Just a note to say that overcast days are the easiest conditions to reveal accurate textures of something, especially if you make your pictures outside or near a window in a neutral colored environment. Color is a bit of a different matter - but all else being equal it’s not a bad bet as well. There are other variables of course, exposure and white balance - but cell phones tend to do a decent job at both these days. Noting this because sometimes I don’t quite understand the knock on the conditions to make a photograph - if it’s cloudy out it’s fine - preferable even - if it’s too dark just expose for the subject and not the scene around it (ie on your iPhone make sure the exposure is locked/based on the person or garment as opposed to the background) Do I apply any of this for Sufu pics? Pretty much no, lol. But, photography is actually my craft.
  2. My gut says fck that to high heavens, even if that’s not so rational. Can’t see how quality won’t get lower and prices won’t get higher over time. That’s a real shame. Even if it stays the same, I’d hate for another dollar of mine to make it into their accounts. It’s the thing I dislike most about my birks!

I ordered this Celluloid/Warehouse anniversary jacket - the WW2 Tailor jacket - in early 2024 and it finally came. It’s a coarse/rough/chunky feeling denim, quite dark, unwashed. AFAIK They call it their WW2 denim. When I ordered I somehow missed the bit about the delivery date and thought it was in stock, only to find out it was going to be the better part of a year. Color is most accurate in the close up picture of the placket and the sleeve. https://www.celluloid1984.com/?pid=180239828 It’s sort of combination of Duck Digger and Dead Stock Blue. Apparently they only made 60 of them. I’m a little nervous about the shrunk fit in the shoulders, but everywhere else definitely needs the shrink. This one really was sort of a shot in the dark but it was too unique a piece for me to pass up when it came out. It’s funny how tastes slowly change - I’m not sure I would order it now if it popped up, but I’m not mad that it’s finally here. This doesn’t count as a 2025 buy! If it doesn’t shrink up to a good fit throughout I will probably let it go, but I’m hoping it does!

Thing is, if I succeed in going the duration of this contest and save what I might spend on jeans in a normal year, I could do it. My collection at this point says that over time it’s not so much a matter of funding (although to a pair, it certainly feels like it) but actually curation and restraint. I’ve been curious about putting in a long go of some naturally dyed jeans and while SDA seem the obvious option, who knows. I’ve been able to resist anything since the contest was agreed upon, so there’s that!

I received a 45r coat as a(n amazing) gift recently, and while their prices have never been in my realm it does make me want some jeans too. I like a lot of the other designs as well.
  7. @MJF9 thanks - I took a 38, whereas in jackets I take a 40. This is mainly due to the fabric and seams being more flexible than denim and my stature being more suited to a 38 - it is a close fit but makes for good layering and I like the length. Problem is with the jackets, the shoulders and chest are often too restrictive in a 38, so a 40 is a better call. @Maynard Friedman you could call us brothers! I'm clearly the um...outlier.

  9. A few days ago, went back to my hometown briefly and saw some good friends, 25 years or more I've known all of these guys. None of us bowl, so it was a comedy of errors but a good time. The bowling alley in our town is almost no different than what it was in the 90's, save for the addition of electronic scorekeeping really. Even most of the arcade games are the same, though half were out of order. Whoever was running the jukebox had a great affinity for Ozzy and AC/DC. The t shirts were Creed centric. Almost like stepping in to the wayback machine. But, the place was busy!
  10. ^ I like the commitment. What draws you to Phigvel? My local shop stocks them now so I’ll probably go take a look at some point.

  12. You can argue this. I would argue that no matter the similarity there a fundamental difference in what happens that makes the comparison an unrealistic leap of logic.
  13. Congrats @Broark and Mrs Broark !!

  15. I was never much of a drinker - seeing that in your extended family growing up can do that to a person, coupled with either being blessed or cursed with low tolerance. (I consider it a blessing) But we've got a lot of NA options now too which is great for some people I know, and myself, honestly, as I'll choose NA probably 60-70% of the time. But yea, the price of those things is bananas! Still, I'm glad to see more options that really do make the social occasions easier for so many. Coffee, now I have a more contentious relationship with that drug.

They were one wash. But a different denim. A 14.5oz one that’s seldom used I believe. Not sure if their others would behave that way but my guess is if so it would be sort of common knowledge. My first few washes were all warm so I was surprised at how many it took to get the shrink out - which was noticed mostly in the thighs and in the length, maybe 5 or so.

Why get a cut where you have to size up for room in the seat, as opposed to a cut where it is right for you with the waist that fits? My experience w Warehouse is limited to one pair and I took them in a 29 whereas I am more commonly a 30, but they shrunk (even after one wash) so continuously for so long I wish I'd taken a 30 now. That said, it's just a preference, they fit well all around still and definitely don't feel sized down. I just like looser stuff now.
  18. Looks like plain weave, so yes chambray. YMMV but I’d prefer that over denim pockets.
  19. ^ https://www.bluey.tv/ I might not know if I weren’t a dad to a four year old. That said, the show transcends age!
  20. I'll be honest, the discernible lack of flare makes those just about the best bootcuts I've seen for my tastes - or the closest to anything I'd ever consider personally. I mean, just the term bootcut feels like an allergic trigger for me. But these are Bob's. No one's gonna be Bob.
  21. I had the same t shirt as you around that same year. Mine was black though. Anyways, good stuff.
  22. I have the 51’s and it’s essentially the same cut. Same size.
  23. My Mister Freedoms have respectably deep pockets. Freewheelers not quite as much but as much as I need. The perfect balance. The king of pocket depth and durability is Tender. Ooe’s pockets leave me with no gripes. Warehouse, TCB, Fullcount all leave something to be desired. My one pair of Sugar Canes are a special edition but those are sturdy and deep enough, can’t say I know the standard cuts though.
