  1. b_F -- science, movies, contests, having more children. Is there anything you can't do?!
  2. We all need a 12-step program, though I prefer the 12-enabler program.
  3. Ooe contest jeans were also my favorite pair aho.
  4. Hi Julian. I'm a 34 in Sugar Cane but going 37 for the contest pair. We'll see how it goes 😉
  5. Going 5150, size 37, raw inseam of 89cm (35"). With too many pairs of jeans to wear, winning is not in the cards, though I have thrown out all pajamas and will wear these at night.
  6. Deposit paid (goods and services + a little extra)
  7. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/5150_(album)
  8. After looking over the size charts and seeing your shrinkage b_F (not George Costanza's of Seinfeld, but your jeans) , I'd probably lean toward the 5150. And, as usual, in an unavailable size (37).
  9. Could not resist, especially in size 35 😉
  10. For those who’ve tried both, how do Warehouse 1082 and Buzz Rickson Original Spec chinos compare in terms of sizing and fit? If you’re a 34 in one, would you be a 34 in the other? Also, similar leg and hem width?
  11. b_F, where did you hear about Word of Mouth jeans? 😉
  12. Nice write-up b_F. Are there any jeans in your collection that you'd compare these to in terms of fit? Maybe the Denime Original Line?
  13. b_F, congrats on your career change. I’ll take two pairs. You have my measurements 😉

    Denime

^ not unlike the wide belt loops on the 714 jeans.
  15. ^ Sleeker b_F is looking great, as is the denim. How are you liking them -- keeper, or too soon to tell? 😉
  16. ^ I’m a 34 or 36 in most jeans and a 36 in the 714.
  17. Here are a few pics of the 1943 jeans (size 34), received yesterday. As I mentioned to b_F, I feel pretty young and trim for an old dude, but look old and fat -- and, of course, the camera doesn't lie. I also have the jeans hiked up a bit, as I just put them on for the photo. I suspect they'll come in a little with a wash and I hope to come in a little too (i.e., lose a few pounds).
  18. The discussion above reminds me of why I stick with this hobby -- it's you. Yes, I started out close to 20 years ago looking for a pair of jeans to replace my $39 Levi's 550s bought at Sears. I really didn't care that they had poly stitching or were made in Malaysia. They were just too big and wide. So I took them to the Levi's store in San Francisco and found a wonderful seamstress (Melissa Vu) working in the LVC Dept (long gone). She altered them and they fit perfectly -- I still have them and, truth be told, they fit better than a lot of the jeans I've bought since. And the denim is great too, with a weight and texture that is oddly hard to find (a topic for another discussion). Anyway, I have a few hobbies and what keeps me in them is the people (i.e., not just those who make the product but those who appreciate it). The average person could give a damn beyond, 'Do these jeans look good on me, does my butt look too big?'. The kind of people who care about stitching and rivets are the same people who appreciate what makes a Leica lens special (new or old), or a tube amp sound sweet and liquid, etc.
  19. Of the jeans you (yung_flynn) mention, I have the Resolute 710 and 714 and Denime 220a and 221, all in size 36. Though they fit differently, the 714 and 220a are my favorites, followed by the 221 and 710. I find the Resolute 710 almost unwearable, due to its trimness through the hips and thighs (anyone need a pair?). In contrast, the 714 looks great and is very comfortable, despite a lower rise than I typically like. I also love the fact that Resolute lets you choose the inseam that works best -- one of the few makers where you don't need to worry about hemming. The Denime 220a has a higher rise than either Resolute and is great -- roomy, but only where necessary. The 221 fits more like a pair of '60s Levis, for better or worse -- hanging down on my hips and dropping straight from there.

    Belts

^ That Abbey England brass buckle and Walpier Butero Rocky belt for Geeman is stunning Duke. How would you describe the color of the leather?
  21. The vests were nice, both the duck and the denim. 10 pockets, if I recall. Enough to completely lose track of where something is 😉
  22. ^ Nice Broark. Love Ooe. Saw Ryo and Hiro yesterday at S&S Oakland. Picked up a new turkey red bandana (larger than their last run). Will probably give it to my wife as men pushing 70 can look like turkeys wearing red bandanas.
