Those are very cool. Are they pretty waterproof? I have a moccasin type boot by Oak Street and they let water in through the vamp stitching.

It would be good to have an idea ahead of time as to the level of formality with the dress code. If no one else is wearing a tie, no reason why you should. So check on that if you can. My gut instinct, says proper trousers, polished shoes, pressed shirt, sportscoat/suit jacket. -

Last weekend a great honor was bestowed upon me. I was crowned 'musician of the year' at the Monterey Jazz Bash (an event I've been performing at for about 25 years). The ceremony was a solemn and serious affair, as the photos below illustrate.

Am I nuts, or was 'Size down craze' initially listed as 'Sit down craze' (which was a mystery to me)... Of course I could quite possibly be nuts either way.

Those are cool. I've recently started to become attracted to the kind of sneakers that look like those we wore in the late 70s. Adidas, Puma, etc. So far I've resisted the urge but since they're so affordable compared to heritage stuff, I may succumb soon...

Haha! I wish there was something worth showing, UkeNo. Most of the gear is just affordable stuff from Dicks Sporting Goods. I've been quite dedicated over the past few years to trying to put on some healthy muscle before the supposed aging-related 'window of opportunity' closes. I've definitely made some progress but I'm still kinda disappointed at the gains vs effort/time ratio. It's all good though. Definitely a worthwhile thing to keep up for the 'silver years'.

No Fancy washing detergent.. No Worn denim while raw.. Yes Paid for an expensive repair.. Yes Wallet jewelry.. No Numerous pairs of very expensive boots.. No. Depending on where one considers the lower range of expensive to begin. Numerous pairs of identical jeans.. Yes. I suppose so. Numerous fancy leather belts.. Yes Native American Japanese jewelry.. No Jacket suitable for the Arctic.. Yes Unreadable Japanese language magazines.. No Dressed like a sailor.. Yes Dressed like a miner.. Yes Dressed like an urban lumberjack.. Yes Mill repro.. ? Dressed like a railway worker.. Yes Stacked.. ? Starch..No Freezer.. No Fancy socks.. Yes Handmade English shoes.. No Whites Semi Dress.. Declare that 'this way is wrong', and someone will purposely go do that thing and in many cases make it look good, or at least influence others to think that's the case. OK. Let's play. I would definitely say that only fastening the top & bottom buttons, and leaving the rest undone does not look good. Prove me wrong! -
All the Clarks talk has reminded me, didn't they do a connoisseur line a few years back? I recall a friend getting some that were sort of teddy boy-ish. I'll see if I can find a photo. Here we go (2020) -

Are they really that fragile? I used to wear chukka boots back in the day and they always had a respectable lifespan. The biggest downside to the crepe sole was the dirt it attracted & retained.

Yes, Charlie. Could well have been that one. Wish I could remember the movie. I guess it must have been color. Late 50s probably. Maybe I'll do some digging and try to find it. 5 minutes later...So it's The Man From Laramie. Brown corduroy, and on close inspection of various pics on the IMDB site, I'm fairly sure it's a Wrangler jacket. And furthermore...Bend Of The River 1952 he appears to be wearing a green Levis type 1, likely the same one from Winchester 73, and perhaps Broken Arrow from the same year.

Could be customized by a studio tailor. Looks like the cuffs could be folded over 'French cuffs'. On a similar topic I recall seeing actor Jimmie Stewart wearing what appeared to be Levis type 2 jacket in a mustard colored corduroy. Must have been a custom piece, right? Or did Levis actually make that?...
