  1. Old hat, Ooe, Orguiel, WOM, vintage boots.
  2. Those look really good, and the rise looks higher than the S&S measurements would suggest.
  3. I've seen belt loops like that (secured under the waistband at the bottom, but not tacked down ) on trousers and work pants but never on jeans. It's definitely unusual.
  4. I'm waiting until they shift fabric to indigo carpet.
  5. Some years back I read a piece online by a guy who was breaking in a pair of 35 ounce denim jeans. The first day he'd attempted to do some kind of a mild hike in them and found that the backs of his knees were bleeding. Apparently the jeans were breaking him in rather than the other way around...
  6. Thanks! Yes, it was. With the extra discount they had going on sale items it became quite affordable.
  7. Yes. I'm hoping so. Been doing some reading up on home dry cleaning, baking soda, white vinegar, steamers, etc. We'll see if I can continue to resist the lure of the washing machine. About the Lofgrens, they're feeling good now they're a bit broken in. Initially the high-ish heel felt a bit challenging but it's better now.
  8. Right, Neal. It was the three pound notes you had to be careful of... And those one arm bandits that took our parents' sixpences.
  9. I thought wearing raw would yield quicker fades, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I am starting to see the crease lines lightening up now, and in bright sunlight the knees appear a little bit pale. Still a long way to go. Not a bad thing.
  10. Got a new shirt. John Gluckow/Julian/Hollows/WOM/Lofgren
  11. In line with what Shredwin says, I have one pair of their jeans, a buckle back model. I've certainly worn them some, but came to the conclusion that the rise is too low for my taste. They're def not crazy low, probably 12.5 inch (with 36 waist) but it's enough to make them challenging for me. Seems like that's about where they like to proportion their jeans. I also have two pairs of their double knee work pants (denim, and chambray). Those do have a higher rise and I really like the fit.
  12. Right. I remember when I got a threepenny piece pocket money. Then it went up to a sixpence. I don't remember it getting higher than that in old money so I suppose that's when decimalization came in... I got into collecting the old money. My favourite coin was the huge 'cartwheel tuppence.
  13. I made it to Brogue once, on the way home from SF. So nice to have the opportunity to actually try on those brands. I need to get back there.
  14. Haha! ^^^ That's great. Glad to see the people making these things have a sense of humor. (Re the slide).
  15. That YM Factory piece is super cool!
  16. Thanks for that info, julian-wolf. I'll check out the triple bottom option on their site.
  17. Those are very cool. Are they pretty waterproof? I have a moccasin type boot by Oak Street and they let water in through the vamp stitching.
  18. It would be good to have an idea ahead of time as to the level of formality with the dress code. If no one else is wearing a tie, no reason why you should. So check on that if you can. My gut instinct, says proper trousers, polished shoes, pressed shirt, sportscoat/suit jacket.
  19. Thanks Double 0! You have made my year with that comment.
  20. I did! Perhaps too much. There was a bottle of scotch in the bag that came onto the stage with me later that night. After a day of gin and tonics, it was too much of a good thing...
  21. Last weekend a great honor was bestowed upon me. I was crowned 'musician of the year' at the Monterey Jazz Bash (an event I've been performing at for about 25 years). The ceremony was a solemn and serious affair, as the photos below illustrate.
  22. MF cap and shirt Julian belt WOM Whites
  23. RRL, Orgueil, Julian belt, WOM, Shoes Like Pottery
