  1. Perhaps...21oz 510s are a bit more of a "sure thing," in that I have some idea as to what they'll end up looking like. I'm sure the LHTs are also incredible, but I just don't know.

Either way, you can't go wrong.

  2. ^that post soak fit is mighty fine!

what are you guys seeing for domestic standard (cheap) shipping times on the jeans. never ordered from BiG before so i'm not sure how long they take. 5-7 days i'm guessing??

Typically 2 or 3 days. BiG ships using Priority Mail, so it gets to you pretty quick.

  3. these are back on rotation for fall/winter:

    ***Xposted:

'talk about natural indigo jeans having reputation for retaining their color, these mofo doggedly latch on to their indigo like a pitbull. 1.5y/o = 8mos [approx effective wear] = x8 soaks = n0 wash.

it's prolly how the yarns were weaved so tight together__ every after soak, the damn jeans seem to reset back to almost new condition__ like having bigtime focus/attention disorder, lulz. but, i'm not complaining. it means that i'm getting my money's worth. all i know is that, everytime i put them on, i'm banking ataris [a few strikes @ a time]__ payback is when i decide to wash.... muuuahahaha!

How is the stitching holding up on those?

  4. yeah, after you mentioned it I looked again at the pics..the stitching looks really thick and stands out.

I always wondered if Samurai uses 100% cotton threads for the black arcs. ploycore threads would be moer durable and the threads shouldn't fade. So it would be a smart move.

I've been told by BiG that all of Samurai's stitching thread is 100% cotton.

  5. What is special about the Geisha denim, BF? It looks good in pics, but what makes it different from other Samurai denim?

I don't think that there's anything that makes it super special or unique, but it's a high quality, slubby 16 oz. denim with a pink selvage ID that you don't usually see on Samurai's men's jeans.

  6. We have the 900s in the shop I work at. I try them on all the time. Actually come to think of it I owe Rodeo Bill some photos of them all merched out.

How did you guys size yours? I'm thinking I'd size up from 3 to 4; I need the extra arm length. Also I find a dropped shoulder looks "right" for this particular jacket, and because of the high armholes and and cinch straps you can still get a lot of shape into it. Did y'all choose true-to-size?

I think I sized down one (from 4 to 3), actually. I normally wear a 44 chest shirt (at least from Japanese brands), and I think the size 3 is for a 42 chest. The cut of that jacket is fairly generous in the waist area, and I wanted a little bit more of a fitted look with it. Since I won't have to layer here in SoCal, that works pretty well for me. Plus, I can always take off that wool liner if I do end up wanting a little bit more room. I also figure that the jacket may stretch a little bit, being denim and all.

  7. i would have. if it wasn't for bill responding to my post. it makes the jacket more interesting. i like knowing the story behind white stitching. also i helped sell another lot 900 jacket. i personal shop for a guy that loves hand made clothing , showed him my jacket. he told me to find one for him. just ordered one from hickoree's hard goods.

That's a great story! The Tender Type 900 jacket might be my favorite denim jacket that I've ever seen. I was wearing mine a bunch over the past couple of weeks until we got a heat wave and it hit 108 F here yesterday.

  8. ^ Oh, hahaha, I raise shrimps, that's why.

I'm working on breeding a species of colour-changing, Australian fresh-water dwarf-shrimp that turns indigo when they are happy (hence the blog name).

LOL! You'll have to show us if you succeed.

  9. Thanks mate - no I didn't hem them, I left the original inseam as is (95 cm when raw, shrunk down to 88 cm after soaking).

P.S. Just for reference, I'm 184.5 cm in height.

Makes sense. I guess with the name "Indigo Shrimp", I assumed that you might be shorter, LOL.

  10. both. think the Studio D' 005 i think (or was it 6) the one with both LHT and RHT legs, diff pockets and diff coin pockets.

That one was the SP-005, the so-called "Crazy Jean". It was a limited 30th anniversary model (240 pairs made), which is why they used the "SP" prefix instead of "D" or "SD".

  11. Here you go Ed, just for you - I put them on while they were still damp (not draping very well), feels like cardboard

    .

A little tighter than I would like, hopefully they'll stretch out a little.

Also, would you be willing to post details of the SDA collab in the SDA thread?

  13. So the Geishas are straight? low rise?

@Commodorewheeler if you dont mind me asking do you happen to have pictures?

Im kinda looking for the stitching in the back also.

The model that my wife has is straight, especially in the hips. They are lower rise than most men's jeans but higher rise than most popular women's jeans nowadays. You can see pictures of them here:

Like beautiful_FrEaK said, no Geisha models that I know of have back pocket arcs.

  15. Does anyone have experience with models for women? preferably skin tight. Thanks.

My wife has a pair of the Geishas that they sell at BiG, but they won't be skin tight, they are cut pretty straight for a women's jean.
