  1. And good luck wearing a leather jacket in Pennsylvania all winter. Guys only wear leather when their trying to dress up or are out to dinner for instance.

Carhart is the most popular brand for men's jackets near me by a long shot though. I wear one on jobsites, and their bibs. But nobody is trying to be fashionable at a steel mill or paper mill either.

  2. Women and men both wear fatigue inspired coats and shirts almost annually and have for as long as I can remember paying attention to fashion.

Seriously Polo, American Eagle and Abercrombie and Fitch release military style jackets every year, and have since the mid 2000's. A lot of other brands too. I have multiple military jackets, with my very favorite being a mid 1990's tree bark camouflage I wear duck hunting. I refuse to wear any insignia what so ever on my jackets, insignia and patches are less commonly seen on people.

Interesting take. I sorta think these military surplus type jackets will fall out of fashion in a few years and most of the guys that bought them will be onto the next "thing". If its true that guys will be holding and wearing these for more than a few years then why not get leather? A leather jacket from Aero is always in fashion...unless you are dating a Vegan.

    Seems like a weird take.

I feel like military type jackets tend to go into style frequently and are timeless designs. A lot of people won't recognize a M-65 or N1 inspired piece but will still like it.

With that said, I love that cardigan.

    Thanks dude.

Runs big and don't pay full price. But I have had it for around 10 days and have worn it at some point for 8 of those 10 days. It's very warm and cozy.

  5. My 710's are still my favorite pair. Effortless and goes with everything. They remind me of mall 501 STF's if you size down, but a touch higher rise and much nicer material.

Trying to hold off on a first wash a bit longer. Haven't worn anything else for three weeks now, with a lot of 15-16 hour days.

Stretching wise, I am glad the waist and rear end have not got too loose. I wore a tight belt from day 1 though to help avoid that.

I saw the owner recommends washing them right side out, don't know if I have the stones for that just yet.

  6. What shop is questioning you @mlwdp?

As for Buzz jackets, I pick based on what I plan on wearing under it, and it goes well. Light weight jungle jacket I went with large because I only wear a t shirt under it. MA-1 in a size XL, to accomadate a sweatshirt or other bulkier things. In a Buzz sweatshirt I got a XXL years ago, but I could easily size down one size now.

HPA and Charles is bang on and know their stuff, but keep in mind the small variance of different runs and his sizing advice vs another stores stock of course.

Do you have wider shoulders? That's one of the few things I wish I had more room regarding Buzz stuff at times.

  7. I have that one too. After an initial soak I warm washed mine and hot dried it for about 10 minutes, the fabric really developed character after that and shrank more to fit better.

    It's a nice jacket.

  8. @beautiful_FrEaK I'm curious what he was explaining on the fitting session!

I got the 710 in from Naoki, great service as always from him. I really like the 710, sophisticated and exactly what I wanted. The nice pocket openings and pocket fabric are making me really, really like them. I haven't worn anything else since Thursday evening and am going to try and stick to them for awhile.

  9. Paco has his own clothes don't worry @Flash. Even has his own Steelers jersey for game day!

@mlwdp yeah I got these two things from Seabees. He helped so much with sizing on the MA-1. He sent pictures of a guy wearing the size I was thinking and his height and weight to help with the choice. His English is great, and they don't charge tax. Can't beat it with a stick. I didn't realize the History Preservation one had a different lining though.

I got the slimmer, non patch and stencil version of the MA-1 and like it. Easy to get on and off, very warm, good for in the car or truck. Wool collar a touch itchy so need to treat that, only negative so far. The patch jackets they have are cool but I just don't have the stones to wear it in public.

  10. I was looking into the 710 for a new pair in the next couple months.

Is there much aging difference between the raw and one wash version?

Leaning towards the one wash at the moment for simple ease. I planned on warm washing and using the dryer with them fairly often.

  11. Anyone familiar with Real McCoy's sweats?

I want to get a new loop wheel sweatshirt. Currently have a Strike Gold, Buzz, and my favorite being a Stevenson. The Stevenson is on an entire different level.
