  1. Hey guys cool out on the oven. Don't put your jeans in the oven your not making skrinky dinks here. maybe experiment with water and a blow dryer if you must but the oven is a bad idea. Just let them be, love them, wear them, maybe you could grow your bum out to fit them, but that could be a vicous cycle.

  2. I have a pair of 101b but not the 1947 so minus cinch-back. They are straight leg and do not fit like that pic you sent. I am not sure what I am saying. I guess I have no solution to your problem, Sorry!

  3. Does anyone one have any info on disfferent denim laundries and their processes. I know I brief overview of the history of laudries and of a few of the more famous ones (ie. Martelli's) but I was wondering if anyone had any personal experiance with laudries and their processes? Most of the google stuff on laundries brought up stuff about mexican and chinese laundries and the negative worker and enviromental impact they have.

I think that laundries are an interesting area and a part of denim history; although most SF'ers would say to wear your jeans to distress them I think that laundries do need some mention and any resource you might have I would be interested in.

  4. I guess the only advice I can give you is to the quality of Banana republic clothng. I have had many shirts and pants from them and they always fit very nice, drape well, hold their shape well and have very good durability. I would say that you will never have quality issues with Banana Republic in my opinion.

  5. What about if you like big butts and you cannot lie? My wife is very average full figured women with a 31-30 waist in womens jeans and she is pretty hippy but has a thin middle.

Any suggestion for actual women's jeans in a selvedge or something nice.

  6. I remember in high school i thought it would be a big deal if I wore the same jeans two days in a row. But really no one knows or cares. I say do what feels good. The added bonus of wearing jeans everyday is that they break in faster but if it does not feel good rotate them. I think the key is trying not to wash them but that too can be a personal preference thing.

  7. I have a pair I can send you a pic of if you are interested and to make sure we are talking about the same jean. Mine are pretty basic, not selvedge or anything and well the cut is 10b - doesn't et much classier than that. they fit like a dream I am 6'1" 190lbs they are a 32 x 34 (i just went to look at them and appearently I sat on a choclate bar today) and my wifes says they are her new favorites on me in terms of fit.

  8. I am by no means an evisu expert but something does not look right. My gut says fake but tell me more about them. Where did you get them, what is their story, model number? I am sure an expert on this forum will tell you for sure but they sketch me out a bit -- but it could be because I am from the "too good to be true" school of thought.

I nice clear pic around the cuff and on the inside of the cuff would help. My main red flag is the way the material bunches and wrinkles near some seams and on/around pockets - I don't like how it looks, not clean enough.

  9. If you can verify that these are fake evisu that you have bought from a boutique why would you not go back to the shop and demand your money back? Are you seriously gonna rip someone else off so you can buy more jeans and let this shop get away with ripping people off?

I know everyone is thinking "Duh, evisu at that price are obviuously fake but it is one thing to get ripped off from ebay it is an entirely different thing to get ripped off froma shop that is selling possibly real evisu along side fakes."

Although I do doubt the validity of this story and the "boutique" you shop at altogether. I would say chances are if this pair of evisu are fake all the evisu they sell are fake.

  10. I don't think anyone is trying to say derks, singer, gravity pope, high grade - etc... is keeping their lights on by selling dry denim. Nor does any company make a sustainable profit in one market niche. I would argue that there is a market for sugar cane and other brands like it in Edmonton.

And actually I would like to hear your arguement against this - I pray it is not the same old "edmonton is blue - collar... oil industry driven....price of oil...... albertan cowboys.... only buy tried and proven products..." speculative arguement that I have seen and heard before. It is a tired arguement and really does not prove anything. I am not saying that is what your arguement against the viability of sugar cane and similar brands in edmonton would be, I am merely saying if that is your arguement don't bother bringing it.

  11. Yeah those are really nice for your first pair. How did you learn to sew? I have had zero formal training and learned all from mother and grandmother. I was just wondering how you got so good? School?

  12. I hate when forums turn into the comments I have seen on here. I say fuck elitists. Sure sugar cane are great jeans but as soon as someone want's to try and educate the masses about them everyone is all down on the idea. It is the whole ideology where people think something is cool until someone else knows about it. I would rather try and teach a group of people about buying quality jeans rather than overpriced jeans.

So what it took you a while to convince your friend that nudie jeans are great. Maybe he had his head up his ass and did not know the earmarks of quality denim, maybe you were not eloquant enough explaining them. For what ever reason this does not prove any point. I say if Yet Fung wants to try and teach Edmonton about quality denim as opposed to overpriced denim more power to him. Everyone needs side projects in their life that they can be passionate about and I say more power to him, fuck the nay sayers.

  13. I am beginning to fool around sewing my own jeans and clothing. I am basically experimenting right now but I using just a regular standard issue mom's sewing machine. Is there anything you would recomend to to use? I am the most interested in experimenting with jeans.

  14. I disagree. I think there is a market for them in Edmonton. I think your best bet is Singer, maybe one of the new Henry stores? 1947 hardwash I think would be the easiest sell to the uneducated in denim and then go from there. The edo and okinawa are so hot.

  15. Dirks menswaer has a a discount outlet just north of revolution cycle on stony plain road. I don't remember the exact adress. But there is some nice discount denim in there as well. I have not been there for a while but last year I found a nice pair of gas jeans which had a really nice square backpocket. The were a great cut for me and although the denim was nothing special it was still nice. I know Dirks carries nudie now and so I would not be surprised if they have started to trickle into this discount outlet.

  16. Agreed. I did not know of the euro line levis at foosh though. Thanks for the tip I am gonna go check that out this week-end.

  17. The Winners in the city center mall is nice and usually does not get picked over as much. Also the Winners in Mayfield is huge! Hmm.

I think the reason foosh can be 30-40 higher than what you would find on the internet is just that. It is a retail store compared to an online merchant. There is still a huge stigma and fear with many about purchasing online. Then there is also the conveniences of a retail store and the extra overhead you have for running it. I think this is what accounts fro your disperity in pricing.

  18. Gravity pope is WAY overpriced. That store does make me sick in that it seems to be the only place to pick up some cool styles of shoes and some neat clothes you wo't find in many other places. My wife and I have talked many times about the what the perfect store would carry. It would be some alternative denim brands, shoes, purses, dresses and belts.

On a side note red ribbon gifts which moved a few months ago from it's 124 st location has some salt jeans that have tempted me. I don't know too mucha bout salt jeans but they seemed nice. Although I did not have time to really dig into it they also had some nice looking female jeans as well. I really need to go back there.

Oh and sorry the issue at heart here is evisu in Edmonton. Yeah I think those are gonna sit for a while in there. I agree just don't think that is what people are looking for around here. I would like to see a place selling lee's and also nicer levis and levi's repro. There is somethng about my lees that really speak to me and I think that edmonton does have a grassroots love of the kind of denim lee and levis sells. Lets face it this is the home of GWG.

  19. I strongly agree. I am not a big fan of highgrade-urban-undeground crowd. I saw nudies over a year ago in gravity pope, they also carry a few nice models of acne denim. What I really want is a place where we could pick up some nice levi repro, even lvc, or selvedged lee - just some very normal minimalist high quality denim. I have picked up a few online - my most recent is a nice pair of lee 101b they are not raw but they are a great heavy denim and an awesome cut - perfect jeans.

  20. I am another Edmontonain that reads this forum as well. I also love denim. I have been through queue as well. I thought it was OK they had a nce selection of denim, clothes, etc. I think it is a little bit sour grapes to hate on a store like Queue and then claim you are not into the local shopping scene. Even though I don't agree with the type of denim that they sell in Queue (I doubt most denim purest/traditionalist would) It is nice to see a bit more variety and I think that shops like this will help increase awareness in Edmontons shopping/fashion community on a whole.

The shop itself - sells the type of denim that is overstylized and over branded. Anyone who has read the book "pattern Recognition" would see this as the type of clothing that would make someone who is "sensative" very sick! I was surpirsed by the ammount of Micheal Kors clothes they had though - which I think is a nice budget brand for officewear/semiformal.

As for your views on Winners. I agree wholeheartedly. You need to search that place fairly well but with mnay repeated trips you eventually hit gold. You can just find some really unique brands/lines that you just don't get to see in Edmonton.
