^ I do like some other designs etc, but really this is the truth.

I like it, but I’m not wearing it for 18 months in nearly all situations. I freelance - I’m my own HR and my own representative. It doesn’t comply with some situations, unfortunately.
-
Depends on the implementation - I’d imagine there are many different visuals people would have in their mind. It could be quite subtle. They definitely could be terrible also, but then some people like battle stripes or evisu gull arcs. But it was already decided negative so you won’t have to worry about it!

One update deserves another. These are the 01’s in the XX4 denim I think. I find this denim quite comfortable - rivaling fullcount - and also quite stubborn! Probably 5-6 months real time wear, the last month has me cycle commuting 5-10 miles a day in them 3-5 days a week. Washed 5-6 times, washing weekly now.

@yung_flynn the spell broke on Tues of this week - the humidity left and started getting below *50 at night here in A2. It was a rough past few weeks - well, if you love fall like I do. Should be better when you get back - though no weather really ameliorates the first months with a kid. Those are tough no matter what, even in the best of circumstances. @smoothsailor Happy birthday! And kudos to your awesome partner there!

Same, haha. This version does not fill the void I feel of lacking pizza arcs. It's funny but also given I want to wear them nearly every day sometimes in professional situations and I have a cinch and don't wear belts all the time, I sort of need the patch to be not that.

^ Nothing better than north country and lakes in the fall. Now that it’s finally here.

The negativity bias (for just about anything) on Reddit is really something to behold. I have 2 pairs of OSB, the first I got in 2014 or 2015. Early days. Still kicking, well made, still look great. 2nd pair from 2018 or so. Same deal. I’m not a boot guy really, but they’re as nice (better) than I’d ever really need, and the wider toe box, while not as svelt, is actually one reason they’re still getting use, because I am past the point of wearing stuff that’s bad for my feet because it looks good. I walk too much for that.

I know OSB isn’t the top of the pile but it’s not by any stretch poor man’s!

I think my first time ever posting with no denim. Inis Meain, Powerwear, Great Lakes, Quoddy. Despite not being into the mocs aesthetic I found a pair of black cxl grizzly boots in their tent sale, my size for like 70% off msrp. Had to try because of the minimal sole, and I have to say I love how they feel as boots, and the black + boot thing gets away from the sort of boat shoe/loafer associations with mocs that I’m not particularly into.

Ha, I also spent too long in one period of my life delivering pies. This pair will be personal.

SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)
ATWM replied to minya's topic in superdenim
Came here to say Tender, not even close. My UES pair is linen and only lightly worn, but doesn't feel close to the Tender ones. Out of more standard pairs, I find Freewheelers ones to be a significantly sturdier canvas than say, warehouse, fullcount or TCB. -
I also only own one pair of WH and no Denime. (Also, a WH jacket I ordered from Celluloid back in the spring that doesn't come til this winter). I'm really torn on my WH pair. On the one hand I quite like them - the cut is solid and so are the details, but they're the least durable pair of Japanese jeans I've had by a long shot, and also the fastest fading, most drastic shrinking and the worst pocket bags too. They almost feel designed to fall apart, as if that's part of the charm (which it is I concede). I like mine as faded as the next dude, but I also still like that durable workwear part of them to exist. The pair I own is a denim that I think isn't offered that much - I think it's possibly the same design Signet had a contest with, I just I got it before the contest as a 1003xx 1946 model. It's a pretty crunchy denim, one that feels a bit heavier and stiffer than the 14.5 oz that it's rated at. It's one that is a bit different than most others I own. It's not my favorite but it's unique. I can't speak to them ruining Denime but I can say that what they're doing with the brand holds no personal appeal to me, and that what they're doing does seem to all blend together in a way that feels much too close to the cannibalizing, cyclical fashion industry cycle that - theoretically - this hobby encourages getting away from. I get that lots of the brands here have A/W and S/S lines, but the machination behind some of them feels a little more curated or intentional.

I'm mostly wearing a pair of 01's (4-5 days a week, while other days are in a random assortment of more worn things). They're fading a little bit, but honestly probably don't have more than 4-5 months total wear yet. But I hope they're in a good place by the time we get going. My WW2 pair, and my Holk (02 cut) are still in the plastic bags!

I'm at a point where I'd love to break in a new pair (from storage), but I really don't need to. It's a good exercise in staying with everything currently in my closet. My OA's are feeling frustratingly slow right now! It's a little challenge to see just how good they can get in the last 3 months or whatnot.

Hickory isn’t for me but it’s cool to see it. Companion offers it, I think in all of their cuts - one of which seems to possibly fit the bill for you (the loose Tom). https://companiondenim.com/product/jan-027-hickory-stripes/ They’re not quite the typical Sufu fare, and they’re not so repro oriented necessarily, often having a bit of design flair that’s unique to them, but Iu’s shop does everything very well in my opinion. Well, at least everything I’ve got from them has been done well.

SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)
ATWM replied to minya's topic in superdenim
I haven’t looked at the new ones but historically Momo uses sanforized fabrics which do indeed shrink less but still do shrink, usually in the realm of 3-5% instead of 10% or so for unsanforized. Sanforized fabrics are also less desirable to some (myself included, though I’m not dogmatic about this) because it can flatten the character out of the denim, fwiw. -

@malik tender stores will be back open fairly soon if you can wait a few weeks. Or, you may be able to find 132/136 from other retailers though I would double check that the rise would work for you. I’d second looking at Black Sign and Dawson, or just embrace the process or At Last. I do think some options are out there. -
Our trip will be longer and we’re still working that out, just the part I’m talking about, 4-5 days is the goal. Far flung (within reason) is ok.
-
Right right - elevation. Yes nothing too ambitious. Despite us being Americans we are definitely, for this trip, more for the nice scenic treks in nature over “adventure challenge.” We definitely don’t mind some difficulty, but challenge isn’t so much the goal. Perhaps I should have said 2-5 hour outings. @Double 0 Soul - the relaxing is more for afterwards, as we’d be anticipating a good soaking or three. Will give the Peak District a look as well. We’re not necessarily limited to the UK, though we will make a stop there to see family, so it is convenient.

Switching gears with a question for better travelled/western Europe residents here. My wife and I are taking a trip middle next May and we’d like to take about 4-5 days in a particular spot to do a bunch of day hikes and otherwise lie low, work on writing, reading and relaxing. For day hikes we’re not looking for anything crazy probably 7-12km distances. Any areas anyone recommends? We’ve heard the Lake District in England would suit well, for example, but are still collecting ideas.

I’ve collected 2 orders from Tezo earlier this year, I’ve got 4 shorties (one natural. One a madder dye and 2 indigo tye dyes) and one long sleeve Henley - and if the t’s prove to be fragile, nice as they are, I’ll go back to buying cheapies from Muji or Volcom or whatever I find on sale.. For me the dye was more the selling point and their organic undyed was a bit less than all the brands usually seen here. I’ve no reason to yet deem these things fragile, so I’m optimistic.
-
@Broark I’ve got (2!) type 900 jackets in Indian black. One is the 19oz cross weave the other standard denim. It’s not the same dye, probably a little less intense/colorfast (though I could be wrong), but anyways, I’m a fan.

If I recall, with some sleuthing, the JPY prices for FC were still to be found on the sites of some lesser known retailers, though I’m not sure if that held after recent adjustments? Still, Bears isn’t the only place. The above brands are all solid recs too. Moto jeans are made by the TCB folks.
