  1. Since you have a high percentage of sucky baby answers to this thread I thought I would give you a real one.

I will say sanding is really hard to do well and those that can do it well are really artists. I have a decent little book "Denim Design Lab: A tribute to the beauty of vintage denim" it has a very extensive guide to sanding and aging denim.

  2. been lurking a while on your great forum:D ......... any good plain pocket raw denim you recomend with a strait/boot fit for under a bill that you would recomend?

I almost never harp on people for not searching but in this case all you had to do was scroll down the page before you posted to see this thread. Which is a bit annoying but here is the link and check it out.

    http://www.superfuture.com/supertalk/showthread.php?t=23423

Anyway get some RRL of E-bay or the supermarket. You will get them for under your infamous "bill" and could probably get more than ten pairs for a "stack"...dude.

  3. thanks numero uno, RL is actually my fave brand

WTF ralf I told you this like 20 posts ago then you wait for 2 denim all-stars to tell you the same thing and then it's good advice?!

Anyway now that Num and miz says its ok RRLs are good for you? Good go get some on Ebay!

  4. Is chainstitching overhyped? This is a silly question. Why would you not want a pair of jeans that is constructed better? While your at it why don't we talk about some other things that are "overhyped" How about felled seams, halflined back pockets, bartacks and rivets, double ringspun denim, and any other earmarks of quality craftsmanship we can think of.

Short answer is no chainstiching is not overhyped. Regardless is it gives your jeans the roping effect or not it gives you a stronger hem that also has a bit of give to it and is a one (not the only but one of many) earmarks to help you decide if what your looking at is a quality piece of denim or just some shitty fashion jean.

  5. JM is totally sweet! Have you heard "Your Body is Wonderland" I am not into those jeans unless all those wear and fade marks are from him and he had to patch up those holes. The fading does not look genuine to me.

  6. Not knowing much about Lee and knowing a lot about how ebay can be..

Do these look legit to anyone who knows Lee 101s?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/LVC-LEE-JEANS-101Z-36W-X-34L-NEW-WITH-TAGS_W0QQitemZ300083809842QQihZ020QQcategoryZ11483QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

They are legit but I think from the lee euro line (I could be wrong on that); but don't buy them if you want a lee repro. For one thing he has the reserve set for more than 50USD unless you buy those for under 50usd they aren't worth it. Buy the Sugarcane 1945 lee cowboy repro they are way hotter and have sexy sexy selvedge.

  7. HEWSINATOR' date=' I just kinda stumbled accross this thread...and needed to share a story about High Grade Clothing in Edmonton.

High Grade cracks me up. I was in there about 6 months ago, lookin' at what they had for raw denim. This sales guy comes up to me to 'educate' me on raw denim. He goes into this rant about how the trick to wearing raw jeans is to wear off the resin (he was talking about nudies) that is painted on them. I'm like "heh??" He continues "ya, Nudie paints all their jeans with resin, wear them for like 1 or 2 months without a wash and it wears off."

He proceeded to point at my jeans (2 year old Nudies washed twice) and tell me that they used to carry that wash before. I pointed at the dry selvage on the table "you still do".[/quote']

Funny story. I am from Edmonton as well. Highgrade is one of the few shops we have with a decent selection of Nudies and a bunch of fashion denim. Hence why I shop online or on hollidays. I love your story. How did he respond and what did the guy look like?

  8. I basically want feedback and/or opinions from folks who actually own the jeans & (have pics) not some corporate marketing spin.

Well they could at least tell you what model of Levis those are and then you could ask Superfuture a question that you may get help on. Start with identifying them and then move to get a critique on them.

So I would say e-mailing Levis is a good idea and good advice, it is their add so hopefully they can give you a definitive answer on what model they are; go from there.

  9. It's not really about the website, it's about the quality of items carried there. Anyone can have a flashy website but stock a bunch of crap. This dude has a shit load of really amazing stuff.

I don't care about flashy websites but it can be clean and neat and fit on your screen, and have some sort of order and care put into it.

When I do construction work anything a client sees is a reflection of my business; so when I send in an estimate it is clean and neat, easy to read and done with great care and pride which in turn is a reflection of the work I do.

I can see from his website that he carries some nice products but give be a f**king break with this website it shows me sloppy careless work regardless of what he might actually do, he would be better off with a blank page that had his address and phone number on it. For someone who should be meticulous about details this website is horrible.

  10. this thread is usless without pictures!

Yeah shows us your wifes bum.

I am kidding I have sizing issues with getting jeans for my wife as well. But seriously a pic would help... there is no way my wife would let me post a pic of her in ill fitting jeans on this forum.

  11. dickies jeans have stitching like that.

Thanks CFM I think I found them. He was wearing a flannel chore jacket so i could not see any tags but tho pockets colour match up pretty well and it would make sense Dickies is a very popular workwear brand around here.

I am pretty sure these are the doggies he was wearing:

  12. If you ever saw me at work you'd say the same thing about me.

I bet for the trained eye there would be tips. Same as for this guy. Little things like how he had his jeans hemmed, turned under and invisible stitched up high with no bottom hem like some do with dress pants. Maybe it was his demeanor I heard him talking about to the sales associate about some cheap sunglasses he was buying and how he was mad they came with such a crappy case.

Anyway Like I said maybe he was a secret. I could say the same thing Dick that most would not know I am wearing sugarcanes at work they would just think they are some jeans with stitching coming off the pocket. What I am interested in is his jeans, If i see him again I will ask him about his jeans...but he also looked like the type that would not take kindly to a varmint like me asking a dang durn question like that... I might be a broke back or something.

  13. Ok so the other day I saw an older guy (maybe 45-50) who was a cowboy type, I live in Alberta which is Canadian Texas. Anyway he was wearing what i thought was a pair of Lees but had the full Lazy Levis wave ala '28-'39. I did not think they wear deadstock but did not get a chance to approach him.. I also was unable to make out any other details.

Does anyone know of any authentic workwear that would have that sort of pocket stitching. The denim looked pretty heavy and even a bit fuzzy like some of my canes. I did some hunting but they have be baffled. Maybe they wear edwins.... He was not the type that would spend tonnes on jeans but then again maybe he was a secret.

    Any Ideas?

  14. actually, febreeze might eventually make the smell a bit worse.

You obviously don't listen to the pseudo-science about febreeze on their tv commercials. Don't you see how their special scientific stink grabbing molecules (also a science word) grab the stink fragments and transport them to another dimension? ;)

    Dude it's a scientifantastical fact!

  15. Maybe show some pics. Did you get the orange ones? I hope so. I am guessing off what the original retail I found for these being 165 USD they are not selvedge but pics would really help.

Do you like the way the denim looks and feels? That is more important than the jeans being selvedge or not.

  16. I prefer the disparity in wear and I feel it gives more character. One of the things I love the most about denim is the reflection of the owner that it gives. But I see your point that there are many variables that could result in different knee wear. Because I work in construction I was only thinking of it in regards to which knee you would be more likely to put on the floor.

You can tell a lot about a person from their jeans.

  17. I have noticed that my left knee usually fades quicker than my right knee. I also noticed the same on some PBJs Carl was selling on supermarket.

I am left handed as well and have noticed that I have a tenancy to put my left knee down more often than my right knee.

So I was wondering if there is a correlation between hand dominance and which knee fades quicker on your jeans = which knee you are more likely when you "take a knee."

Maybe a few of you could post what knees are more faded on your jeans and what hand you are.

  18. looks like a run-of-the-mill "original hem" job, which 90% of tailors can do for about $20. Personally I think they look terrible, I see rich short chicks getting "original hems" all the time on their Seven/True Religions. After someone told me about it, I can spot them a mile away.

Personally I would rather have a plain stitched cut hem over a original hem, especially on raw or one wash jeans.

Original hems are F***ing horrible the look like complete ass. Like Kiya said you stated this perfectly!
