  1. Getting ready to pick up a pair of the natural indigo 101xx or 103xx (whichever is more comparable to my S5000VX cut), can anyone comment on the amount of shrinkage in the inseam? I'd like to get them hemmed with my order so I don't have to send them back in.

I would say that the 103XX is a little more similar to the S5000VX cut. The 101XX is probably a little more comparable to the S0510XX cut.

I would expect about 2 1/2" of shrinkage in the inseam.

  2. Got the S510XX24OZL in the mail last week from Japan, size 28.

I stand corrected. One of the Rakuten stores (aikidou, I think) said that these weren't out until 6/30. Another (BAS, I think) said that they would be released sometime in July. Clearly, you've proven them wrong.

  3. hi guys, i was just wondering if anyone had gotten hold of some S510XX24OZL's yet? i have some on pre order from rekuten! i ordered my exact waist size (going by the websites "washed" size guide) and wondered how the sizing was coming in with these jeans?

P.S, i have lurked here for a while now and have found this forum to be very informative, i hope to contribute soon with some usefull info of my own;-)

    peace

    dylan

Dylan, I've read that that model doesn't come out until 6/30, so I don't think anyone has gotten a hold of them yet . Like chantheman said, since you preordered them, you'll be among the first on SuFu to see them firsthand.

  4. Damn, I really might have to make it out for this. Sounds like a cool idea. Kiya, any restrictions on what type of denim is allowed? Can I bring in Non-Selvedge? I don't feel like cutting any of my good stuff because it all has so much life left. Thank you!

One of the store employees told me on the phone that they'll allow any kind of denim for making into shorts.

  5. Which pair would you recommend for a SoCal summer? The 13 or the 11? Thanks!

I would recommend the 11, since the denim is 1 oz lighter on those. These SoCal summers get so hot that often for a few months, I don't end up wearing any jeans at all.

  6. Anybody know if their store hours have changed? The website says that they are open from 12-6 pm daily, but they were closed when I tried to stop by at about 2:50 pm today.

  7. beatle,

since you are familar with the pbj - eternal sizing.

i have to hop on the sizing question, too.

as i read in the old posts: sz of xx-005 should work for the eternals (xx-013 too?) but xx-007 one bigger, is that correct?

    thanks in advance

I can tell you from direct experience that the XX-013s run about 2 sizes bigger than Eternals do. You can see it in the BiG fit charts, for example, raw, the XX-013 size 34 has a 37" waist, while the Eternal 811 size 34 has a 35" waist.

  8. really for 2)? i didnt know that the size could be changed since they were made to measure.

Yes, since any change he is going to make is only one day after preorders close, he should be early enough so that it wouldn't be a problem.

Plus, Gordon told me that there was a good chance that some additional pieces will be made beyond strictly what is preordered.

  9. i think im going to be getting in on this, but i just had a few questions.

    1) i've never tried on any of the jeans referenced in this thread before so i have no idea what to compare them to. i wear a size 34 in IH 634s and kings. so should i just get tts?

    2) if i preorder now and come into BiG on july 3rdish would i be able to change what size i get? i'd even buy a pair or two of denim to sweeten the deal.

    1) I would stick with the 34. In my experience, IHs run a little bit smaller than Eternals, but the 634S is sanforized while the 811 is not, so after the initial soak or wash, they should be about the same.

    2) I'm pretty sure that would be OK, but you might want to email Gordon to ask him.

  10. I know I asked this earlier but.

    Contest...?

I can[try to] get it arranged if I can get some yesses[lol] and if we can decide on cut.

xx-005 and we'll see what details we can get.

As long as it doesn't start before the Eternal contest ends, I'd be interested. I like the 005 cut the best right now.

  11. Anybody have the email address for 2ND?

    Here you go: [email protected]

They don't have any English speaking staff, at least not among the people who answer emails, so any replies they make to you will be in Japanese. You'll have to use Babelfish or something similar to translate their responses.

  12. Here are some of mine:

SExIH07- no washes or soaks, one application of Obenauf's LP

    attachment.php?attachmentid=45184&d=1275457959

SDA SP-013- 2 soaks, one machine wash, applications of Obenauf's LP before and after each soak or machine wash

    attachment.php?attachmentid=45185&d=1275457959

PBJ for BiG XX-013- 2 soaks, 2 machine washes, application of camellia oil before initial soak, application of Obenauf's LP after initial soak and before and after subsequent soaks and washes. The camellia oil was very effective in preventing the patch from shrinking and cracking, but it also darkened the patch a lot, and the patch hasn't returned to its original color at all yet.

    attachment.php?attachmentid=45186&d=1275457959

SDA D1452- 1 soak, 2 machine washes, application of Obenauf's LP before and after each soak or wash

    attachment.php?attachmentid=45187&d=1275457959

SExDBxS09- 1 soak by me, prior wash history unknown (got these preowned), application of Obenauf's LP before and after soak

    attachment.php?attachmentid=45188&d=1275458015

  13. Does anyone know the best way to get shrinkage out of PBJs? Like extremely hot soak and a machine dry?

I think a hot machine wash and then a hot tumble dry would probably get the most shrinkage out of the way possible in one shot. AFAIK, that is what is done with PBJ's one-wash jeans.

  14. Got 2 pairs of jeans for sale, first up is a pair of Momotaro 701. These are very lightly worn, no fading at all except some very, very minimal fading in the crotch area that you should be able to see in the second pic. These were hemmed and tapered by a previous owner, and as you can see in the last pic, the tapering gave the jeans a really beefy selvage line. They have been washed once, so most, if not all, of the shrinkage should be gone. Tagged 36 x 36, here are the actual measurements, BiG style:

    Waist: 36"

    Front Rise: 10.5"

    Back Rise: 15"

    Upper Thigh: 12.25"

    Knee: 9.25"

    Leg Opening: 8"

    Inseam: 33"

    ***SOLD***

Next up is a pair of Sugar Cane Garment Dyed jeans. These were completely constructed before being dyed, so their dyeing process is similar to that of an overdye. You can even see the blacked out selvage line on these, like you would on an overdyed jean, in the last pic. These are also very lightly worn, and they actually have no fading at all. Because of the dyeing process, there should be no more shrinkage left in the jeans. More info about these jeans can be found here:

These are tagged 34 x 34, here are the actual measurements (BiG style):

    Waist: 33.5"

    Front Rise: 11.5"

    Back Rise: 14.5"

    Upper Thigh: 12"

    Knee: 9.25"

    Leg Opening: 8.5"

    Inseam: 34"

    ***SOLD***

  15. how should i size for the pbj xx-009?

BiG gives me the measurements of the raw only not OW but they dont say how much the raw will shrink

I don't have any direct experience with the 009s, but from my general experience with PBJs, they run about 2 sizes big raw and shrink 1"-2" in the waist when washed and air dried. I've had my best results with them sizing down one or two sizes from normal, depending on how tight you want them to fit.
