  1. @Collin yeah i've been eying up the ecru 800s. Wish I'd nabbed them from Goteborg Maufaktur when they had my size. Son of a Stag have them but at a ludicrously inflated price. Also considering the orSlow French work pants in ecru, since I already have a pair in black and dig the cut.

  2. @Sakamoyorke I think that fit looks good, particularly from the front, but I can see what you mean about it maybe being a little tight around the butt, and I've never really known a pair to stretch in that area. If they're not comfortable and you have the option, I'd size up. Seeing those pics actually kind of makes me want these – they look way less bright white than I was thinking they were, for some reason.

  3. Yep, Bond Street Coffee – about as Brighton a spot as it gets.

Small Batch kind of led the charge with quality coffee down here, but I don't think it's managed to keep it all up with the big expansion it went through. In fact, I think it had to shut down a branch or two (pre-virus). Might be mistaken on that though.

Red Roaster in Kemptown also pretty good – and have in fact been going much longer than any of the competitors. Best café all round is Twin Pines, hands down - magical little hidden gem. One to bear in mind for that late British summer holiday that we're all being promised/threatened with.

  4. @Geeman the waist on the 50s slims is definitely oversized quite a bit, I think to account for the fact that you’re wearing them on your hips, instead of your true waist. I encouraged my dad to size down one from his true waist and they fit him very comfortably. There is a fair bit of give in the 50s denim, but that rise is always going to feel restrictive, I reckon...

As for baker pants @BionicEye, having owned both Stan Rays and orSlows, I’d say the latter are well worth the jump in price. The fabric, fit, puckering, all just lovely on the orSlows; the Stan Rays felt a bit flung together and have a slightly unpleasant sheen when new, then become pretty flat and dull after lots of washes. I bought the Stan Rays in the hope they would scratch the itch. Ended up buying the orSlows as well and giving the Stan Rays away. Live and learn...

  5. I think I need someone to talk me out of buying an A1 from Bronson...

Obviously at 300 bucks (270 with the discount you can always wrangle), I'm not expecting anything approaching the level of Buzz or McCoy's... but I've been pleasantly surprised with the quality of everything I've bought from them so far (a couple of watch caps, a tee, some chinos, an aloha shirt).

What do people think? Hard to disregard the nagging voice in my brain that says if you buy cheap, you buy twice.

  6. @Collin cheers mate!

@unders last word on the WH tees: the curved hems can make them a bit odd to size. The one pictured is a large, and as you say, fits nice and slouchy. My grey one is a medium, and fits much more snugly (no flappy arms), but after a couple of washes it's borderline too short at the raised bits at the sides. Only really wear it with very high-rise trousers these days.

  7. Love Waxahatchee. New record is ace.

Had pretty mixed feelings about moving back to the U.K. from Toronto, but one of the big positives is being reunited with the record collection. Been buying ‘em since I was about 13, and used to get lots from pluggers when I was working at 6 Music.

Mine’s in need of some organising itself at this point...

  8. @UkeNo I was out and about in Hove today, but not on the seafront, nor wearing the described get-up.

It’s only a matter of a time tho, in this little corner of the world! We’ll have to wave hello from a safe and responsible distance...
