotten. Really gorgeous fabric though.

Helloooo — it’s nearing time to have these joints repaired. I’ve only ever had hems and full crotch holes done through Self Edge PDX, while I prefer to have smaller repairs done by a local shop or handstitched by myself.
I’ve been aware (and on the mailing list) of Indigo Proof for quite some time, though have never applied for her work. I’m curious if anyone with experience can recommend one over the other, as I’m expecting Rain’s books to open up soon and would consider applying.
as you may notice, the crotch is getting quite thin, and the multi-layered center seam has started to come undone.

@Cold Summer I know right? These are their 884 cut, and I've always felt like the top block doesn't quite match the rest of the fit. I still enjoy these, but somehow the synergy is off. Classic straight with a more fitted top block.
I really enjoy the crinkly denim and contrast as the electric blue starts to show through the tightly woven dark blue.
